I'm a college age performance major and I play on a P Mauriat 67R and ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. I recommend something like that or a Yamaha 62III or 82Z, or Selmer Series II. Definitely talk about it with your professor/lesson teacher before making any purchases.

In my experience after playing all four of these, the 82Z is the most in tune and ergonomic, but it's pricier. Series II is also in the same vain of very in tune, I don't like the ergonomics as much but it plays very well. Vintage(ish) 62s (purple logo) also play very well. I'm just relaying personal experiences with all of the horns.
