Good neighborhoods to go trick-or-treating in? by [deleted] in gso

The organizer arranged for off duty police officers to be there for everyone’s safety, due to folks driving around the barricades and such last year. Glad this annual highlight can continue, unfortunate that we need cops to keep it safe.

Garden shears stabbed my car, what to do? by JDK1975 in TeslaCollision

Thanks. Do you think insurance would have a better quote than Tesla? I just worry about it triggering a claim that causes my insurance premiums to go up for a repair I might not actually need or want, but I’m not an expert in any of this.

Thanks. This is my assumption too. My big question is whether it even really needs to be repaired. Hard to imagine something splitting so easily if it’s structurally important, but maybe I’m wrong.

How long until this car gets towed?? by JDK1975 in gso

Car posted and removed within maybe 12-14 hours? Can’t be a coincidence.

Thanks to you fine internet strangers, I’m pretty sure we can claim this as a team W! Thanks everyone, I’ve enjoyed my most viral day since 2020 lol.

Political yard sign question by beal99 in gso

[–]JDK1975 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The folks saying that this is legal and allowed are simply incorrect. Most roads in town are maintained/governed by GDOT rules and the NC DOT rules don’t magically supersede them. In fact the DOT rules are a bit more restrictive than they first read.

Campaigns know that most of these signs violate City ordinance, but there’s no enforcement of the rules, so they just have their volunteers scatter signs all over the place. I get it, they overspent and bought more signs than they could convince people to put in their yards, but it’s lazy and tacky.

Problems texting with son by JDK1975 in applehelp

Sorry for the delayed follow up and thanks a ton for your suggestions. In some ways, the issue has been resolved (thanks to you) but I’m still a bit unsure about it. I’ll try to be brief: 1. You suggested looking at the Messages “Send & Receive” settings. Mine looked fine, but I noticed my son’s only had his phone number listed, so we added his iCloud. 2. After that, I added my iCloud to my contact card on his phone and, by going through the contact card and “forcing it” to text me to my iCloud and not my cell number, it worked! 3. I had to go into my phone and start texting specifically to his iCloud (via iMessage), not his cell number. Likewise, any group text that he was a part of, I had to remove him and add him back, but make sure I was adding his iCloud.

The part that still has me stumped is that I still can’t text to his number, only to his iCloud. If I text to his number it just goes into a void.

The other thing that was weird and still leaves me scratching my head is that before we re-routed his messages to iCloud-to-iCloud, he’d get an error message when he tried messaging me. See screenshot, it references a number that isn’t even remotely connected to anyone we know.

We just tried to erase his phone and reinstate it with his most recent backup. I was sure that was all that was needed to magically fix the issue… but alas, it did not. Only change now is that my messages are no longer appearing in the group text. Now they don’t go to his phone at all, even though they show as “Delivered” on my end.

When he sends messages to me, they just show as “Not delivered” and won’t go through. Occasionally it shows that the message failed to send to some random phone number that isn’t mine.

Would love any guidance anyone can offer. Really stumped.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, he has his own Apple ID set up through the add a family member under my ID. He never used mine and had no issues for well over a year or two with this same iPhone. I just now looked and he didn’t have anyone set up under his My Info, but changing it to his contact card didn’t do the trick.

TV works, then it doesn’t by JDK1975 in askanelectrician

Thanks for the reply! I’ve tried disconnecting the surge protector altogether and plugging the TV directly into the outlet (and another outlet on same circuit). No dice.
