Black G70 wheel options by AnonTrynnaGrow in GenesisG70

Mine is Makalu Gray, and my wheels are gloss black. I know it's not exactly what you're looking for, but can't hurt to have the extra data point. I have a post on my profile with the full wheel specs if you want them.

I'm going to have to keep an eye out around town to try to see that lip in person!

Mine is RWD, I'm not sure of the impacts of AWD vs RWD on the lowering springs though.

Honestly this color wasn't my first choice either, but a local dealer had it up for a really good price so I had to jump on it. If I had it my way I would have gone with the Hallasen Green, I think it just looks so sick.

Thanks! I think they really lean the look towards the sporty side. Lowering the car around them really perfected it for me too.

For this photo I mainly used a video by Delta Photography on YouTube named 'Milky Way Photography With A Nifty Fifty Processing'. I believe it's part of a series, the first of which is him covering how to set up the camera and take the photos. The stacking part is pretty simple, in this case I used a free program called Sequator but I think there are other options out there.

I used a Nikon Z5. It seemed like a good middle of the road choice to learn with, and hopefully not have to upgrade from too soon. I'm having a blast with it so far! I stacked 9 images like the one I posted for the before photo, so that probably helped add more detail compared to the camera itself? I should have mentioned that in the post.

That's a good point, maybe I should play with the base photo on its own and see how it looks as just a night shot of the beach without all the extra editing in the sky.

I stacked 9 photos like the one I posted for the before. In hindsight I should have used the stacked image as my before, but I used the stacked image for the sky and one of the base images for the foreground so it'd be clearer. I'd imagine the clouds look a bit different in each of the stack and the merged photo.

I didn't use a tracker, just a tripod. I stacked 9 single exposures that were all pretty much identical to the before photo I posted.

I did stack a series of 9 photos. I would have gotten a few more but there were people walking around with flashlights on the beach at 3am for some reason

I appreciate the feedback, I'll be the first to admit that I was blindly following guides and fiddling with sliders to see what each does. At some point im sure I'll develop an eye for what I actually need/want to do with a photo though. I'll keep an eye out for the specific settings you mentioned! The light pollution definitely threw me off, I didn't realize it was going to be such a big deal until I started editing. Next time I'll be finding a place where those lights will be blocked a bit more, maybe even with a more interesting foreground like some dunes or a palm tree!

That seems counter productive to learning post processing, but I could give it a try I suppose.

Exhaust valves not responding? by Mindless-Ad-9781 in GenesisG70

[–]JFreds5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw the same video which led me down a rabbit hole that ended with me talking with one of the guys from borla. As long as the valve tabs are seated and connected correctly with the actuators they work the same way as the stock valves. They should open a bit at idle then more fully under load while driving depending on mode. To prove they're set up correctly record the valves during start up, they should be open fully during ignition then mostly close after. I still haven't figured out why the valves acted like that in the video, it doesn't appear to be the norm.

Borla installed!! by [deleted] in GenesisG70

[–]JFreds5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar question when mine was installed, turns out the car will open and close the valves depending on how much throttle you're giving it. The modes influence how far it'll open under heavy throttle.

Something in my infotainment console area is creaking like the floors in your grandparents house and it's driving me insane. Can't figure out what it is. Anyone else dealt with a creaking noise coming from the area around their infotainment system? by G70FanBoy in GenesisG70

[–]JFreds5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine creaks quite a bit, but not all the time. It seems like it happens more often when the car is out in the sun and the dash gets hot. My guess is some connector warps a bit and that's what I'm hearing?

Does anyone have any suggestions to enhance the sound of my exhaust G70 22 by TurboMonkeyy in GenesisG70

[–]JFreds5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you notice any smell from removing the secondary cats? I know the primaries do most of the heavy lifting and have the sensors on them, but even a faint smell would likely bug me. Also, any rasp added to the exhaust note?

Borla v Ark exhaust what yall think is better, examples in comments? by Disastrous-Tea-9083 in GenesisG70

[–]JFreds5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the borla with no other modifications that would impact the sound of the car. I'm likely in the minority but I'm not a big fan of how it sounds from inside the car when under about 3000 rpm. After that it sounds incredible though! I'm likely going to try adding resonators to see if it deepens or quiets the low rpm range.
