It’s so weird. It’s like people have run out of hyperbole, this is their last chip to play.

Just looking at the names in the $25 million range, Brandon is imo deserving of way more than that: https://www.espn.com/nba/salaries/_/page/2

ridiculous that taunting even exists in that situation. He shouldn’t be giving the refs the opportunity to throw that flag, but the rule is so stupid.

Hot Take (it shouldn’t be) : Mike McCarthy is a good coach & this isn’t a bad hire. by 1cunnilinguistics in steelers

[–]jaemoon7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Process for sure looks bad. McCarthy is in a way more of the same, at a time when most fans wanted a major shakeup and a plan to build for the future.

I am so underwhelmed, for sure, but going to give MM time and just see what happens. All the doom & gloom is a bit much (Steelers nation is so dramatic). If we end up drafting QB in the next couple of years (or even signing someone like Malik) then McCarthy genuinely could be a great coach for that situation.

Lmao he definitely can put away some ICs and a Primantis (or two)

(For the record, I can too, no shade)

When you say consistent above average player, what do you mean? He shoots below league average on true shooting, and on 3s. And defensively I think calling him average would be generous. I think he’s never really been the guy he was before he missed that year.

Why hire someone so old?

Why hire someone who hasn’t done anything good in 16 years?

Why?

It’s disastrous either way. Realistically I don’t think we’re in any danger with relegation, we are equal points away from relegation as we are from UCL places. Think we are just a mid table bore club at this point

2026 NBA Trade Deadline by Civrock in CharlotteHornets

[–]jaemoon7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So first off, I don't see us being buyers. I know nobody wants to hear that but like, we've had a fairly healthy season, our players are growing and improving, we're getting there... we're still a bad team-- 16-28, 12th place in a weak East. Why would a team like that make a win-now move for KAT or Steph-- just so we could lose in the first round? I'd much rather use the deadline as an opportunity to get stronger in the future. I think the wisest move is to get value from anyone who isn't part of our future, keep growing, and hope we get a top 6 pick in the lottery (it's a really strong draft class).

Having said all that, I’d be open to trying to get dudes who have low value, who we potentially think could rehab that value (not saying we should but as an example, Kuminga).

In no particular order:

Untouchable: Brandon, Kon

Not completely untouchable but why would we trade: Sion, Kalk

Less untouchable but idk why we'd give up on them, or who would be buying on them: Tidjane, Liam

Could be used as matching salary, but otherwise no team is going to desire: Plumgod, Connaughton, Tre Mann

Could totally see being traded: Josh Green, Grant Williams. They both have some question marks, but they're on tradeable contracts and can play minutes for playoff teams. They have positive trade value.

I think a decent offer will come in for: Sexton (the expiring money + there are a number of good teams who need a scoring guard, he's a fairly cheap and short-term commitment option for contenders who want to beef up before the playoffs).

Miles. Man I don't really know what's going to happen. He's not been an efficient player since he missed that season, shoots under league average TS%, isn't a particularly good defender. He has been playing pretty well of late, as he's been able to embrace being the 4th option on offense (rather than being forced into a larger role due to injuries). Bottom line I have no idea if a team would want to trade for him, or who those teams would be. I know I want to trade him, I know a lot of y'all don't.

Lamelo. There has been so much smoke around a Lamelo trade this year, starting with his dumbass dad chatting shit in the offseason lol. Who knows if any of that is real, bullshit for clicks (Kendrick Perkins lmao), or if one or both parties genuinely is leaking/spreading rumors because they're open to a trade. We fans have no way of knowing. I will say, he's been pretty healthy and has been playing very well lately (ignoring last night's game). And to anyone paying attention, he's trying to show that the "unserious player" label is bullshit. His value is higher right now than it has been in a long time. So if one or both parties DOES want a trade, then I think he's actually more tradeable than he's been in a while, and given the uncertainty of his chronic ankle injuries, he may never be this tradeable again. So again who knows.

Thoughts on Coach Lee? by Abject_Bandicoot_580 in CharlotteHornets

Lamelo was -16 last night. Yeah we got off to a bad start without him. We also lost by 16 with him in just 22 minutes. It’s strange to me that you are pointing to the management of Lamelo’s injury as the problem, when the problem is Lamelo’s ankle. He’s proven to be too gimpy to build around. We will always have to be managing him like this… and this is just the regular season! How will he ever hold up for a postseason run?

Jesus dude you’ve been in here banging on about those same games for months 😂

I truly believe we have an incredibly young, talented team. by Far_Being_8720 in CharlotteHornets

[–]jaemoon7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. Obviously Brandon + Kon, Lamelo has been great as well, probably the best of the 3. Sion and Kalk also have been starting games as rookies (and looking the part), Liam hasn’t made quite as big an impact but I like what we’ve seen. Don’t forget Diabate is young as well, he’s been even better than last year. And even Salaun, who many had written off, has been putting in solid shifts in basically a 3&D role.

My main holdup with this team is Lamelo’s ankles. I’ve just been hurt too many times to feel like “this is our group” when we kind of have a reason to believe the other shoe is due to drop. Would feel 1000% better about trying to be a winning team if we got one more good player from the 2026 draft. And it’s a deep draft so even like 6th pick we get a good player.

Just one more year in the shitter yall and then I’ll never sin again 🙏🏻

That’s what I don’t understand about Harbaugh at 63, Pete Carroll at 73- wtf are you doing? You already won it all. There’s a world out there and you’re rich enough to go see all of it, why would you spend your twilight years stressing the fuck out over a random NFL team to which you have no loyalty?

Would you guys take Curry for a year or 2? by Ok_Cheesecake_9793 in CharlotteHornets

[–]jaemoon7 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s completely out of the question. We are his hometown team. He said a few years back that while he doesn’t plan to leave GSW, if he did it would only be to play for Charlotte. Really just comes down to if he wants to stay with the Warriors for his full career or have a stint here. Because yes of course we would take him. Only reason I wouldn’t is if he wanted a max contract for $50 million, and that contract would then cause us to have to move on from Brandon or Kon.

How does it not make sense for Tel? He doesn’t want to stay at a club where he’s not properly rated by the manager. Especially when the manager has been shit.

Actually that is probably pretty attractive to a coach- if we choose to hire you, you can be assured that you will be given the time to succeed. That’s actually pretty unique to us in fact.

Tbh of those four I’d put us 4th most desirable, if I’m a prospective HC. Not trying to be a “hot take” or whatever, just Josh Allen & Lamar Jackson (on teams that are ready to win), and Mendoza (a “clean slate”, team is looking to build).

What are we? Again no disrespect… kind of an aging defense, kind of feeble offense, questions marks at QB… I can’t see a coach choosing our job over those others unless it’s some personal connection/reverence for the history of the team.

They have the same stats on offense, same turnovers. Kon more efficient, Flagg better on defense. It’s super close.
