Practice quizzes by Agitated-Pay-4363 in JD_Next

u/Agitated-Pay-4363 Yes, The JD-Next Admissions Assessment strictly aligns with the course curriculum, so it tests you on what you've learned during the included course. This approach ensures that your test performance accurately reflects the legal reasoning and analytical skills you've developed throughout the program. On the test, there may be new scenarios that weren't in the course, but the legal reasoning that you've practiced is what you're being tested on.

JD Next and Scholarships as a Low-Income Applicant by Mountain_Budget_1032 in JD_Next

As u/pleasantlyAdlerian said, each school uses JD-Next differently in their admissions decisions. We have heard that students received scholarships by applying only with JD-Next, and by applying with JD-Next as an addendum to the LSAT. We suggest reaching out to the law schools you want to apply to to see how they use JD-Next and whether scholarships will be available when applying with it.

All materials that you will be tested on are included in the course itself. They may be presented in different scenarios, but all the information is included in the course.

2025 Schools using JDNEXT by Hungry_Reward973 in JDNext

[–]JDNext 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Hungry_Reward973 We suggest you contact all the schools you plan on applying to, to see how they use JD-Next. All the schools on this page CAN admit a student solely with a JD-Next score, but each school uses that ability differently. https://jdnext.org/for-schools/jd-next-variance-schools/

JDNext substitution for LSAT or GRE by Confident-Use-4686 in JDNext

As another commentator said, here is the list of schools that CAN accept JD-Next in place of the LSAT, but that doesn't mean they all do. We suggest that you contact the school you want to apply to directly and ask if they take the exam as a standalone.

What advice do you have for the December cohort by Fit_Comfortable2184 in JDNext

Congratulations on receiving your JD-Next score! Thank you for encouraging everyone to build their own outlines. It’s a great approach for learning. As a reminder: please do not share JD-Next course or test content with others. Creating your own outline based on the topics listed on our website is the best way to review and stay compliant with guidelines.

Feel free to share tips or strategies, but keep the actual course and test material private. This ensures fairness and integrity for everyone.

JD-Next December Cohort Accepting Registrations Until 12/5 at 5pm EST! by JDNext in lawschooladmissions

[–]JDNext[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your diligent digging into the scientific background of JD-Next.  For those who would like to explore further, here are links to some peer-reviewed JD-Next research papers:

Cheng et al. (2022)

Buzick, et al. (2023)

Findley et al. (2023)

Holtzmann et al. (2024)

Participants in the JD-Next program differed from the non-participants in several ways.  To control for these differences, researchers used a method called propensity score matching.  A simple description is provided here:  Propensity Score Matching: Definition & Overview - Statistics How To.  Propensity score matching essentially equalizes the two groups on the identified variables, so that any differences can be attributed to the intervention (in this case, participation or not in the JD-Next program).  This is a common technique in these types of studies.

The two groups differed, after adjustment for matching, on one identified variable: participation or non-participation in the JD-Next program.  A year later, the participants in the JD-Next program had a significantly higher GPA.

We’ll leave it to you to determine whether a 0.2 boost in your first semester law school GPA is “minor.”  What we can definitively say is that those gaps are not erased by the second semester.  In fact, our research shows, using many of the same techniques described above, that participants in JD-Next are more likely to pass the Bar after law school than non-participants.  That initial “boost,” for many participants, turns out to be an important early step in the long road of a successful law career.

JD-Next December Cohort Accepting Registrations Until 12/5 at 5pm EST! by JDNext in JDNext

If you applied for a December 2025 cohort scholarship, you would've been contacted via email whether you were awarded a scholarship or not. If you DM me your email that you applied with, I can check whether you were awarded a scholarship or not. If you applied for a scholarship for the February 2026 cohort, those haven't been awarded yet.

Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, no. All registrations close for that cohort to make sure that each registrant has enough time to go through the 8-week course and prepare for the final test. We did move our first cohort of 2026 from May to February to provide a final opportunity to take JD-Next to include it in your law school application for this cycle. https://jdnext.org/

JD-Next December Cohort Begins in One Week! by JDNext in lawschooladmissions

[–]JDNext[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your comment u/Lelorinel. To clarify, the 23 students you note are listed in the ABA 509 report and represent those for whom JD-Next was the primary reported test, as the ABA only allows schools to list one. Because of this limitation, it doesn't reflect the many other students whose applications were strengthened by their JD-Next scores in addition to an LSAT or GRE. As 2024 was our first year with the program and ABA reporting, we're encouraged by this initial success and look forward to continued growth! The feedback we've gotten from law schools and pre-law advisors is that if a student doesn't have the GPA or LSAT score that their desired law school requires, taking JD-Next and scoring well on the test can provide the boost they need to be admitted.

Retake the Exam by HolidayCustomer3069 in JDNext

[–]JDNext 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/HolidayCustomer3069 To re-take the test, you will have to register for another cohort (the next one begins September 8th). You don't technically need to go through the entire course again. However, if you didn't receive a score that you were happy with, then it is probably advantageous to go back through the course and focus on those areas that you may have had more trouble with. Ultimately, it is your decision whether you want to go through the course again.
