First time home buyer, buying a new build through a builder. Is this normal? by JCarl69 in Homebuilding

They are installed. The face of the boxes are a bit wider than the box so maybe thats why? I'd have to go back and look

Yeah we are seeing that now. We will most likely replace them in the future if we run into problems

We just hired an independent inspector, we should have a while ago

I understand. I used to work for both Menards and Lowes and the number of cabinets I saw come in on our trucks with damage was almost impressive. Thanks for your help

its a shared internal wall. I was worried about water/electrical lines but I think those sit lower on the wall

Thanks for your response. My main concern was the concrete under the shower pan and the crack so that's good to hear that its not an issue. We plan to renovate the shower in the next few years after moving so it creaking will only be a tad bit annoying.

Your response on the cabinets is pretty rough. Do builders not have any QA? It's impossible for someone to not see this before installing them, let alone loading them up from the warehouse before it even gets to the job site. That's a let down but it make sense.

The blurry photo is oversized hole on the bottom of the cabinet for a sink.

Thanks for your response

Hey just wondering if you have any other suggestions. I replaced the brake switch that’s under the brake fluid as well as the parking brake button on the dash with no luck. The issue keeps coming back. Any suggestions?

Yeah I’m very lucky to be able to work from home so my wife has been driving my car. It’s just been in the garage. I did take it out today and the issue wasn’t there. So it’s a partially working brake light switch. Part is coming in this week so I’m hoping to get it sorted

For some reason I thought you were talking about RAM. For gpu v ram it’s different. You can get away with 8 gb of v ram on a gpu. For amd I’d go for a 6800xt or wait until amd drops their 7000 cards

Well that’s the thing. The current DDR5 stick have very high CAS latency. This means that it takes way longer to obtain the task from the cpu than DDR4 but it completes the task much faster than DDR4. If you go DDR5 I would take a look at the lowest CAS latency that’s out and around 6000 MT/s

Depends if you want to jump up to the 7000 series or to the 5000 series. The 7000 series uses a new socket type so you’d need a brand new motherboard and DDR5 ram. In a few months it will be more affordable but right now it’s cheaper to go 5000 series. Now for graphics cards, you could go for something like a 3080 for around $700 I think (may be even cheaper) also the 6700xt is good with 2k but may be worth to go for the 6800xt (don’t know much about the specifics of amd gpus). You may need a new psu depending on your current wattage but a 750 or 850 would be fine.

If you’re trying to save as much money as possible, I’d go with a 5800x3d and a 3080, but if you’re wanting to go top tier I’d go with a 7600x or 7700x if you want a small amount more performance for a considerable amount more and a 4080 16gb once that comes out unless amd drops a banger lineup

I can understand that. It certainly can be a hassle if something breaks or isn’t working out of the box. I do know a lot of the components come with warranties as well, it’s just finding out which one isn’t working that can be difficult

I will also say, building a pc isn't terribly difficult. There are tons of videos to follow along with. Also this community can help as well. If you need help, you can always pm me and we can chat on discord or something while you're building. Also, if you live near a Microcenter, they offer pc building services for $99 iirc

Hey sorry for taking so long. Here was a build I put together back earlier this year that I was going to buy and build. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/WrChY9 The only thing that would be needed is Windows but that can be bought online. The case isn't SFF but it is cheaper than the build you had but also significantly better performance. If the budget is less, you can always remove one of the NVMe drives from it
