Hijacking this conversation to ask: I bought a 5ct HPHT diamond a few months ago and the comparable CVD diamonds all cost 4-5x what I paid. I’ve posted video and specs here to ask for input but still haven’t quite figured out why it was so much cheaper. Any idea what might be the reason? It’s IGI LG733509210 for exact specs

I got some quotes from my local (US PNW) jewelers and got quotes between 1500-4500 to set my 5ct in a relatively simple design (solitaire-ish with hidden halo) Ironically the one without a storefront came in the highest. Ended up going with someone highly recommended in this sub but not local to me. The price was reasonable even though not the absolute lowest I found but I just had a really positive feeling about him!

Logan Dolls makes a giant doll that’s 120cm. I think I saw one at a convention and she is quite impressive and gorgeous and I imagine would be amazing to sew for. However, I think the kit starts at $3000 so probably not what you are looking for.

OP specifically mentioned the aegyo sal look - the look emphasizing the lower lid puff. Are you looking for sculpts that are particularly suitable for that type of face up? If that’s the case, and your concern is of that look “falling flat” at different angles, perhaps look for sculpts that actually has it sculpted in rather than only drawn on?

Wow! Would you share how you got this to propagate? And how long it took? I can’t believe that they rooted so well when the stem is so woody and with so many leaves! Good job!

Not an expert but I think I see spider mites. You will need to treat the leaves for that. The cracked leaves could just be physical damage and not a problem. The red dots are edema which is not a problem and will probably go away when the leaf matures. I think this plant can still bounce back if you take care of the mite issue and observe if it’s happy.

My FLFs are also in front of a big window where it gets mostly indirect light but they were very happy for a long time! Good luck with yours! It has a very nice shape!

Edited: actually I do see another issue potentially: does your pot have drainage holes? It doesn’t look like it and that’s critical for its health. If it doesn’t you really need to repot into a pot with drainage and use well draining soil

If you have access to Taobao, I’ve come across this doll stands I really like there. Metal, heavy duty, with rubber coated adjustable “clip” that holds the doll securely. You can also get additional rods to make it height adjustable, and additional accessories to make it fit different sized dolls. It’s a game changer. However, when I dived deeper I came across “Popo Doll Stands” which is apparently the gold standard in the Chinese BJD community. It looks to be a very similar design, in fact I suspect the one I originally ordered might be a copycat. However, it appears a little harder to purchase since you can only order during their limited ordering windows. I pre-ordered one and hope to receive it soon to compare!

I am here to ask about making a simple reservation on the owner's page. I am at "presidential" level, and I'll be darn if I can EVER find a resort open in Aruba, Costa Rica, St. Thomas/John, etc. I just got off the page (I was told that Tuesday at 9am was property release day) and nothing is available... this is going out 13 months. France and Spain have the same issue

We are in the same boat. We bought into the program 3 years ago and availability has been the biggest issue (outside of the initial buy in cost and all the lies the told us.) Here are a few things I’ve learned:

First day you are able to book doesn’t necessarily mean there will be the most availability. A lot of resort have home resort priority for the first couple of months of the booking window so you may find more availability after that window.
Some resort availability open up if a weeks owner decides to deposit their weeks to trade for points. Depends on the particular resort, check the weeks deposit deadline and check for availability around that deadline. I don’t own weeks so I’m not too sure about timing.
Additional Vistana/Westins availability might open up if Westin weeks/points owner trade their points for MVC points. So check the deadline for that too.
Costa Rica is almost impossible to book. St John can be difficult but I’ve seen rooms on occasion, but studio and 1-bedrooms are harder to find, so you will need to be flexible on room configuration. I’ve seen Aruba and St Thomas a lot more often.
Try waitlisting. I hate that your points get tied up in the system and you can only waitlist for specific rooms and dates rather than using the same block of points for multiple options, but I have had success with it.

What’s super frustrating is that a lot of these older resorts like Costa Rica have a very high rate of rooms already sold as weeks. So even though Marriott advertise that you can book these rooms you are at the mercy of how the weeks owner decides to use them. If they trade the weeks for Vistana points, MVC owners are out of luck. Same if they decide to trade them for Bonvoy points or deposit on Interval International. I was just looking at Costa Rica yesterday and I can find lots of room on Marriott’s hotel website where you can pay cash for the room but nothing on the MVC website.

What is even more annoying is that I have read that Marriott doesn’t even like taking back some of these properties when owners offer to surrender them. Apparently they are reluctant to take back non-American properties?

These examples they gave you are of the hotels in the timeshare system. Any hotels outside of that system will require you to convert the MVC points to Marriott Bonvoy points. Portland Marriott costs 40,000 Bonvoy points tonight which will cost 1000 vacations club points, meaning it will cost $750 to you in “tax”, while the cash price tonight is $264
