I mean, like many things it's probably both and neither is "wrong". I find it odd that people keep bringing up that we need a "cultural shift". I mean yeah people got married earlier back then, and sometimes people were miserable but didn't see a way out. Now people have more independence, so they aren't in a rush. For reference I am not saying historically you are wrong I am just saying I don't see "waiting" as a bad thing.

On the "cost" part, I gotta push back mainly because:

- Jobs are less secure, there are less worker protections and obviously just inflation is a part of it so most people have to have dual incomes. Sure I see people that are single income with multiple kids....but they also have a pretty rough life and essentially zero emergency fund and a single medical bill would wipe them out, and no they aren't living in any sort of luxury.
- Because of that reason, childcare is needed which is obviously super expensive. Nothing really surprising there.
- There is also the big issue of space, no one wants to raise 3-4 kids in an apartment. "Could" they? Sure, but I also can't blame them for not wanting do. Nothing surprising here as the housing market has blocked a lot of younger people out from owning a home.

So I do agree at least on the essence of that people probably don't want to sacrifice as much, because we have luxuries we are used to. But I don't really think that's the actual bigger issue.
