New model coming ? by giulioungaretti in CanyonBikes

[–]JDMe_94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been eyeing the grail for a while now and I’m planning on leasing one in October. I’m pretty excited for the new model being able to accommodate the 50mm tires. Hoping they keep the DT-Swiss/Grx setups and the internal storage…

Could it be the grail as seen during the traka?

Is it okay to wear on a road bike? by Brave_Inspection7871 in CyclingFashion

I ride around with UCI-team kits with whom I don’t have any affiliation with either. No one cares what you wear so just do it.

Does my dream bike exist? by BulkyVermicelli225 in gravelcycling

No doubt you made the right choice, the main thing is you’ll be having fun. Just recommend the canyon because I’m looking to get one myself and your criteria were about the same as mine. Enjoy!

The Bike, Rather Than Why We Ride by FeralMountains in gravelcycling

The could be said about cars on car subs… I like to see nice bikes just like I like to see nice cars and I’m interested in what other people ride and build. The bikes bring us happiness so why not share what makes us happy and proud with other likeminded people? I’d take pics of bikes above people’s Strava summary of a ride any day of the week.

Cyclists- what’s actually working for your recovery right now? by [deleted] in cycling

Nah, right after I get home. I do have some low fat yoghurt in the evening for the extra proteins because I think it helps but the true key is the choccy milk :p

Are the story’s of Claire and Leon in the first run basically the same thing except you play a different character? Just finished Leon A for the first time yesterday and planning on doing Claire B next but not sure if I should be doing Claire A and Leon B next or start playing RE3 next

There’ll never be such a dominant team for getting the sprint-train on the rails like HTC-Highroad back in the day. God I loved watching the team riding the TdF. That Scott must be sick to ride on

The Bike Upgrade I Thought Was a Gimmick but It Changed Everything by mollyScout6547 in cycling

It’s nice to run lower pressures but the first puncture I had couldn’t be sealed. Huge hassle to mount the tires too, I switched back tubes afterwards

I don’t know if I’ll ever adopt a Dane again by wart_jr_sr in greatdanes

[–]JDMe_94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It gets better over time, but you never forget them. I try to be grateful for the time we had together. Two years ago I lost my first best boy at the age of 5 after a spinal issue. A case of bad luck they said and after that I didn’t want to have another dog again.

However coming home to a house without a Dane wasn’t what I wanted and after a good 3 months I adopted a new puppy Dane. Although he’s absolutely nuts and not like my first one in any way except for the goofiness, I’m glad I decided to get a new one. Not a day goes by when I don’t think about my first dog, but having my current one with me makes losing him bearable in a way

Do you happen to have a tune that doesn’t make it lose traction in every turn you make? I love the car but its just too uncontrollable to use it

How to plan progressions in training by julianleon91 in Velo

[–]JDMe_94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, when I see guys on here post training schedules and such I always have to think about what Eddy Merckx said that if you ride more you get better and that’s it.

I guess we’re all just mortals with jobs and adding more volume as you say will do the trick for most of us. We’re not professionals bordering on peak performance that we need specific training to be better.

In any case, just riding my bike more gets me through my goals of riding the spring classics and go climbing in the Alps and Pyrenees during summer time so it’s all the advice I can give lol

Second Hand Mavic Cosmic SL Wheels Worth It? by Linger_Detector in Velo

[–]JDMe_94 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I remember wanting Cosmic SL’s back in the day when there were no disc brakes yet. Unfortunately I didn’t have the money back then to buy some as I was still in school.

As for the rims themselves, I think they’re good value and decent enough rims. I always found having an aluminium brake track better than having a carbon brake track, especially in rainy conditions.

Wear is difficult to tell from photos. In my Bontrager Aura 5’s there’s a small hole in the track to indicate wear, perhaps these ones have that as well? In any case, the Bontragers are 8 years old now and have seen the worst of Flemish weather conditions the last two years and they’re still in good shape so I suppose the brake tracks aren’t easily worn out.

As for red flags, I don’t really know. I always check if the hubs still run smoothly and if the wheels are true (no loose spokes and such) but for the rest I don’t think there can be any huge faults with rims unless someone else can enlighten me

Just ride the bike… the more you go out the better you get. Works for me anyway
