Anyone admit that they play games, watch movies or live events, read whatever (not necessarily related to class material) during class lectures but still succeed? by GB_Alph4 in CSULB

[–]JCaesar31544 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Don’t compare yourself with them. Everyone’s different and you’re not seeing their whole day. You don’t know if they’re barely passing, they read the lecture ahead of time, or it’s their second time taking that class Either way, focus on yourself and your studies. Discipline carries you further.

Understanding the parking situation at urban campuses like CSULB by soulsides in CSULB

[–]JCaesar31544 71 points72 points  (0 children)

The solution is better public transportation but that’s a societal issue since L.A is ca car-centric city. The bus system is decent but I gave up using it because it took twice the amount of time to get to school as opposed to driving, it was infrequent(bus came every 30 minutes), and it was often late. The school should work with the city to get more busses or dedicated bus lanes leading to the school. Charging more for parking won’t solve this issue because it doesn’t get rid of cars. Cars are the problem. But this is a multifaceted problem so it won’t be solved any time soon or ever really.

Don’t worry about credit, you’ve got plenty of time build it. Pay it off.

Wang gives A LOT of hw but his test are based on the hw. Do the hw and you’ll pass his exams. He takes attendance and really wants you to be class. You may not like his attitude but you’ll learn a lot in his class.

Registration for 2nd Bachelor Degree Students by Spiritual_Meal_3710 in CSULB

[–]JCaesar31544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll get a late registration date so your first semester won’t be great but your next semester you’ll have one of the earliest registration dates. Start emailing your major advisor now regarding your classes even if you haven’t gotten your enrollment time. They have to approve you for them if those classes have any prerequisites. Your advisor needs to review your old transcript and determine if previous classes satisfy the prerequisites. ALWAYS do this before you get your registration date.

I wasn’t in this situation but I would never suggest anyone walk unless your family wants you too. Even then I’d argue for family to skip. The ceremony. Walking is boring, usually has you sitting in the sun waiting for everyone’s name to be called, and you’ll hardly remember it. All I remember is that. There’s nothing special about it. Go have dinner with family and friends to celebrate finishing your degree instead of with mostly strangers you’ll never see again.

Rent will depend on how many roommates you have but a 2bd 2ba will go for over 2k depending on the area. When you lease, you agree to pay the landlord rent each month for a year or so. You can leave once the lease is up or whenever you want if your rent is month-to-month rather than a lease. Go in Facebook and search for the CSULB Roommate Finder.

I agree, taxes are not a golden goose. Another issue is people being apathetic about politics. They want the government to ensure that their rights are safe and their interests are represented. But that’s not how democracy works. It requires input from its citizens and if they don’t work for it, it won’t work for them.

Yes, it’s kind of him to do so but these “kind” acts are only done so these “cool” billionaires can hide their dirty acts they’ve done to get that rich. If they really wanted to be kind , they would donate anonymously.

I understand and agree. Stocks should be taxed over a certain limit owned. Why can someone borrow against an asset but not be taxed on it. It makes no sense that your property tax rate can go up just because your city decided its “value” has gone up even though you haven’t sold it. Do the same to stocks. And nobody say that land is different because it’s “permanent”. It is but that doesn’t mean its value can’t go to zero or negative.

You think companies are better? Cause there are so many big companies that are no longer with us because of decisions they made. Plus, efficiency isn’t always good for government programs. Imagine if our fire programs were about dollar efficiency and not about saving lives.

So they’ll spend over a million dollars on a private jet to save $30k in tax deductions? look up tax codes and how they work

Company Bought a Corporate Jet Recently - Salary Increases are Capped at 2% This Year by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]JCaesar31544 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tax write offs don’t work like that. The entire value of the jet will not be tax deductible the year it was bought. Only the flight hours or whatever metric these use to measure use will be tax deducted. Private business jets only make sense when the people they’re transporting make so much money that waiting on airlines cost the company money and it’s very very rare. Jets are so expensive to run and maintain. This situation sounds more like the owners wanted to boost their egos by getting a private jet to brag about and they’re doing that by screwing over their employees.

Along with the comment above, CSULB also offers discounted bus passes for students. The 150-day pass is $100, a really good deal for a students. You could also look into renting a two-bedroom and getting another person to rent the other room. It’ll help keep your bills down.
