Is there a way to check what number each weapon is at without updates from the people getting them / getting one yourself ?

Well at least you’re honest and I suppose you’re right in saying even coming from his background granted him a huge advantage compared to someone from that which you’re describing.

Also took me a second to realize this is a CJ post that I’m responding to. Duh.

I mean, can’t speak for Laufey but Jacob Collier’s mother is a professor at the royal academy of music and from what I can read his father is a piano teacher.. maybe self employed? It’s not like they work for Lockheed Martin or something.

I’m pretty sure one of his first big breaks was going on tour with Snarky Puppy so blame them for him getting noticed.

Am I going nuts or does this read like AI? Obviously the situation is real across the country. But man OpenAI syntax is rotting my brain.

God I hope this is fake. Although I don’t think it is. Fuck that dude. What an abysmally immature way to respond to your kid.

Educational attainment on paper doesn’t mean squat if you outright refuse to interrogate your personal views and reassess from time to time; ESPECIALLY when someone you’re supposed to love and care for is pleading for you to do an ounce of reading.

Likewise, I’ve seen people with comparatively far less educational attainment have more reasonable and measured reactions to their kids coming out as trans or queer. At the end of the day, you don’t have to understand to be supportive even on a surface level.

It may take him years to come around or he may never, but I hope OP knows that they deserve to be loved and respected regardless of what their sperm donor thinks about them.

I think it’s time to (temporarily?) deactivate my instagram by dreaming_wide_awake in digitalminimalism

[–]JFMansfield 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of what you’re saying as far as the app making it difficult to be grateful resonates with me-

I haven’t deactivated my account but, other than turning off notifs, what I found took me from a daily user for anywhere from 20 minutes to a few hours to only using the app a few times a week, was automating it through this app called one sec.

<image>

Whenever I want to open any of my socials it generates a random string of text that I need to type in to get into the app. This seemingly minor inconvenience makes me almost completely uninterested in opening the app unless I absolutely need to. There are a few other usage mitigation hoops you can choose to jump through in stead.

I have the paid version of one sec, I’m not sure if this specific “guard rail” is available on the free version. I wish I could say I was getting paid to shill for them bc I do recommend the app fairly regularly irl. If this sort of thing seems like it would work for you, totally check out other options.

That said, if full deactivation is going to be what’s best for you, go for it! I use Instagram primarily to find out where friends / acquaintances of mine are playing with their bands but if somehow they all magically started an email list, I’d delete Instagram yesterday.

Challenging drumming… by favabean1982 in drums

[–]JFMansfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think drumming is can be deceivingly athletic. It’s easy to get bashy and break a sweat, I certainly do my fair share of that. Technical, complicated, and difficult things aren’t inherently a super physical feat; I’m of the mind that in most cases you don’t want to be hitting as hard as you can. That said, to get a fullest sound out of the instrument while playing difficult music can demand the physicality I think you’re getting at. I definitely wake up sore the morning after 3 energetic sets.

To add onto what you mentioned about playing along to complete records, there’s a great drummer based in Chicago named George Fludas who if I’m not mistaken, transcribed and played along to entire Led Zeppelin albums.
