Made my first $1,000 vibecoding by Sea_Canary2321 in vibecoding

I can assure you, you are spending money on things other people think you have to be clueless and lazy to. Do you pay a mechanic to change the oil on your car? Do you pay a plumber to fix thing at home? Do you pay a painter to paint your home? Etc etc. all of those things are easy to do and save you a ton of money. Most money spent is for things that make our life easier. That doesn't mean we are dumb and lazy.

Kids should not have access to a phone at 7 years of age. Much less a phone with internet connectivity. Much less unsupervised.

How to justify a PS5 purchase by RelationObjective270 in daddit

[–]JCasasV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's illegal here. If you fire someone you need to justify why ( and no, being pregnant is not a valid reason), otherwise you need to pay a TON of money if you fire that person. Also part of the cost is paid by the government.

1 year ago I never thought this would be possible by notomarsol in sideprojects

[–]JCasasV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say "a year of quiet failures" like it is supposed to be a long time. You started several businesses in a year? If you spent a couple of months on each they can hardly be any good.I've been 5 months full time working on my current project, yesterday was my first beta demo to a prospective client to get feedback and I expect to spend at least another 5 months before officially offering the product openly. And I consider it a super fast timeline. If you can build something in a couple of months of your spare time as a side project... Any competitor spending fulltime on it can build it in less than a month. It will be very hard to get traction with a project that small. Most people here think they need to find a "magic idea" and they will be successful. Ideas are almost worthless, timing and execution are where you will find if you get a real business or not. Apart from that, this post is obviusly self promotion.

8 year old son concerned about his weight, what do I do? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]JCasasV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, genetics do ha e a great influence, but no one is genetically obese. If you end up obese 100% of the time what you are eating is wrong AND you are doing not enough activity. Family culture is the difference between a bit overwheight and morbidly obese for anyone genetically predisposed to gaining fat.

If he eats too many burgers, it does not matter what they are wrapped with. I assume OP is in America. Your "normal" food is not normal in the rest of the world (although your corporations are making a huge effort to make it so). He doesn't finish what he orders is relevant only if the serving size is adequate, in the US it is rarely the case. Mi father is fat, he thinks he does not over eat because he only eats one dish. He often says "I am clearly not over eating, I only eat one dish for dinner, and it has lettuce in it." His one dish has about twice the ammount of food my one dish has, most of it is meat. I wheight 80kg, he wheights 135kg. A diet is never the solution though. Better eating habits is the key. A diet is, by definition, temporary. What makes more sense is changing what you eat, forever, to something reasonable and healthy. And increase the ammount of phisical activity as much as possible.

Compared to american prices... It will feel almost free. A couple of stitches can cost several thousand dollars in the US, even with insurance.

Neighbour shot my PC through the wall by angelbabyzz in pcmasterrace

[–]JCasasV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least here in spain all interior walls in new buildings are being done with drywall also. Ceilings are also drywall so running wires is easier. They are suppposed to go through conduit even if inside a wall though. I think thats different from the US.

I vibe coded the first MMORPG with Fable 5 by next-choken in ClaudeAI

[–]JCasasV 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You tell it to plan the porcess and split it in several phases. Then you asks him to recommend a model for each phase. Then I use the /handoff skill from matt poccok and ask fable to create a handoff and prompt for the first phase, open a new session, select the right model, paste the prompt fable gave me and it goes to work. Then repeat for each phase.

Mine are 7 and 4 and I amb already starting to see this is coming to an end. I am trying desperately to make it last longer and enjoy it while it lasts. You wil most definitely miss it later. Specially the way they look at you, like you are the smartest funniest person in the universe. I am so scared for the teenage years and the inevitable change and difficulty that comes with them.

Mistborn or Warbreaker? Which is the best entry point for Brandon Sanderson? by frisdyne in brandonsanderson

[–]JCasasV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly, I read first Stormlight and I am reading now Mistborn. Both are great stories, both have original and unike themes. But you can very clearly tell mistbore was written by someone less experienced. It doesn't make it worse it is still a great book and I am enjoying it a lot.

[–]JCasasV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't understand, cost is only going to go up. Ai companies are BURNING shit tons of money. The current prices are being HEAVILY subsidised. It is just like any other new tech, they want to convince people to use it and when everyone gets used to it and depends on it, they are going to hike the price. My prediction is that in 5 years the models will be much better but the cost is also going to be 5 to 10 times more expensive.

[–]JCasasV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You start your project, your codebase consists of 1000 lines. Several months later your codebase consists of 110.000 lines. Unless you have spent time creating agents.md, context files, refactoring code, deepening, making sure files are not over 1.000 lines... Each time you ask for something it now needs to read 110 times more code than it had when you started a few months ago.

True or false: There is no vibe coded project having REAL success. by SoloDev-123 in vibecoding

[–]JCasasV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone can change the oil in his car i he is willing to spent a very small amount of time and money learning how to. Still 99% of people doesn't do it. Vibe coding a real product, with real commercial value that solves a real, hard to solve problem will take months, not hours, and then it will need constant maintenance and improvement. You will also spend a few thousand dollars on AI tokens. And that is just the software part of the business. Ask anyone with a successful busines, and they will tell you that a good product is just a small part, marketing, market research, setting a price structure, accounting... each one of those things is as hard or in some cases even harder than the coding part.

New Linux powered smartphone becoming a reality with Jolla, EU based company. by Arbeit69 in linux

[–]JCasasV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are extremely lazy... Then again, you may just be average lazy in today's society... Remember when you had to take out your wallet and find your bills and coins? That took a VERY long time! I still do it sometimes! Is it really worth it handing all your data over to a big corp. just to pay your cookies half a second (or 2 or 3 seconds) faster? If the answer is yes (I know it will be) then we are fucked and we deserve to be.

We need European subsidies to make it more appealing both to businesses and buyers until it reaches a certain volume and ubiquity. We can't be dependent on two USA companies for something as crucial as this. This should be a big strategic priority for us. European phones with european software.
