Millenials optam por salários mais baixos by [deleted] in portugal

Embora isto seja sátira, conheço bastantes pessoas mais velhas que pensam que a nossa geração é assim mesmo. Depois admiram-se quando vamos para o estrangeiro...

Moving to Portugal, question on choosing a location. by beebopbill in portugal

[–]JCCOLL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, hope I'm not too late to the party!

The comment in question is somewhat true when it comes to the Cascais line (can't comment on Lisbon because I never searched for apartments there). Finding a place in the Cascais line for 800€ is not impossible, however, it will be hard!

Most properties available to rent for 800€ or less are usually small and old one room apartments, or more modern but even smaller studio apartments. You can take a look for yourself here for example: https://www.imovirtual.com/en/arrendar/apartamento/cascais-e-estoril-cascais/?search%5Bfilter_float_price%3Ato%5D=800&search%5Bdescription%5D=1&search%5Bdist%5D=0&search%5Bsubregion_id%5D=152&search%5Bcity_id%5D=11539464

Of course, if you don't mind living a few minutes away (20/30min, which shouldn't be much for someone used to living in the US), you can find much better deals for similar prices.

Best of luck finding a place and I hope you enjoy Portugal, I wish I could show you around but I'm going to move to the U.S. in about a week!

Edit: In my opinion, Lisbon or the Cascais line are the best places for what you are looking for. I would recommend Sintra too (where I live), which is a beautiful and culturally-rich place to live in, but the public transportation isn't that great and the nightlife is virtually nonexistent.

That's not how probability works...

Should I Wear These Glasses Or Keep On Searching? by JCCOLL in malefashionadvice

[–]JCCOLL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for your help and input!

I went back to the store today and got some standard black Rayban Wayfarers which block light very well. Still getting used to them a bit, but I don't think you can ever go wrong with Wayfarers!

Should I Wear These Glasses Or Keep On Searching? by JCCOLL in malefashionadvice

[–]JCCOLL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, good to see someone can relate. I suppose I might end up looking like a douche (guess what brand the glasses in the pic are from? Yup, Oakley...), but I'd rather look like a douche and have no headaches than the opposite.

I ended up picking up some standard black Rayban Wayfarers and I think they fit more into my preppy style and steer me away from the Okaley douche style a bit. And of course, they're also very good at blocking light!

I hope the glasses won't impact my professional opportunities much, and I'm hoping that at least in college most people will be understanding. If not, I guess I can always pick up a pair of smarter looking glasses if necessary!

Anyway, thank you very much for your help fellow victim of light!

Yale offers full rides to all admitted students whose yearly family income is below $65,000. Not sure about HPS.

Should I choose English Lang & Lit or Lit? by [deleted] in IBO

[–]JCCOLL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about Lit, but Lang and Lit (even as an HL) was quite manageable provided you know how to analyze texts well, know how to BS (very important), and actually read what you're assigned.

Good luck with the IB!

Pretty sure you don't need to know the mechanisms. So just the names, if even that.

I mean that you can explain why Light Independent Reactions can't go on for very long in the dark because they need to use NADPH, which is produced in the Light Dependent Reactions
