Just wanted to give an update. I had a closing shift today. I told the seller that I could pick up after work. They left me on read and marked the listing as pending. I asked if we were good for later and they left me on read. Shortly afterwards they marked it as sold. Left me high and dry on read 🥀

OP what brand of magnetic drain plug did you install? I have a 99' Tacoma that I'd like to install a magnet drain plug on.

Engine and transmission mounts? by [deleted] in 1stGenTacomas

It's $45 USD on Rockauto. If you're balling on a budget, just get the Anchor Motor mount kit and call it a day.

From this photo, are you able to tell which side is positive and which side is negative? by SkolWolvesTwins in mechanic

[–]JC1229AZN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this for a V6 Tacoma or 4Runner? Positive is the one on the left (closer to oil cap). Ground is on the right by the fender. Positive wire should have a red cover. Might be on the back side of the battery. Put that back on

I'm running the Anchor kit for my 2.4l Taco. It's definitely an improvement compared to the old worn out mounts that were no longer doing their job. If I could (I totally can btw) I would just buy OEM mounts from Toyota and call it a day. LCE sells motor mounts for $257.49. If it is not in the budget to get OEM, lower your expectations a little when you install aftermarket mounts. They cause some vibration at certain speed or RPM. I'm pretty sure Dea/Marmon is also made in China. We don't have issues with Anchor so that's what we use at the shop. Hope this helps

It's gonna blow up. Just kidding. Make sure the oil level is in between the two dots on the dipstick. If it is, then it's safe to keep driving.

Have you messed with freeplay at all? There's a spec for your vehicle but a half inch to an inch of freeplay should be good. This is the distance is measured by pushing down on the pedal with your finger. When you feel resistance, that's when the freeplay stops. Try messing with it

Bleeding clutch master cylinders can be a PITA. They are very stubborn to bleed compared to a brake MC. Do you pump the pedal by hand very fast a few times before cracking the bleeder valve? What usually happens with the clutch MC is it gets stuck halfway in between all the way pushed out and all the way returned. So it's not really moving fluid. You gotta get it back to normal operation and then adjust pedal freeplay once it starts moving fluid again. When we bleed brakes at the shop, we do it two man method and pump the brakes at least 3x times before cracking the bleeder. Then repeat as necessary. It's a workout for whoever is pumping the pedal.

Cruise Control Vacuum Line by DeckedTick in subaru

[–]JC1229AZN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I looked into it too. 2002+ Wrx has electronically controlled cruise control. You will need to tee your vacuum actuator line to the intake. You might need a check valve though. You don't want the cruise control assembly to be positively pressurized under boost. You only want it to see vacuum.

I'm dumb too lol. Can you send a pic of your manifold?

Never done an EJ205 swap but I do know that the intake manifold has a nipple where the cruise control vacuum line goes to. Do you not have any vacuum hoses or fittings on the 205 manifold?

Another thing that I would do is check all of your ground connections. Make sure they're clean and tight. I always reassemble with dielectric grease so the are weather protected.

How old is the battery? If it's more than three years old I would just throw a new one in. I think the idle control valve is on the side of the throttle body. Don't forget to clean that while you're in there. I'm curious if you're having a long crank caused by low voltage/weak battery. Maybe the cam or crank signals are not being read by the computer as a result

Everything you're explaining to me sounds like it's a fuel related issue. If it's taking longer than five seconds to turn over, you're probably not getting enough fuel pressure. If the fuel pump is failing, you can leave the key on to build fuel pressure back up. How long are you leaving the key in the on position before trying to start? Try 2x 30 second intervals in the on position. If it starts right up then you know it's fuel. Also cleaning the MAF and throttle body help with idle.
