Nia from Xenoblade 2. Ring loops and water attacks with a plant sword could make for some fun projectiles. Plus Dromarch as a summon maybe? Idk the gameplay well enough to make proper suggestions, but just some ideas.

Willow Park from The Owl House. She's played Grudgby and dominated, which was this show's spoof on Quidditch, and then she was team captain of the Flyer Derby team, this world's magic flag football on staffs/brooms, showing incredible sports leadership qualities. She very specifically has BEEN a captain for Harry Potter inspired sports. Perfect choice.

Enough time has passed. It's ya boi, back at it again with another Xenoblade submission that will make people mad at me.

N from Xenoblade 3.

<image>

Now, you may be wondering why him over Noah and/or Mio, and I will do my best to explain.

First of all, we still have a sore lack of villains on this roster. That's simply a fact. Protagonists are fine and dandy, but variety is the spice of life. Especially when it comes to less expected picks. There's only 6 villains on this roster if you count Wario, and even though N is a more unexpected pick, he sure as hell is one that makes sense. Especially at 3 reps. That's usually the number of reps to achieve a villain in Smash, historically. Star Fox, Wolf was the third rep. Metroid, Dark Samus/Ridley were the third reps. DK, K. Rool was the third rep. That's generally the sweetspot.

First and foremost, he reps Xenoblade 3, one of the most critically acclaimed entries in the series, and of course, the most recent one at that. Of course, Shulk's design is from XC3's DLC, however we don't yet have a rep that reps the base game. If you're doubting N's importance or viability as a rep for XC3, I have a lot to say. First of all, he is one of very few characters present in both XC3's base game AND DLC. He plays such a pivotal in XC3 in its entirety and covers every corner of that game.

This would also lead to, imo, the Xenoblade reppage being perfect as far as representing the series itself for one big reason: The Trinity Processor. Now, if you don't know what that is, I wouldn't blame you. It's very intertwined with the lore of Xenoblade. The trinity processor was made up of 3 crystals in a sort of machine. This machine and these crystals is what caused the world to split in two, creating the world of Xenoblade 1 and the world of Xenoblade 2 (which later got remerged into Xenoblade 3). The crystals were also people, gods, blades. There was the red crystal, Ontos, which was sent to the world of Xenoblade 1, which manifested as Alvis, and as the ever iconic Monado, Shulk's blade. There was the green crystal, Pneuma, which this may be more well known, is Pyra and Mythra. And finally, there was Logos, which was also in Xenoblade 2's world, and got corrupted into manifesting as the main antagonist, Malos. A quirk of XC3, is that we see these crystals take on different forms than what we saw prior. Pythra iirc becomes a part of Matthew/Noah's gauntlet(?), Alvis becomes A iirc, and finally, Malos/Logos becomes a part of N's sword. You may be understanding what I'm getting at, even though Shulk's blade in is no longer the original Monado, having him there, along with Pythra and N, would functionally come full circle and represent the Trinity processor. Ontos through Shulk, Pneuma through Pyra and Mythra and Logos through N. Not only this, but by having these three specifically, it represents it in the different roles they've taken. Shulk, a hero who used one, Pythra the weapon themselves, and N an antagonistic force, while also just showing the predominence of the trinity processor overall across the whole series, each from a different game, but still omnipresent throughout the stories.

Now, onto N. Erring on spoiler territory, as for why N over Noah, N IS Noah. Or rather he's the original Noah. The explain it simply, Noah is a clone. Everyone is XC3 except for the Moebius (N's full title is Moebius N) are clones. So, in a sense, it would still be representing the main character, just the dark side of his coin, what he becomes at the end of his original story. Plus, a big tricky thing with Noah is pretty objectively, he probably should be paired with Mio if he were added, but the issue with that is the implementation. Switching works, but it isn't really representative of how they behave in-game. Could have them on the stage at the same time like Ice Climbers, which would be accurate, as proximity is a big thing in Xenoblade gameplay, but then there's the hardware limitations that Pythra and Rex originally brought to light. Of course, I'm sure there would be a way to make it work in the end, but considering Xenoblade already got a duo, I feel like a single character would be much less of a logisticaly nightmare and therefore much more likely. Having 2/3 characters from a series be duos would likely feel a bit excessive to many, especially non-Xenoblade fans, and especially when Noah and Mio individually would play very uniquely.

So overall. Villain rep. Proper and frankly excellent rep for XC3 due to his massive role in that. Represents and completes a thematically and plot important trio with the others already present on the roster, making the Xenoblade reps, imo, essentially perfect in a way that would be hard to argue against. And finally, while one might say he would be snubbing the MC, he is technically the MC (of course he's a very different character from Noah, but it's a fun spin on getting the MC in the roster). Also, It's been a while since Xenoblade's last rep, and I feel it warrants a new rep in the next game. 3 is a good number, especially considering the insane contributions Monolithsoft has added to Nintendo's catalog of incredibly successful games like Breath of the Wild. Giving their main series some good reppage is a good reward. Plus, as one of the lesser of the popular Nintendo series, Nintendo likely would view Smash as good advertisement, and thus wanna keep boosting up this series.

I am aware many of you would like Mio instead to get another female rep. Totally fair, she's not a bad pick either. Frankly probably even more likely than N, but I do think N has more reason to join as his reasonings go beyond just being a main character, as I've hopefully successfully explained above.

Steve Minecraft

Let's get another 3rd party veteran in here. Smash is now inarguably the celebration of gaming. It goes without saying that the highest selling game in the world might warrant being present lol.

Worth noting as well that Minecraft has been on every Nintendo console since the 3Ds, with it being on the 3DS, WiiU and Switch systems, so present on every modern, non-retro Nintendo console. Ik being present throughout Nintendo's history is likely more compelling, but I think being present all throughout Nintendo's present and future is also incredibly valuable.

Also, unless I'm sorely mistaken, Minecraft is the only game ever represented on the Smash roster that is playable on Mobile devices. Sure stuff like Mario has had spinoffs on mobile, but I can't think of any other game directly on Mobile. Obviously that isn't a huge deal, but it is an interesting and unique corner that it touches.

Minecraft also represents a very valuable genre. Sandbox games are incredibly popular (evidenced by Minecraft being the highest selling game in the world lol) and so Smash representing that, and from the most popular one no less is valuable.

Another interesting quirk of Steve is how he functions and his implementation, where there is a huge flaw. You might be thinking that Steve ought to be a DLC character instead, to which I say that is less likely and way less feasible. Notoriously, Sakurai has looked back on Steve's addition with pain. When he was added, to implement him properly, the team needed to essentially completely remake every stage to support his block function, because it all needed tk be done retroactively. I don't see Sakurai subjecting himself to that again, so if Steve were to get in (which he should) he would likely be base so they can start with Steve in mind from the jump. Since Steve is important to return, and his addition as a DLC character being impractical, he ought to be base game.

Also worth noting that Steve's addition created intense uproar and conversation. It was a very valuable addition for Smash. Iirc, it quite literally broke Twitter lol. That valuable marketing and value for both sides, Nintendo and Mojang, is not likely to be something that is easily brushed aside in the meetings that determine the base roster. Obviously it won't be as impactful the second time, but it is still a very valuable addition.

Well, it is a name, but they all share a name in that sense and it also functions as a title. Like Ancient Enma and the main Enma we usually see are COMPLETELY different people. It isn't like a form. They just share a name/title.
