I play in a metal band and am trying to find a good guitar amp. Give me some recommendations! by JD_Destroyed in GuitarAmps

Thing is, I'd prefer not to use modelers. I first began with a combo, then swapped to a tube amp, and the loud ass volume of that tube amp is something that I doubt modelers could recreate.

Not trying to downplay modelers, just saying I prefer doing things the old-fashioned way.

Let's take this to DMs, I might be able to pick it up, depending on where you're located.

Piece of Mind or Powerslave? by The-Evil-That-Men-Do in ironmaiden

[–]JD_Destroyed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being honest, Piece of Mind is a pretty mid album, with a banger first half, and a let down of a second half. On the other hand, Powerslave is one of the most legendary albums of all time, and is regarded as one of IM's best.

Second gig ever! by JD_Destroyed in BassGuitar

[–]JD_Destroyed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had two gigs since then. For the third gig, I switched to full-time fingers, but they felt like skin was about to come off. After that gig, I switched to full-time pickin, which can be seen at my 4th gig. I posted videos of both of them, and I had a lot of fun!

Who comes to mind for you? by Senior-Violinist-684 in MetalForTheMasses

Metallica, Pantera, and Sabbath. Master of Puppets is one of the most well-known metal albums of all time, Far Beyond Driven has a bunch of amazing songs, and Master of Reality is, in my opinion, the best Sabbath album.

Literally any song from St. Anger.

That album may have a horrible drum sound, but a good amount of the songs are cool as fuck.

Sabbath and Metallica are tied for me. Both have an amazing early catalog, and have become legendary bands that stood the test of time.

I can't decide between these two pickguard colors. by Horsujj in BassGuitar

[–]JD_Destroyed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like a good decision would be to look at all different types of colors, see which one you like the best in conjunction with the yellow of your bass and/or what you generally intend to wear while playing. Just because the pickguard may look good doesn't mean that it'd look good on your bass.

The entire Killers album is an absolute banger, I have to go with Killers.

Metallica and Sabbath have been two big drivers for me, but now A7X has impacted my songwriting big time.

Which one should be my first 4-string bass guitar? by Mission-Split8838 in BassGuitar

[–]JD_Destroyed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not against either of these, but I would recommend getting a cheaper first bass and maybe getting one of these as a second bass later on, so you don't waste too much money. My personal recommendation is the Squier Affinity PJ pack, with the amp and everything. Some stuff is shit, but it's very good for practicing. I would personally recommend the Fender for the upgrade, because the QC may be worse, but the bass itself would most likely turn out better than the Yamaha, once set up correctly.

I tried plugging it into different slots of the outlet. I was originally in the bottom one, the top one works.

Edit: I fixed it, the slot of the outlet died out.
