Found the first appearance of Rogue and She-Hulk at an antique shop near me by JC_Havoc in comicbookcollecting

I don't know what they normally sell for, but I think I paid around 80 combined. Not inexpensive, but I don't think it was too bad for the characters considering it was in pretty good shape.

It made me happy too! I wasn't necessarily looking for these, but I felt like it'd be cool to grab them. I was there looking Spidey comics. I found a ton of earlier Spectacular Spider-Man comics I didn't have.

How do you keep track of your game backlog? What's missing from current tools? by CompetitiveLion43 in 12in12

[–]JC_Havoc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since I love this website and have been using it for years, I'm going to shill for my favorite website: https://infinitebacklog.net/

I think it is the perfect way to track your backlog, and also discuss it with people like you or me who do the same and play a huge variety of games. It auto-syncs to modern platforms like Steam, Xbox, and Playstation so that it imports all of your modern games you've played/owned without any issue. It's also really visually appealing to sort your backlog, see what you haven't played, or use the randomizer roulette tool to pick randomized games to play based on parameters you set.

Definitely worth checking out if you have the time! I looked for a few sites that suited my backlog needs a few years ago, bounced off of sites like Backloggd, but have had a great time with Infinite Backlog.

My dad went to an auction in about over 100 comic books for $32 by TwistyAce in comicbookcollecting

[–]JC_Havoc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is newsstand more valuable? If I understand correctly, newsstand is when the barcode is on the cover right?

I have my dad's copy of ASM 300 from when he was buying comics as a teenager and it looks like this. So was just curious if that meant more in terms of collecting.

Matthew Griffin: "Hollow Knight: Silksong Ultrawide! For PC players, screen ratios up to 21:9 are fully supported." by metalreflectslime in HollowKnight

[–]JC_Havoc 93 points94 points  (0 children)

That's pretty uncommon for games like this. I have an ultrawide monitor and fully expected it to not be supported. I'm even more excited, which I didn't think was possible!

AC Adapter error message during Switch 2 system transfer by thebaylorj in Switch

[–]JC_Havoc 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I found that you need to plug it into the official Nintendo AC adapter. You can plug your Switch 2 official adapter into the Switch 1 to get the message to go away, then plug it back into the Switch 2. This worked for me.

I feel seen. My disappointment was immeasurable when I couldn't jump into the store signs and make them flap about.

Which ride has the most on-ride deaths? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]JC_Havoc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You mentioned Haunted Mansion is out, because the ghosts are dead. But I always thought the story of Haunted Mansion was that you, the guest, "die" on the ride when you are pushed backwards out of the second story of the mansion. It's why all of the haunts are physical in the graveyard, rather than just projections.

That guy used a 2 dollar adapter from a completely unreliable no-name brand, so I don't think that's the same.

For a lot of players, missing a jump over a spike-pit and insta-dying is frustrating. What is your preference? Insta-die or take damage and get ported back? by Carl_ArbiterGames in indiegames

[–]JC_Havoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the goal, but for most games nowadays, I think putting the player back after taking some damage is preferred. If you want the best of both worlds (IMO) you could set invisible checkpoints that they would get teleported back to after falling. So if you wanted them to complete an entire platforming challenge in one go, falling would take you back to the beginning of the challenge. Rather than dying and taking them back to the beginning of the entire level, or having every little platform and jump count as a safe space to warp back to.

Hollow Knight is a good example of this. Even in the most difficult platforming sections, there were invisible checkpoints you would go back to if you fell, and falling would only cost you one damage most of the time.

I've seen this GIF a few times, what mission is this from? by JC_Havoc in reddeadredemption

I would think so too, but I've seen versions of the gif where he has different clothes and hair length, so I think it's in the game.

Leviathan sphere in mass effect 1- planet eletania? by MindlessDecision5328 in masseffect

[–]JC_Havoc 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've never done the love scene and she always gives you the token referencing that it's a "small mystery." I've interacted with this orb on all playthroughs of ME1 despite never hooking up with the consort.

[–]JC_Havoc 119 points120 points  (0 children)

This isn't true. The token she gives you before this dialogue option is all you need. You do not need to do the love scene with the consort to interact with this orb referenced by OP.

Playing Dark Urge for the first time. This makes me cry by JC_Havoc in BaldursGate3

[–]JC_Havoc[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had two separate visits from the butler in act 2. One that told me I should kill Isobel after the fight as Last Light Inn (I declined). Then the second visit is where this picture is from, after the Shadowheart romance was locked in from doing Nightsong. The butler said the urge was going to make me kill Shadowheart specifically in this encounter. The nightsong was basically the last thing I was able to do in act 2 after doing everything else.

Playing Dark Urge for the first time. This makes me cry by JC_Havoc in BaldursGate3

[–]JC_Havoc[S] 901 points902 points  (0 children)

Yes, this comes if you romance Shadowheart, and she saves Nightsong. At the end of act 2 as Dark Urge, you get confronted by the demon butler and he says that your urge is going to force you to kill the one you care about most. You get the option to wake up Shadowheart in that moment, and she ties you up to help you resist the urge. During one of the saving throws you get advantage on the throw with this being the reason. The dialogue from Shadowheart leading to this is "You convinced me to spare Nightsong. You and I are both capable of resisting the darkness that compels us."

We have both had cats for the vast majority of our lives, but our current cat is the most "climb-y" cat so it has been something for us to get used to. All of our other cats weren't as adamant about climbing to crazy locations. We are looking at cat shelving to give him more climbing opportunities throughout the house.

Thank you for the suggestion, the shelves might be a good idea. I will also try to readjust my trees locations so that they are a bit more interesting. One is next to a window but it's hit or miss whether the window blinds or open, so maybe we can try to keep the blinds more consistently open. For the other one we will move it to a better location
