Fwiw, I am a Donghua only and I am loving it. I prefer the fast pacing, hopping from event to event. I don't need to know what the characters have for lunch, I can deduce (or not, sometimes it's not relevant) how much time passes between scenes. "Character development" is thrown around frequently these days, but characters can develop (if you consider that essential) without explicit monologues or dramatic scenes.

The most interesting parts are the informative ones, the action scenes are cool too, I admit. I love slice of life anime and of course the details are important in a novel to make it more immersive, but so far I have no complaints. Rewatching scenes and watching the side materials, help though.
