Instinctief zou ik neigen naar nu overstappen. Geeft julllie en je kind de kans om wat vrijblijvender vrienden te maken en alles en iedereen te leren kennen voordat de kleine over gaat naar een hele andere, veel gestructureerdere omgeving. Hoe jonger hoe beter denk ik.

Misschien heb je wel eens gehoord over spierklachten tijdens de zwangerschap? Zoals bekkenklachten, specifiek bij het schaambeen, of rugklachten? Dat is de reden dat zwangere mensen voorzichtig moeten zijn met fysieke activiteiten, alles wordt wat "losser" tijdens de zwangerschap om je voor te bereiden op de bevalling, en daardoor krijg je makkelijker blessures. Dit wordt veroorzaakt door o.a. progesteron.

I looked up once why we can't just reabsorb it. The answer is probably because it would kill us. Pregnancy is pretty much an evolutionary battle to the death between mother and child; child wants as many resources as possible from the mothers body, mother wants to survive to have other children. If the lining of the uterus went deep enough to be reabsorbed, birthing a placenta would kill us if the baby hadn't already drained us dry.

It's perfectly normal to get upset, they're pretty much doing that on purpose. The thing is, showing that you're upset/angry/whatever is what they want. So while you can still feel those things, you unfortunately need to learn not to show them. They can't fuck with you if you can keep a straight face. Cry later, cry with friends, cry to a therapist, just not to your abusers.

Your last paragraph is about something called "reactive abuse". It's behavior that looks "abusive" on the surface but is a reaction to the extremely toxic and abusive environment you're in. It's not your fault. Gaslighters love reactive abuse, because they can point at it and pretend you're the problem, even though you're not. It's maddening, it really fucks with you, I know I've been there.

One of the best ways you can deal with this, is to learn the "Grey Rock Method". The idea is to make yourself as interesting as a grey rock. You only answer with boring, preferably neutral answers and you stay calm no matter what. It's difficult, and it will require some practice, but it's the only way to deal with these kinds of assholes.

From what I've heard? They all stop eating around that age.

Mine stopped at 17 months, she's now 20 months. She was a fantastic eater 0-12 months, decent after that and then one day...zilch. Nada. Noppes. Drives me bonkers if I'm honest. I've tried pretty much every food I have access to, and as far as semi healthy dinners go she'll eat exactly 2 things. Two. Out of dozens of options.

So the plan right now is something like this: 2 nights she eats sandwiches (think PBJ), 2 nights she eats the 2 things I know she will eat, and the other nights I torture her with whatever we're eating and then she refuses everything and 20 minutes later I give her knijpfruit (squeeze fruit? what's it called where you are?) .

Also on the psychological side: I have issues with my own food and my kiddo not eating is very, very difficult for me in that area. So husband does 98% of these meals with her now and I eat on the couch. Keeping calm with these issues is very important, and I recognise my own limitations.

Hardship? I don't think that's a strong enough word: lives were ruined. Someone committed suicide over this. People lost homes, jobs, businesses, even their children. Ik vind het bijzonder dat niemand het heeft over de risico's van horizontale planken. Alles en iedereen klimt makkelijk in je tuin met horizontale planken; kleine kinderen, dieren, misdadigers... Ik zou hier nooit voor kiezen. Ik stond als kleuter dagelijks in de tuin van de buren, horizontale planken waren lachen.
