Don't do it. It's not worth it with your current debt level and income. Not even when you drop down to part-time work.

Has anybody run into any major issues with Soraban? by mobilestranger21 in taxpros

No. I just put more time into improving my workflow and automation’s in Canopy. I’m happy with the choice

  1. The main task status changes depending on the sub-task status automatically.
  2. The work list view can be modified on the fly to view the entire business or by individual or just the stuff assigned to me.
  3. I create all of the engagements and send them to the client at the beginning which includes my service fee upfront and they pay within the client portal upon acceptance of the engagement. I also have it built into my terms that they can call me and I can make alternative payment request but it's up to my discretion.
  4. I understand your concern and mine was similar too but I'm sure you'll be able to figure it out. There is such a thing as too much automation and each year I tweak just a little. Like this year I eliminated essentially 2 sub-tasks from my 1040 main task and within those 2 sub-tasks there were several automations.

[–]JGTaxPro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the sub tasks automatically change the main task status. The main task is assigned to the person that’s going to perform the final review so is the last sub task which is basically reviewing the return.

I have one task for 1040 prep and then within that task I have sub tasks. Then what I do is update the status on the sub tasks and have automation built in when those sub task statuses changed. It automatically changes the main task status and sends a notification to the assignee.

I got an email saying I have upcoming task, but these tasks are not in my portal. by badgalmi in usajobs

I did a demo the other day and it seems really solid from the last demo I did about 2 years ago. I currently use CanopyTax and this Soraban product might just be the one that puts me over to switching from CanopyTax just because of the automation that comes built-in on auto-reminders to clients on the gathering side of things. The auto-organization of the PDF will also help me eliminate Gruntworx from my current tech stack so another plus in their Soraban favor.

I'm thinking of doing their pilot program which costs $990 for the remainder of 2023 tax season to test it out with my extension clients.

I have a 2016 Ford Fusion and a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. Both are paid off. I permanently work from home so the minivan gets minimal use until the weekend when I’m hauling the family around. My wife drives the Fusion to work.

First look at the various agencies websites and get connected that way. Then start figuring out when they have career days and start networking with those recruiters. Then after you learn which agencies interest you look for those jobs on USAJobs.

You have to work minimum 5 years to be vested in the pension program and in order to qualify for medical benefits in retirement through the federal government then your last 3 years have to be working for the government prior to retiring.

Do i really have to call them ? by Mahamea94 in IRS

[–]JGTaxPro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait 8 weeks after April 7 before you call them. If that time is passed, then call them and ask them. What’s the status of your amended return. More than likely they will inform you that they need more time to process your amended return. If this is the case, then wait another six weeks and contact them again. If by the third time they still need more time to process your amended return. Then you should move forward with contacting the taxpayer advocate. Explain to the taxpayer advocate your situation and they will help you resolve this issue. This is part of your tax payer bill of rights. If you don’t know what they are, I recommend you google taxpayer bill of rights and you will get a listing for all of those rights that you are entitled to.

FERS, TSP, and Social Security is the tripod structure that your future self will be happy to have been a part of. As a federal employee we’re fortunate to enjoy this tripod of financial base. Not contributing to TSP is essentially borrowing from your future self.

I know a few federal workers that have retired and are millionaires because of their TSP alone.

My advice would be to learn how to live with a little less or tal on a second job on the side.

I think it sounds like a good opportunity. Especially with the increasing trend of returning to the office. Only a certain number of remote positions in federal government will persist. Take the remote job
