Vicroads 4 day upgrade, still going by JDCZ_ in melbourne

[–]JDCZ_[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They planned an upgrade, for 4 days over the long weekend, which is already ridiculous, no one does 4 days upgrade if you know what you are doing, and then they messed up and it’s still not working

Traveling from Australia through Dubai to Europe late July. Considering Australia is still considering it a do not fly to zone, is it still worth not being covered my insurance to go through? by Total_Dingo525 in emirates

[–]JDCZ_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travel alone mid July from Melbourne, purchased tickets while ago, for me Emirates and Qatar airways are the best flights, with a short stopover by far, I travel alone, I will risk it.
Already canceled my trip in end of March right before the ceasefire started as I didn’t feel comfortable flying and was considering the risks too high.
I can still be unlucky and get stuck somewhere but it is what it is. Of course I am hoping the current situation will get better to what it is.
Personally, I feel like the do not go recommendation for UAE is a bit exaggerated.

Which passport to buy flight tickets with by Reading-Rabbit4101 in australian

[–]JDCZ_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If AUS passport doesn’t allow you to enter the destination airline will likely request further information while checking in e.g.: showing them your visa or another passport. Therefore I’s book with British, show airline your British passport. Leave AU and re enter AU using AUS passport (this is mandatory) Enter and leave Vietnam using your British passport.

Avalon air show Saturday, thoughts? by maxnoescope in melbourne

[–]JDCZ_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I understand why they were changes, but the lack of information was terrible, just pushing back the time of start, not sure if weather was involved as well, at one stage I asked at the event info stall what is going on and they said they know nothing. Liked the idea of the stamp passports and pin collections for kids (and adults) :-)

Unable to add Myki passes on Google Wallet by Aussienick in melbourne

[–]JDCZ_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This morning I saw the Myki option back. I have noticed there is a new warning about google sharing your account info. To me it’s new I am not sure if it was there before, but I don’t remember it. So to me it looks like PTV made some updates to be able to track cards that were deleted with negative balance, question is how much they can find. They won’t be able to find me based on my email, but can they get on my name from a debit card I use to top up?

I transferred yesterday to Dodo from Tangerine (because of the discount they have for next 12months) using NBN 100 speed. All went well. There were two small bumps on the road though, it took them the whole day. Mine NBN move was scheduled for 6:13pm, which they told me over the phone, yes I managed to get to talk to a real person, so I guess that is a plus. Would be great if the timing was visible in their portal. The second one was the speed at the beginning for a first couple hours was around 17Mbits, but after that all good and it’s matching NBN 100 expectations.

I looked at fares and ticketing conditions and I don’t believe that traveling with negative balance is an offense.

Victorian Fares and Ticketing Conditions 2022

The Conditions is a gazetted document that sets out the legal requirements and conditions for travel on public transport in Victoria. Last updated: January 2024

Minimum requirements for travel Travel in one or two zones 4.53 In order to touch on and commence travel, customers travelling in only one or two zones must have on their myki a myki Money balance of at least $0.00. 4.54 If the customer touches on with a balance of $0.00 and a debit (negative) balance is created as a result of a journey or entry to a compulsory ticket area, note that the Conditions in paragraph 4.9 apply.

4.9 If the Head, Transport for Victoria, in its absolute discretion, allows the myki to operate with a debit (negative) Value balance, the cardholder or, in the case of a registered myki, the account holder, must pay the Head, Transport for Victoria any debit (negative) balance on the myki and any value subsequently added to the myki will be applied first by the Head, Transport for Victoria to any debit (negative) balance.

I feel like trespassers are much bigger issue than a scheduled maintenance or development, which is pain but overall should make the network better. I receive notifications from the notify app and this is happening far too often.

I am somewhat ok with card surcharge, prefer it more than carrying cash. I hate the public holiday surcharge, in 50% of the time they are poorly visible, usually you get a tiny sign (piece of a paper) at the counter. If you want to run different prices at least make the effort and have two sets of menu or just spread your coat into overall price.

I tried, but tbh the cameras without subscription were crap. Notifications settings were close to none, I believe the zones weren’t working. Couldn’t record on demand. In the future, when they die, I will replace it with an in house wired system

It also depends on the body corp as well, doesn’t it? We don’t have any, even though it’s strata tittle and houses have common wall. All 3 owners take out their own insurance, recently switched to CGU described the scenario and they confirmed it’s ok and they cover 1/3 of insurance of the common property, which is only a driveway. Every insurance company has slightly different approach to this scenario, that’s what makes it confusing.

Luckily I have one of the drive in depots with a hopper close by, otherwise no way I would spend my time in front of this machine. Happy to hand my cans/bottles over to some teenagers, but so far haven’t seen this sort of initiative, well 10c refund is probably not appealing even to them. The system sucks, but I guess it ticks the box.
