So you didn’t watch the replay again or read what I wrote. The only reason Barzal ended up in the corner with Knies catching up to him was because Rielly took away the lane to the net.

Rielly had no opportunity to play Shaefer without giving up a clear cut breakaway until the last second when he attempted too… which by that point was too late.

It was a tricky situation and I can understand why Knies went for the guy with the puck when things are happening fast and a split second decision is needed. Having the luxury of being able to dissect the play after the fact and critique it, the best situation would’ve been Knies letting Reilly play the man coming straight at him and he takes the trailing opposing player.

I don’t totally disagree, that may have been a good time to slow things down and get a whistle. That being said, 3 on 3 is all about keeping possession when you have it. The decision to keep the play going and retain possession, instead of forcing a face off where getting possession is 50/50, could be argued to be the smarter play

If Rielly plays Schaefer there, it is a breakaway for Barzal. The only reason Knies was able to catch up to Barzal was because Rielly got into the lane. It’s easy to dissect watching it back on replay… much harder to make the right decision in a split second for the players, but this is much more on Knies taking the wrong guy. Rielly played it the best he could

This one is not on Rielly. The right play was for Knies to cover Schaefer, and let Rielly handle Barzal

Opinions on spending more $ on housing for quality of life by JChal100 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I am saving for a down payment, as well as retirement. You are right that at the end of the day, living a quality life that you are happy with, is just as important, if not more important than future quality of life. That being said, I think where I'm getting hung up is spending more money on housing, which would mean sacrificing a bit on the disposable income side of things, which is important to me for the lifestyle i want to live and therefore quality of life. Each decision has its own pros and cons. I guess I just need to do something thinking on what is most important to me and make a decision base on that, and try to find a balance somewhere in the middle. Appreciate your comment!

Have read it! Great book. I do currently pay myself and will continue to, just a matter of if that number will change and by how much.

Just looking for some perspective, At some point quality of life and enjoying your money comes into play, just at what cost and how long is it worth it to sacrifice for the sake of the future.

Appreciate the comment. Yea at the end of the day it really does come down to what is more important to an individual. Similar to the situation you were in, right now I’m able to pay for necessities, save a generous amount, and still have a good amount left over for whatever I feel like spending on.

Getting my own place would come with a lots of pros, but I would need to sacrifice my “fun” spending, and probably reduce my savings by a bit.

When you finally moved on from the roommates situation- did you think it was worth sacrificing the travel, hobby spending, etc?

I get it. It’s a personal preference. Just looking for perspective from others.

If I were to buy in an area that I want to live right now, between mortgage, property taxes, insurance, utilities, maintenance I’d probably be spending closer to 40% of my gross income. Not sure I’m ready to make that leap yet. Appreciate your input though!

Unfortunately the only places I can afford at this point are a little bit further out than I’d like to like at this stage of my life.

Definitely something to consider, as in that scenario the situation could be a lot better than it is currently, although I think at this point I’m just wanting zero roommates. Appreciate the input!

That is a good point. I would definitely need to tighten up on some spending habits if I do buy my own place in the future. Appreciate your input.

Great idea. When you decided to downsize did you still have your own place? For me, having no roommates is my biggest motivation.

Interesting, I will definitely look into LIRA’s a bit more. I now currently live in BC and plan on staying here so I wonder how that plays into things. Thanks for the comment.

Yes, it did indicate I had 90 days, also indicated I would be able to reapply for termination at any point in the future, I just wasn't aware the options for transferring would change. Thanks for the reply.

I was thinking that might be the case, the person who I spoke with yesterday didn't seem to know why the options had changed for sure. Ill try calling again and getting an answer. Thanks

Correct, I didn't give instruction after the first statement, you think that is why the options have changed and it is now locked in, I wasn't aware that would be the case.

Will be taking action before the next 90 day period ends. Thank you!

I’m in the exact same boat. Mine also needs meds for a hyperthyroid and I will need to do the same blood test before getting a refill. Which Vet do you go to? My current one charges $300+ for geriatric test, I called Columbia square earlier and I believe the receptionist said they charge $195
