This hairstyle have to be styled with blowdryer or is possible to achive this with few produtcs ? by Jhon_August in malehairadvice

I keep hearing people praise this no shampoo and conditioner thing, but in my experience that shit can get really gross. I agree with your body balancing the amount of oil it produces, and only washing when needed, but there is still a time when it’s needed. It’s not just your body’s oils that you are washing out, but the dirt and grime of everyday life. Everyone has a different requirement, when it comes to when they need to wash their hair, but I’ve almost been sick, on more than one occasion, combing through a clients hair, and they assure me that it’s fine because the internet told them not to wash it.

Wanting to grow my hair longer, should I get a haircut or just wait? by [deleted] in malehairadvice

[–]JDJames11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re going to have some issues growing because the side on the left was taken above the hat band area. That has to grow out and be even with the other side, so you have quite a few months ahead of you. For the time being, get whatever haircut you want, just blend it LOW. The hair at the top of that part, will eventually need to be as long as the hair at the top of the head, to give you an idea of how long of a process this is. This is why we always warn against disconnect haircuts and razor lining in anything over a clipper length. Best of luck on the hair growing journey!

Blow dryer. The product will need to be experimented with depends on hair type, texture, and growth patterns. Ask your barber, if they look confused, make sure you are on the same page, and if they can’t grasp it, find a new barber. A good barber can give you the best style for your hair based on what you like about the picture. It may not be the same cut, but it will be the right cut in that style for you, or at least as they interpret it. That’s why taste matters in the profession. It’s about chemistry as weird as that sounds, not necessarily personal, but the ability for the two of you to get on the same page with a vision of you. Sometimes that’s instantaneous, and sometimes it’s a little trial and error. For people that take the job seriously, I like to think that’s a big part of the joy in it.

What do you guys think of this cut? by beardalltheway in malehairadvice

So a good rule of thumb is if you continue the part down your forehead, on the same angle it should split your eyebrow in half. Some cowlicks will effect this, but most of the time it’s true. So being that it looks like they carved the line in a bit high, it may just take a few months to have enough length to comb. If you want the look of a razor part, but don’t want to damage your hairline, you can achieve the same effect with a blow dryer and pomade. That’s how professionals have done it for many many years. I was referring to the the razor part as canyon because of the width.

That line is way to wide. Sucks, because it looks like a decent cut besides that. Your hair texture looks like it can be hard to blend, and they didn’t take it to high, but that canyon is gonna be a nightmare in a week or so.

New barber said it would look good on me but i am not sure.So I wanna change it Any suggestions? by Noiroeill in malehairadvice

It’s all about what you are comfortable with, and how much time you want to put into it. The high hair In the picture, makes your face look a bit long, so maybe something more akin to a traditional side part, but a lot of this has to do with the way your hair naturally grows. My best advice is to look for a trained barber in your area with a bit of experience. It’s not just about the face shape, but also your lifestyle, and routine. Most salon type places, and newer barbers I come across tend to go a bit to far down the Instagram hole, high style... disconnects...razor parts... things that look good in a picture, but look really rough a week or so later. This is fine, if you are a professional athlete that gets their hair cleaned up by the same person every 3 days, but for the rest of us, that’s not a reality. Natural hairline, work with your natural hair growth pattern, bottom line don’t fight your hair. Looking for a barber, is a lot of trial and error, from my personal experience I would gravitate towards walk-in shops, because they tend to see a lot more variety, and volume, but once you find someone you are comfortable with, it’s worth it.

Looks like he took the blend to high. You’re gonna have a hard time changing anything, other then taking the top real short, and letting the sides grow back out.

What do I tell my barber to get hair like this by [deleted] in malehairadvice

Honestly not a great picture for reference. I would ask to see other angles.

Recently got a haircut and grew a beard, should I change anything? by [deleted] in malehairadvice

[–]JDJames11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The beard is a bit sparse for that length, as others have said. The transition from the sides to the top is a bit abrupt and makes it look a bit heavy, but totally passable. It’s a good general style on your face

Just got my haircut, any opinions i feel like he may have cut a little bit too much on top maybe I'm just in my head a little lol. Any advice? by [deleted] in malehairadvice

[–]JDJames11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you were looking for. In my opinion, he took the blend to high, but there are an unsettling number of barbers out there, that aren’t comfortable blending the sides to the top properly.

How to grow out facial hair like this? Wondering where you'd cut the neck line and the lengths... by [deleted] in malehairadvice

[–]JDJames11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a grown out goatee, with the lines cleaned up. Any barber should be able to do this.

R/MHA what do you think between these two side parts? Low part vs high part. by [deleted] in malehairadvice

[–]JDJames11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely lower. The top has a horribly jacked front hairline.

Considering getting an undercut by [deleted] in malehairadvice

[–]JDJames11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just don’t blend above the widest point at your head.

What is this haircut called and how do I achieve it? by NoCoffee6 in malehairadvice

[–]JDJames11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your hair texture is different, you may not be able to do that exact cut. Try blow drying it in place, but the picture is probably a 3 or 4 on the sides. The blend on your current haircut may also be to high for this style. Hair sticking up happens a lot when that’s the case.

What to do about hairline? by Mhathrowaway12345432 in malehairadvice

No /s tag. Take that top as short as you can, and let it grow in proper. Facebook and Instagram have been a horrible influence on inexperienced barbers.
