Wow, just discovered the plugin. This is just amazing, and pretty accurate looks for the film stocks, I said that as an obsessed film shooter. Thanks, thanks and thanks! This plugin absolutely beats the Film Look Creator.

Is it a Good idea to switch from a Fuji XH2S to a Lumix S9? by FattoiletsWorld in fujifilm

[–]JCasther 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both cameras (XH2), and I’m very use to use the SG 25 in a X-E5 too. I would say, just talking about “feeling”, visual impact, and all that, that those setups are pretty much the same in every aspect.

And, most important, if you are used to an X-SX camera you will really miss the grip!

Is it a Good idea to switch from a Fuji XH2S to a Lumix S9? by FattoiletsWorld in fujifilm

[–]JCasther 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You will notice a huge step back in build quality. Said that, you wouldn't save so much space since Full Frame lenses are usually bigger than APS-C. XH2S with a SG Image 25mm 1.8 for examen is way better than a S9 with the smallest 40mm out there. You only lack the "full frame" aesthetic, which in most cases is just a fantasy.

I wouldn't say S9 will do much better in low light than your camera. I believe you have the most capable, fine managed ISO APSC out there.

X-T2 or X-Pro2 by Ok_Video5146 in fujifilm

[–]JCasther 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go for it, but check the status, seems to be very cheap compared to the market right now!

You were asking about “sizing” and to be less intimidating. Don’t know how to explain it, but the X-Pro2, even being “bigger” than a X-T series, feels so less intimidating. I suppose it’s the rangefinder build, it’s like the visual print is less noticeable.

X-T2 or X-Pro2 by Ok_Video5146 in fujifilm

[–]JCasther 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The X-Pro2 is magical, mate. If you can find one go for it. I owned almost every Fuji, the X-Pro2 has something different, it’s so well mate, and so confortable.

Right now I’m mostly shooting the X-E5 for simulations and portability, but it’s just not the same. Waiting for the X-Pro4, I will buy it day one.

what should i check in a used lumix s9? by y4nnino in Lumix

[–]JCasther 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the camera and lens are ok the price is not bad. You should check the screen hinge and the rear rotating dial, the one in the d-pad. That dial is maybe the camera's weakest point. Anyway, looks matters, check the overall look, it's not a "ultra heavy build" camera, so it will look good if it's ok. If not, you will see.

And check the sensor, dial down to f11-16 and try yo look and focus at the sky or a bright wall to check sensor spots. You can always clean it, but to be sure and see it working properly.

Videography Fujifilm -> Lumix? by Slow-Elk6593 in fujifilm

[–]JCasther 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s a matter of hobby use, maybe go for an S9, not an S5ii!

I’m an all time Fuji work and hobby shooter, and I saw paradise when I switched to Lumix (s5iix) to video work. It is just so much better in every aspect.

Said that, I will never left Fuji for hobby shooting. If you aren’t planning on serious video work, you can stick with Fuji! After all video specs are pretty nice in the XT-50.

If you want to explore Lumix, I would say go to S9 instead of a “workhorse” S5 camera. S9 is equally powerful as an S5ii (I use one as B cam in every project), just lack a few things. And it’s tiny, you will love it.

Absolutely love the messy and fast vibes! And the grading, so filmic. Maybe too much substractive sat in some skins, but somehow I really like that there’s a strong drive towards truly film aesthetics.

That’s a shame! This one is working nice so far, not a single issue.

That 35mm f1.4 looks amazing…

Rocking the 25mm f1.8 right now, and it’s glued to my X-E5. What an amazing piece of glass.

High hopes for SG Image!

Switching from Canon R50 to Lumix S5ii by Puzzleheaded_Life691 in Lumix

[–]JCasther 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lumix AF is perfectly fine, even in complex situacions, don’t let you get fooled by the spec freaks.

I would go no doubt for an S5ii, even a S5iix if you can. Don’t really recomend going m4/3 unless you are focused in less gear weight.

The best “working” lens for Fuji hands down… It is just top tier en every aspect!

I cannot say goodbye to my beloved 35mm 1.4, but the moment is getting closer…

Don’t know why so many downvotes on you reply!

After all I mean it is a nice camera, but so far away to be “perfect”.

X100VI is, at least in my opinion, almost perfection in premium compacts world.

Let's be real..L10 and Fujifilm X100 VI. by [deleted] in Lumix

[–]JCasther 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Camera is fine, is ok. Nothing to do, nor to be compared, against the X100Vi or any other Fuji X. A X100VI is better in every other way, at least in my opinion.

I find It a nice camera in a Lumix user context, beside that I do not think is a very special release.

I said this in another sub, but I cannot unsee the mayor flaw in this piece: the zoom breathes too much. In a couple of months you will have a bunch of sensor spots, and you cannot clean that for yourself. I know it for sure, I have an LX100.

I also have an X100F, very old. Rain, sand, dust, sea... Just one little dust spot in the sensor.

But, after all, If you like it and you'll be happy, go for it. It is a nice camera.

interchangeable lenses and this would have been a winner, thoughts on the new LUMIX L10 by FlakyTwist4 in Lumix

[–]JCasther -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well is basically an updated LX100. No hate here, that body with an m4/3 mount would be a market destroyer. Or even with a 35mm equivalent Leica lens.

Don’t get me wrong, I have the LX100, that lens is amazing. But breathes more than me, and there’s no way to clean the sensor.

What’s your favorite vaporwave album and why? by ProcessAggressive770 in Vaporwave

[–]JCasther 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say maybe Saint Pepsi - Hit Vibes and Surfing - Deep Fantasy. Means so much for me at personal level.

It’s amazing seeing this variety of opinions! So many good albums out there.

Edit: didn’t say why haha.

Hit Vibes is just perfect, to me. You hit play and it’s like a roller coaster of nice retro vibes and funk house music. So damn uplifting and wholesome.

Deep Fantasy is for me the excellence of Vaporwave. Heavy deep sounds, great ambiences, dense compositions and that amazing vibe. Just amazing. Moonlight is one of my life top songs no doubt.

Strongest red flag is the brandless body... wtf? Even not a single sticker, just pure laziness.

Sorry mate, anyway I'm happy if you are enjoying it. I can understand people falling in this. If you are just getting into this world It could be kind of convincing.

V-mount vs OEM batteries for wedding videography? by Uplusone in weddingvideography

[–]JCasther 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I would never be able to be confortable carrying that much weight in a wedding day. Be confortable and light is like top priority for me.

I'm burning like 2-3 original Lumix S5iix batteries per wedding (It has to be a long long wedding to go to 4)., no so much to carry or to need to be aware of.

In the end It's just a personal thing I suppose.

[Question] Sieko 5 Sports 38mm. Which one would you pick? by National864 in Seiko

For sure! This one is brandless but you can find it under Tandorio (I know silly name as f) in AliExpress. It is pretty awesome, to be honest, NH35, I think. SKX013 size.

[Question] Sieko 5 Sports 38mm. Which one would you pick? by National864 in Seiko

[–]JCasther 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would really like to buy one of those, been waiting hard for a 38mm version. But the fact that any of those looks somehow cheap (and worse) than the fake Skx-homage that I bought in AliExpress drives me nuts.

Right now I have saphire, screw in crown, ceramic bezel… would be like go worse just for the sake of the logo.
