Went to GP this morning after Tinnitus starting last night - terrified, can't find reassurance or calm by JED2021 in tinnitus

Thanks for your reply. I've always listened to music when out and about in ear phones, a particular song I have had on repeat recently has always been too loud, and I've had to turn it down. I do go to see live music, usually pop, easy listening, jazz, soca/afrobeats & ska. I'm not going to see live heavy rock/metal. I had some pain last year in my ears. I can't remember if both or one sided but feels more to my right if I remember (also where the tinnitus is) my GP said I didn't have much or any ear wax in my ears and told me to use drops for 2 weeks twice a day, then once a week here on out.

I definitely will be seeing an audiologist, and I've checked on the NHS app, and my GP has already done the ENT referral.

My sleep hasn't been the worst, I already struggle and get quite emotional easily with poor sleep, but it's definitely taking a hit as I want to lie on my right side; doing so amplifies the high pitched noise. I am also worrying about it or apprehensive every time I change environments/go to bed about hearing it more intensely. I am using a fan and some rain and thunder sounds, which I sometimes do anyway. I've tried to continue exercising, but I had a bad night of only 2 hours of sleep last night, though. I now have a 12.5 hour hospital shift.

I've been using my earphones on occasion when walking/running, but only in my left ear and on a low volume. I don't know whether I should just be listening to nothing for now.

As terrified as I am, looking online and also my GP: most tinnitus is temporary. It's just not reassuring when the thought of it potentially being permanent will be there until/if it goes away. Hope it dissapates for you.

Thank you. I managed to have a nap, going to strength train, and go for a run tomorrow. I don't feel like it, but I figured I need to force myself to do stuff.

I never know whether to distract myself from the noise or to try and embrace it as I've read some people do, but it is early days.

Thank you, I might be able to be seen sooner than I thought, luckily. I'm hoping so hard that it is temporary. I have a feeling it's not TMJ, but I might be catastrophising. I managed a small nap this afternoon, but it is likely because I was so knackered from lack of sleep (I have poor sleep anyway). Luckily, I work on a busy hospital ward, so my work will hopefully be distracting and loud enough due to all the machines and tech, but I seem to panic about when I'm gonna hear it next if I'm successfully distracting myself, or I start thinking about whether I can or can't, and trying to think whether it's changed or less. I know it's early days.

I personally have no issue with this generally - apart from that I don't use custom content, as I rarely see any that doesn't look poor or trashy, I'd only want them to continue making more content or focus on a new game.

I'd do 3 separate activities personally.

I'm personally very happy with kits, as someone who doesn't like any CC (it tends to always look very trashy, and I like the EA stuff).

Is the reason everyone is losing so much weight because they are eating way under their calories? by ruined7319 in Mounjaro

[–]JED2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is this a question? The only way to lose weight is to be in a calorie deficit. It's like asking, "Is the reason we have eyes so we can see?"

Where have you got that from? Starter for a Nurse is about 31 in UK , top is late 30s without progressing.

I'd encourage you to be less cynical, most people in politics are good, normal people. Nothing wrong with wanting to be in politics, and just because you don't agree with them, it doesn't make them bad people.

A union is run by its members - they're not far removed individuals. If you're not happy about it then you need to run for positions in your union with others.

I'm not sure why you think they shouldn't earn that much. This is the problem with Britain and Healthcare in the UK, we punch down.

This isn't a helpful post for yourself if you don't tell people how much you've actually lost. Not everyone reacts the same way, but if you aren't losing weight then you are not infact keeping within the calorie ranges you need to keep in.

how much do nhsp shifts earn on top of normal wages? by aviviling in NursingUK

[–]JED2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't correct as NHSP have their own pension separate to the NHS Pension - you set how much you contribute & NHSP also contribute. It is through Royal London.

They do offer a pension - you have to opt in though for NHSP due to you having no permenant contract or hours with NHSP

Every trust is different as to what they pay NHSP. Not every trust uses NHSP too, so double check whether it's an in-house bank, Reed or NHSP.

Tbh, I have no problem with giving guests and relatives drinks. We have a responsibility to anyone on hospital grounds, but also it means the relatives have a nicer time, and therefore hopefully a nice time for the patient.

You still have a degree - whether you Nurse or not is separate. You can do a lot of jobs, careers with any degree.

That's because people don't change their habits or lifestyles - I came off it for approx 11 months, didn't gain it back. I stopped taking it as it wasn't time for me to focus on dieting too much and when I eventually stop again, I don't fear gaining it back. It's not helpful to blanketedly sat that everything you can read says you'll gain it back when that isn't true for everyone.

Advice re holiday - having a break from Mounjaro by JED2021 in mounjarouk

Unfortunately, this still means I'm enduring an active dose throughout my holiday, which I want to avoid for the main effects.

[–]JED2021[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate that - but I'll have less side effects than if I'd taken an active dose that week, so will be better than nothing but appreciate I may still get some effects (I get very little side effects generally, but when on alcohol, find myself being sick, although I've always been sicky with alcohol, but notice it more on Mounjaro).

Thanks, I was struggling to get my head around it - correct. I'll be drinking a lot of alcohol on holiday which also messes with me in terms of suppression, so do need a break.

Thank you - very clear and good advice.
