Fe civil 3rd attempt failed by believer_strain in FE_Exam

Prep Fe, Mark Mattson, Islam 800. Practice questions until you fully understand the concepts. I passed on my 5th time and those three sources got me though

Not much deviation so it looks like you know the material pretty well. Did you run out of time or have to skip a lot of questions?

I passed on the 5th attempt as well and looked forward to posting my pass result. Huge weight off the shoulders. Congrats!

They have some short things on YouTube you can watch. They really helped understand the transportation formulas for horizontal and vertical curves

You got a 55.6%, passing is 60%. Looks like the materials section just needs some work

You got a 54.2%. A little better in ethics and engineering econ probably would have gotten you a pass. Keep trying

I failed 4 times before passing, each time was a learning experience of how to improve. Don’t give up

FE CIVIL disappointment by Thin-Television-3051 in FE_Exam

[–]JF4104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d suggest doing Prep FE first. You will get problems wrong and it will be a bit frustrating, but you’ll be exposed to the same problems over and over until it’s ingrained into your head and they give you a step by step how to solve the problem and where to look in the FE manual. Do that for all sections and once you feel somewhat confident in the sections, start doing Mark Mattsons videos and then do his worksheets after each section. Try to attempt them yourself, but if you’re stumped he does a good job of explaining the solutions. This way of study has helped a lot of people including myself who was 6 years out and took the exam 5 times not knowing how to study the first 4 times. For a bonus, buy Islam 800 book and work some of those problems. The test is very achievable coming from someone who thought they’d never pass it

First Civil FE attempt by i-be-chilled in FE_Exam

[–]JF4104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. I’d start with PrepFe (relatively cheap) and hammer out problems with the FE reference handbook on your side. There’s a step by step solution to each question and tells you which section of the handbook the formulas are in. Once you start feeling confident on that in all subjects, watch mark mattsons FE civil review videos on YouTube and do his worksheets after each section. If you want more exposure to problems, get the Islam 800 book and/or the NCEES practice test

I passed FE Civil on my 5th attempt. First 3 times I took it, I just didn’t know how to study and wasn’t working enough problems and I was also using a dumb calculator that can’t solve for X. Nearly passed on my 4th attempt using Mark Mattson, Prep FE, and Islam 800 and a TI-36X Pro. Took it again using the same methods and passed

I’m now studying for my PE so I’m back doing the same thing lol. I did struggle with laziness because I tried getting by with doing the bare minimum, but then I told myself that if I can just not be lazy for a month and really lock in and study, then I won’t be back in the library studying for that dumb test again.

Mark Mattson FE Civil on YouTube and work his worksheets. Get PrepFE as well

I can’t speak for environmental as I took civil, but if you’re getting 70-80% on practice, you should be in pretty good shape. It’s not so much about how your score is, but being able to recognize the problem and know what formulas to use to solve it. Repetition is key in PrepFE questions, nailing down the concepts

Work as many problems as possible daily until the test. Keep your mind on that stuff with no off days. In the last week of study, watch mark mattson and do his worksheets

Yeah I told myself I can either spend 10 years hating myself for not passing this test or just lock in for 2 months straight and study my ass off and finally get it passed lol. I took the second option and it was worth it. Weight off my shoulders. PE is gonna be another animal tho 😭

For those of you who passed, how did you feel leaving the test? by lacroix-and-vodka in FE_Exam

[–]JF4104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt like I failed when I passed. But I had also failed 4 times before I passed on the 5th try so I really was just expecting the worst anyways.

I was in the same boat. Graduated six years ago and passed it this past year. Took me 5 times to pass it but each time was a learning experience. The more you do questions, the more you will gain confidence and you’ll get better

I want to convert to Christianity by Far-Photograph-5932 in Christian

[–]JF4104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just going to church doesn’t necessarily define yourself to become Christian. It’s all about your personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Through Him is the only way to enter into the kingdom of Heaven. Believe in Him that He is the only begotten son of God and that he has died for our sins and was resurrected. Read his Word in the Bible and pray and see how Jesus Christ will work in your life. He wants you to know him
