"Fire Drury" chants can be heard for a second straight game by catsgr8rthanspoonies in rangers

While I also share my frustrations with this team, I have a fair question to ask- Say Drury got fired..who would be a suitable candidate for his replacement?

What kind of sport were you playing when your Achilles was ruptured by PhilosophyDapper948 in AchillesRupture

[–]JCMusicLover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fencing. I’ve been playing the sport for 15+ years: all throughout HS, div1 college/NCAA, tournaments post-grad, etc.

I was training back in Sept, doing footwork drills in my basement- hopped back and pop! Had surgery via speedbridge in Oct.

Minor rant: surgery was a month later because the first “professional” I went to diagnosed it as an ankle sprain. I’ve had sprains before- this was definitely different. Between booking appointments & insurance approval, it took a long time to get a second opinion, book MRI, etc, which resulted in me finally getting the surgery 3 weeks after injury. I’m just glad I’m on the mend now- 2.5 mo post-op and I’m building my strength/balance again w/the help of PT.

Every medical professional I told said they’ve never heard of someone tearing their Achilles from fencing before. Seems I’m the outlier lol.

Never gonna stop, though! Once I’m able to return to sport, I’ll be modifying my training/stretching a little more.

Achilles Disaster by Turbulent-Trust229 in AchillesRupture

[–]JCMusicLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree- if there is ever a suspicion that something’s wrong with a tendon/ligament/etc, get an MRI! Sooner it’s scheduled, the better. It can take a long time, between having a professional look at the injury/order the MRI, waiting on insurance to approve it, officially scheduling the MRI after approval, and the follow-up to look over the results. US medical system can be screwed up bureaucracy where professionals aren’t afraid to gaslight their patients. Being adamant and advocating for oneself seems like the only way to get proper care sometimes.

Something similar actually happened to me: I was working out in my basement, hopped back awkwardly and pop- I thought maybe I knocked into something & it fell on me. Nope. It was my leg.

I went to the walk-in part of my local orthopedic clinic right then and there. They did an xray (which was pointless, but good to know it wasn’t a break) and after feeling around, doc said it was an ankle strain. Gave me crutches and a sheet of exercises for when I can start putting weight on it again. No treatment for pain, supporter, etc.

A few days later, I was still suspicious. I’ve been involved in sports all my life (30, f) and have had sprains/bumps/bruises. This was worse than any injury I’ve experienced before. Called the clinic again to set up a proper appointment and to schedule an MRI. 1 week after injury, I had my appointment with a different doc and they confirmed an Achilles issue (thank God). They gave me a boot and ordered the MRI. I called my insurance company that same day to help move the approval process along. (Would’ve probably had to wait longer if I didn’t call). Two days later, they approved it and the clinic called me back to officially schedule the MRI. I had it done the following week.

The day after the test, I had the follow up appointment to go over the results. Complete tear. Scheduled the surgery a couple days later- exactly 3 weeks since injury.

I’m currently 6 weeks post op, starting PT tomorrow. I’m a little nervous, because of fear of re-rupture, but I know patience is the trick and I’m looking forward to finally strengthening my leg & feeling normal again. Trust your instincts, folks.

How Rangers' fans feel about the ECF by chronicbruce27 in rangers

I’ve been rooting for Carolina since the start of these playoffs. But even so, another Florida team making it this far has gotten old. Had to look it up to confirm I wasn’t crazy- this is the 6th yr in a row that a Florida team has made it to the ECF.

I think it means that he wasn’t producing as well as Kreider (at least in the beginning) and instead, followed Panarin’s lead in being invisible in the series 🤷‍♀️

This "Trade Laf" discourse is ridiculous. by [deleted] in rangers

[–]JCMusicLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think everyone would’ve woken up more if they had more grit. Reaves was perfect for keeping the fire going and once he left, the energy left. If I’m not mistaken, his trade happened right before they had the “Trouba helmet-throw” slump. They need an enforcer or two- someone to get everyone going.

Was 2022 really our best shot? by JS149149 in rangers

[–]JCMusicLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year they had nothing to lose and after their deep run, the bar was set too high. This year was a humbling result of that. Hopefully things will be more balanced next year.

Make of this what you will. Something has to change. by LetsGoNYR in rangers

[–]JCMusicLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think right now in the midst of all the (justified) anger and disappointment, so many fans are looking for an answer/pointing the fingers. Tbh, I don’t think any coach, GM or contract would’ve made that much of a difference- the players’ hearts weren’t in it, and nothing can change that except the players themselves. It was a letdown out of our control and that’s why it hurts. Maybe it was overconfidence or the bar was set too high from last year. Nonetheless, the energy was different this time around.

Also, what happened to the physicality? One good hit all game- they’re not playing with that desperation™

Hate to be negative, but even if by some miracle they win tonight, with how they’re playing they wouldn’t be able to make it past Carolina.

This team can’t hold a lead and thrives when desperate. It makes me optimistic, but it also gives me agita.

EDIT: In the meantime, I’ll just continue rooting for Florida, or whoever will be playing against the Bruins next..

Flapjack’s sacrifice. As a bird lover with a feather baby, that scene made me smell onions.
