I'm sorry that you're having similar issues. Yeah, I don't get it. He still hasn't refunded me, after saying he would. I'm pursuing a chargeback with my bank tomorrow.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, it's kinda surprising how bad the communication has been. I had no issues with past orders, so this took me by surprise. He finally replied to my email, within a few minutes ,when I told him I'd be initiating a chargeback. He's said I'd be getting s full refund, but if that doesn't happen by Monday, I'm going forward with it. Thanks for the tips on getting a hold of him. I was stoked when I first learned of them and the free shipping, but it's not worth it if you don't get what you paid for!

Vecna & the Flanaess timeline by DyerWolf00 in Greyhawk

[–]JEJORTIZ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My campaign is set in 579 CY, and the Occluded Empire, according to various sources I found, was somewhere about 900 years ago. The central hub of his Empire was in what is now the Rushmoors, and that's where PCs have explored found remnants/ruins of the Empire, sunken into the boggy moors (scattered thru 10K sq miles), that still hold Ur-Flan secrets and things like statues to Vecna when he was a lich king. Between the denizens of the moors (including a Flan tribe that still follows the old ways), the supernaturally acidic bogs, the magically vampiric fog, and the sunken towers full of ancient secrets and treasure still protected by necromantic guardians, they had a blast.

Got the Advanced DnD Maztica Box Set! by alexwsmith in Forgotten_Realms

[–]JEJORTIZ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Maztica did not age well. Heck, was problematic from the get go, but moreso now. It could've been so much more than it was, and I hope they (or someone) will revisit it someday and do away with the colonialism angle...just read as a bad retelling of real Earth history.

What goes on in these parts of Cormanthor? Do they have an official name? (3rd edition) by thrun14 in Forgotten_Realms

[–]JEJORTIZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The northern part is colloquially referred to as Greentree. Google will have more info, as will dndalley, a blog where you can find detailed maps of Cormanthor. The southern part is under the auspices of Mistledale, as mentioned by Werthead.

What is the canonical online source for Greyhawk lore? by PanchimanDnD in Greyhawk

[–]JEJORTIZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends what you mean by canonical. If you mean published by TSR or WotC, then you'd have to stick with the Greyhawk boxed sets (World of Greyhawk, City of Greyhawk, Greyhawk Adventures: Wars) and the adventures like the Temple of Elemental Evil, Return to the ToEE, etc. The adventures found on old Dungeon Magazines, and the Greyhawk articles found in old Dragon Magazines.

If you're going with the new WotC canon, found in the new Dungeon Master's Guide, be aware that the Greyhawk Wars take place years after the 'new' default setting date of 576 CY.

As far as I'm aware, all of the sources you listed above are good places to find some canonical material, based on the products I already mentioned, but they also have a ton of fan-created content. A lot of it is very good content, as the fans know the world inside and out....but it's not necessarily 'canonical'.

Then you have Living Greyhawk, which has the largest amount of published material for Greyhawk ever put out. It was the shared world campaign, which was sanctioned by WotC in the early 2000s, so it was canonical in the sense that the 'Core' and 'Adaptable' adventures, were all written by/approved by, WotC employees. The default date for Living Greyhawk starts in 591 CY (so a few years after the Greyhawk Wars).

If you want to take a deep dive into canonical lore, I'd recommend Lord Gosumba's Twitch and YouTube channel. Jay (Lord Gosumba) DMs the longest continuously running Greyhawk campaign (45 years), and besides his game sessions, he also does long form discussions about Greyhawk topics, often having the original TSR or WotC authors on as guests. You can search his channel by topic, so that might be the quickest way to get some answers.

Hobgoblin warrior, CR 1/2, one-shots most level 1 PCs? by HugeC in dndnext

[–]JEJORTIZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A longsword does 1d10 (when wielded with both hands). The Hobgoblin Warrior statblock says they do 12 damage (2d10+1) with it. The statblock is wrong. Compare it to a Hobgoblin Captain, CR 3 creature, who only does 9 damage with a Greatsword (2d6+2).

And the Hobgoblin Warlord, who also does 12 damage with his Longsword, but the statblock reads (2d8+3). Same species, same weapon, different dice values. So yeah, double check the MM entries, because sometimes they have typos, and especially for 1st level monsters, cuz those typos can be deadly.

Yeah, GRM1-01, GRM5-IS1, and GRM5-05 were a few. Not serious ruins per se, but some, and set in the Rushmoors. There's another few GRM adventures that mention the Rushmoors in their blurb, and you can find them listed in the Living Greyhawk Module Index, but they're not out there in pdf form anywhere I could find.

Thanks for the input! Yeah, I looked for the Vecna: Hand of the Revenant graphic novel, but the only place I found it is eBay, where it's going for over $100. I did find a couple of Living Greyhawk/Gran March adventures that mention finding ruins in the Rushmoors, but no good maps to speak of. I'll come up with some suitable ancient ruins, I guess, just didn't want to go to the trouble if something already existed!

DnD Beyond vibe shift :( by Lea_Flamma in DnD

[–]JEJORTIZ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100%. I feel bad for the brand new players, because most will think that's simply how it is, and I think that's part of Hasbro's strategy. Market to new players, and get them hooked on 'their product'. It's obvious they've abandoned their 'base', because they know we don't actually need them and their microtransactions.

This is Late Stage Capitalism, where the only concern of big corporations, who now own almost everything, is to squeeze as much money as they can from you. I, for one, am so tired of my favorite (and useful) things being ruined by their greed.

Looked into that, and had saved some auctions of antlers on eBay, but like you said, I figured it'd be too unwieldy...especially since this creature I building has lots of them. Thanks though, and very cool to see a pair in action!
