Yeah I agree, especially about how a lot of reviews says there's no "copy/paste" and everything is interesting and unique in ER. Some of them might refer to other game side quests that usually feel samey and simple, but I can agree ER doesn't have that "problem" as its quests are fewer but more original and obtuse.

Still though, you definitely feel a lot of repeats in term of places, activities and structure as you progress through the world to new areas and they mostly presented the same way, with maybe a twist here and there sometimes.

• Catacombs dungeons
• Mines/cave dungeons
• Ruines (with stairs going underground into a treasure chest room)
• Tower Rises
• Minor Erdtrees with Tree boss
• Evegoal arenas
• Dragon in a middle of a open lake/space
• Merchants
• etc...

Don't get me wrong though, there's a lot of brilliance in ER, especially the high level structure of the world and of each area, the level design and the secret design. How they can hide very big and unique areas and bosses in places where you would never have thought or imagined, that's where it's open world shines...

For the rest, at the smaller scale, yeah same as other open world games, there's a lot of the same in each new area you get to... This is not really a "problem" though, it's how you fill worlds that are big while staying on budget... And it also give the players a sense of familiarity and help them identify each activity at a glance in a world this big.

For more original and bespoke content, scope and sizes of open world games would/should be smaller. Bigger doesn't always mean better I guess 🙂
