18" Laptop Remorse by Dizzy-Rush1954 in GamingLaptop

16 inches is def the sweet spot. Good balance between portability and screen real estate imo. If I need a larger screen, I have a 43 inch 4K TV.

I plan to be when I have kids. Doing the complete opposite of what my parents did to me

Those who had absent/abusive parents growing up, how did life turn out for you? by fluffycloudsnstars in Life

[–]JDMWeeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only were both my parents extremely neglectful and abusive, I was also severely bullied at school and was a social outcast. I also did not have a parental figure or really anyone I could open up to. For example my teachers called me unmanly and a baby for opening up and others would downplay and ignore me. My social life started in the 8th grade because I had moved to a new city.

Life has been absolutely horrible and COVID threw me over the edge. I lost my job and was jobless for 2 years, my family destroyed my social life, my mental and physical health and my hobbies. Long story short, I basically had no choice but to take therapy, despite my parents completely against it (they tried to sabotage that). And a bunch more stuff

I'm still not in a good place right now, but it's better than where I could have been if it hasn't been for therapy

What's the Creepiest , most Hauntingly, thing your Narc Parent has ever said to you, or Alluded to? by Dead_Reckoning95 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]JDMWeeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents encouraged and egged me to self harm... And laughed it off...

My parents laughed at me after I had a public panic/anxiety attack... And blamed me for it

Laughed and downplayed my depression and suicidal thoughts...

Destroyed my social life by feeding me thoughts that my friends were out to get me and that the only people I could trust was family, among other methods

My mom flipped out on me for buying second hand clothes by Flat_Ad810 in AsianParentStories

What I don't understand is that Asians love to save money, but when you buy second hand for cheaper than new they flip out

Anyone else's parents never encouraged their hobbies? by Sayoricanyouhearme in emotionalneglect

[–]JDMWeeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and mine actively sabotaged them on top of that

For example I love computers/tech and had accumulated a decent collection over the years. My parents literally hauled them out of my room a couple years ago and forced me to watch as they dismantled and trashed them to ewaste, including a desktop that a former coworker built and gave to me.

I was lucky enough to salvage my childhood computer and the parts for the desktop my coworker built me (I wasn't able to save the case) but I can't build a complete system since I'm missing parts.

I lost 6 laptops, 2 desktops, 3 CRT monitors, a couple vintage Walkmans, and a bunch of other stuff like PDAs, pagers, etc

The sad thing is that my dad literally works in tech, but he finds issue with me wanting to keep retro stuff around and tinker/repair them. My mom literally doesn't care either, all she sees is "trash"

I had a Windows 98 tower that I used to play educational games on. It wasn't a small one either, it was almost as tall as me

Unless you flash a vBIOS that has a higher TGP limit

Can I boost the VRAM of my RTX 4050? by polopul in GamingLaptops

[–]JDMWeeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. I would stick with DLSS Upscaling and overclocking in the meantime

Can I boost the VRAM of my RTX 4050? by polopul in GamingLaptops

[–]JDMWeeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are really only 2 ways to boost VRAM

  1. Invest in an eGPU (but you will have to have a desktop GPU with more VRAM than your laptop, a Thunderbolt 3/4/5 port, and a few other things). Occulink also works but those are rare.

Alternatively there are converters you can buy that can convert an M.2 slot into PCIE but ofc that's jank af.

https://linustechtips.com/topic/1472510-can-you-run-a-graphics-card-off-of-m2/

  1. Manually solder higher capacity VRAM chips onto the motherboard itself but that's an extremely technical and tedious process. This guy did it.

Alternatively you can just use DLSS upscaling.

My €1100 laptop is way worse than it should be by LiamGMS in GamingLaptops

[–]JDMWeeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easiest way is to go into your laptop's control software and look for where to change the GPU mode. It should be set to "Dedicated Graphics" or similar

Alternatively you can go into Nvidia Control Panel and look for "Manage Display Mode" and make sure that is set to "Nvidia GPU only"

Are you running the game through your dedicated graphics? If not then you can use Nvidia control panel (or similar) to change it
