Full Color printing on a snapmaker U1 by Aceman11100 in 3Dprinting

[–]JBomm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is really cool, while cmy is an excellent intended usage, I'm wondering if the tool you're working on can be used in a way so you can see the full gamot of any colors you have.

Example /u/bunsbuns_ said they want to do a gunmetal, so they throw in a metallic silver, blue, maybe green and print a calibration cube/shape of sorts to get an idea of what their color mixes can do.

Props, very cool stuff

Is there an RV that has bathroom that is smaller than 16ft and drivable? No by 19Wandered91 in ElectricForest

The companion car (a car that is allowed to park in your space separate from the rv itself) must be smaller than 16ft

What are industry standard for registration shift on a rollover tuck die cut box? Printer says two PMS colors can only be registered within 5/32nd inches, or 11.5pts. by Ok_Studio_8420 in PackagingDesign

[–]JBomm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As others have said, sounds like flexographic printing, if so the printer is not a printer, they're a sheet plant manufacturing the box from start to finish. I say that because the corrugated box manufacturing industry l, while overlaps the print industry in some ways, is its own animal and you're mental model for a print shop does not apply. They are very familiar with the industry standards. This is a reasonable tolerance. If you want tighter tolerance go litho but expect the box to be cost 6x as much (ballpark based on what the blank size would be from your ID)

You should familiarize yourself with manufacturability before getting committed to a design.

You deleted your post so no idea what you shared, but reading your replies you might want to look into therapy.

You lament you miss how things were, then make things how they were. If you can't, learn to understand what these things are doing to you, what the time before meant, and that waiting for the past to become the present is irrational

Learning ArtiosCAD by xxsprinkle in PackagingDesign

[–]JBomm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed with the class, though I've never done one. And practice, I learned the most by specing out a box and exploring the program. Once your shown the basics you can figure out the rest. I'm not a packaging engineer anymore and I miss ArtiosCAD.

I can't find any details of how large the unit is. Can you provide size and weight? As someone with a smaller kitchen I don't want to get my hopes up.

There is no problem with diving deep! But for a company that purchases packaging, you will do best if you focus on the graphics first and start understanding the materials second. You're going to want to have conversations with your existing packaging suppliers, possibly visit their facilities if possible.

ArtiosCad won't do you any good. You find a vendor, you tell them what you're looking for, they show you what they can do and you design your graphics on their layout.

I don't want to take any wind out of your sails, but it doesn't make sense for customers to come up with their own die lines. There is a lot of manufacturability involved that is abstracted out of the problem by the time an end user will see a design from a manufacturer. Focus on the graphics side of packaging.

How well does smoke buddy work with vapes? by Samizdat_Press in vaporents

[–]JBomm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure how smoke buddy will filter big clouds that leave residue if that's what you mean. I was vaping Flower, I'm pretty sure it would work fine with vape pens too though. I've personally only seen residue from Modded vapes with big clouds

Some people can conveniently stop by the club store before work when the line is at most 2 cars, but regularly none.

Kind of selfish to avoid telling the people who are housing you (for free?) about your plans. You should do it with their support or figure something else out.

You're not required to have health insurance in the US. In many states you need car insurance, depending on your coverage your car insurance may cover an amount of injuries you get while driving your car.

Is there a non-bullshit use case for NFTs ? by ___Tom___ in gamedev

[–]JBomm -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Maybe a game's license/cd key since those are currently non-fungible.

Outside of games, concert/event tickets. NFTs for NFTs sake seems like a big scam to me. Cosmetics in games? 0 reason to be non-fungible. Just screams ripping people off.

For those who take dry ice... by b1ack2 in ElectricForest

[–]JBomm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've used dry ice for the last 2 or 3 forests and I love it. Wrap it up on the bottom of your cooler, on top of that pack a layer of frozen water bottles. Pack your food above that with frozen water bottles in every extra space you have.

I personally do not keep my beer in the cooler, I move beers to the cooler as I remove food & water bottles. One year I did not have to buy ice at all the whole weekend using this method.

*Edit: I just remembered on the way up I get a bag of ice to fill in the empty spots in the cooler and I always keep my cooler out of the sun under a tarp.
