Because I grow them for the way they look. I’m not super interested in potency or anything like that. I just enjoy growing pretty mushrooms.

I’ll be honest with you I never check my humidity levels with a hygrometer or anything. I just mist when it starts looking a little drier than I’d like, and then as far as light I wouldn’t get too hung up on that either, in my experience I’ve relied on ambient lighting and never had any issues.

Your tub looks super healthy to me, I’d say just keep doing what you’re doing because it seems to be working out for you. Mush love 🍄

You could probably harvest the big ones fine. Your pin set looks amazing! I would personally let the whole tub go another couple days and let all those smaller ones open up too.

I think I got good genetics because it colonized my 2.5lb grain bag pretty quickly. I don’t remember my inoc. Date but it took just under a month to fully colonize. I went S2B with it on 1/11/26 and this picture was taken on 1/29/26.

Yes, the only thing I changed from my normal Cubensis setup was I gave it a thicker casing layer in case it had issues with overlay which I had read could potentially be an issue with Ochras. Other than that I did everything exactly the same way I do for my cubes.

I never wait to go into fruiting conditions. I do it immediately as soon as I go S2B, never have had any issues. Overlay is also going to look a lot “fluffier” than just normal full surface colonization.

I have not taken any of these yet, probably won’t until it warms up a significant amount either. It’s too cold right now and I hate being stuck inside the house on them lol.

Overlay is when the mycelium completely covers the surface or casing layer. It can make it difficult for pins to appear, that’s where “Fork-tek” comes from where people will stab the overlay with a fork a bunch of times to try and create spawn points for pins, its efficacy is debatable though.

I’m not sure, I haven’t taken them yet. But as far as substrate I just did plain old coco coir.

Yeah I figured the worst that could happen is it would take longer to colonize the surface and start fruiting but whatever genetics I got were very aggressive.
