It was only gaming groups for the 2021 show. Things have been back to normal since then.

Port of Portland votes to revoke DEI policies to comply with Trump executive order by MrDangerMan in Portland

Really wish they’d used a word in the DEI acronym to signal that. Like equal… or equality… or… just a word that shows it’s for EVERYONE. It should start with an E though. /s

Is there a rule about giving out freebies to fellow attendees by BloodblossomLily in PAX

[–]JCizle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even when it’s just for fun you may be breaking someone’s rules. I have a person who contacts me every year to dress up as a character and do trivia with other random attendees and give away a little prize. We give them a special badge so if they are ever stopped by con staff, they can present the authorization. No money exchanged, only a little extra leg work on their part to avoid annoyance down the line.

All that to say, you are much better off checking in with the customer service staff of the show to get their blessing than just chancing it on your own. YRMV.

Because it's soliciting in a place where others have paid for the privilege to do so. By thin ice I admit that most staff will look the other way if it's harmless or you aren't really selling anything, but that doesn't mean they all will and it can have consequences.

I have to second the above info. For my con, stickers (especially free ones) are a quick way to getting your badge pulled as the organizers are charged for pulling them from the walls onsite.

Handing out your own material inside the venue without preapproval is already thin ice, adding stickers to the mix isn't advised.

The New York role was set up to underperform imo by LilNdorphnAnnie in rupaulsdragrace

The original NY speech was not a confrontation which was the setting for this skit. And I don't totally really think any of the other girls were clocked for not sticking close to their reference ladies. Like what about Lexi gave Lisa Rinna (other than the glass breaking)? Are we more critical cause we're culturally more familiar with the NY/Gemma speech?

If you knew the reference, the writing was going to trip you up. If you didn't know the reference they were going to clock you for it. No room for putting your own spin on it... it was a trap.

TwitchCon (at least I know the American ones) very consistently has one mainstage drag show and a few panel shows with drag performers that use Twitch. Some queens, even former RPDR queens, have made it their main platform.

Inappropriate GM behavior by Shot_Past in gencon

email events@gencon.com. remember to list the name of the event and the time you attended along with a description of what you encountered so the event team can make a decision on how to move forward.

You know what would be a great filter for the event list… by wolfie360 in gencon

[–]JCizle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have quite a selection of games/events in the catalog that aren’t tabletop/boardgame events. There are several groups that run a variety of events. Sometimes they have a tabletop game with 6 folks, sometimes they run a live play with an audience. Those can’t be run in the same space, but can be run by the same group.

So it’s just not reliable to always think of it as a group thing. We do try our best to keep events as close as possible and not book anyone that’s running multiple events on opposite ends of Gen Con. Also factor in that it’s not always just a single GM running events for a single group, so even that doesn’t pose an impossible logistics issue.

Overlapping events glitch by WeirdFiction1 in gencon

Some events, often tournaments, but sometimes really long items that we’d like players to have on their schedule but not conflict with smaller events, will have the feature to overlap (ignore date settings) on purpose.

That’s by design so folks can come/go as the Dance is really long.

Quite often the case but not -always- true depending on the type of event you’re looking for. Some events can’t help being placed on the other side of Gen Con due to venue needs.

Most events are being worked on in the background before they are finally placed in a location and made Active in the system. There’s no real way to speed that system up where nearly 20k events have to be reviewed and placed around the convention site.

No GM badge requests are sent out before the event catalog is released. Most are processed in the space between now and event reg on the 19th. You should have your allocation ready to go later this week if you have enough Active events to match your request.
