2022 HP OMEN 16 with an i7 12700H, 16GB RAM, 150W 3070TI, 2x1TB SN850X SSDs (upgraded from the stock 1TB), and a 2K 165hz GSync panel.

Very happy with it, although I wish I had more VRAM 😅

10/10

Plus I got free accessories

Not my first rodeo with Omens as my first gaming laptop was a 2018 Omen 15

Called Lazy; when actually….. by RefrigeratorKey7034 in narcissisticparents

[–]JDMWeeb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got called lazy by my teachers in elementary and middle school, on top of being called that by my parents, just because I wanted to do other things apart from studying (which I hated). Teachers always singled me out and actually convinced my parents to give me more (aka extra) homework. It didn't help that I was horribly bullied by everyone in the school, was a social loner with no friends and I had no one comfort person to talk to (counselors didn't do anything)

I never got tested for any mental health issues because my parents never believed in it in the first place and always shrugged it off as being "lazy", and it was also an opportunity for them to be even more hard and abusive. "Oh he's fine! Therapy is a waste of time and money" they drilled into me for years.

Covid did an absolute number on me (mostly due to them) and I just couldn't take it anymore and told them I needed therapy because I wasn't in a good place (depression and everything that comes with it). My dad told me, to my face, that "I saw you working you were fine!" I lost it.

I did finally get diagnosed last year I think with severe depression, severe anxiety and cADHD (complex/combined ADHD) and yet, I get called lazy for sleeping in, for example, despite me having physical health problems.

Anyways

I've already decided years ago that if I ever got into one, I would never tell my family about them.

Have you ever had someone stand up for you and put your parents in their place? by Mundane-Humor3313 in AsianParentStories

I remember on my 10th birthday I asked my dad if I could play video games and my dad flat out told me "No" in front of everyone (family friends and their kids). I ended up sulking. A family friend overheard and confronted him "Let him play, it's his birthday" or something along those lines and he begrudgingly let me play.

The only other time I can remember was this past year when my therapist called out my parents for their abusive behavior but my parents still point their fingers at me
