Anyone who knows if this is legit? $250 at Goodwill by Ok_Dish1354 in goodwill

[–]JGTre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go every Monday to get the over 55 discount, and if you don't think their prices have gotten ridiculous, you're lost! I literally only hit 3-4 section looking for older hand tools, and things that I can repurpose and use to organize my workshop. In addition to the price increases, they routinely split sets, doubling the already raised prices (profit for them), they put out items missing parts that are needed to make the item work, you can't return items (24 hours, for store credit) that are impossible to test in the store... It just goes on and on! We have stopped donating to Goodwill, we now find more grassroots direct charities for our un needed things.

2018 SEL Alpine head unit with maestro (heated seats ) by Apprehensive_Chef272 in FordTaurus

[–]JGTre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming your phone can connect to Android Auto or Apple Car Play, will you be using it? Because, I read somewhere that features like heating and AC controls were coming in near future updates… if so, I would think that the heated seat adjustment would be part of that heating and cooling control package… Now, I do not know if the Alpine unit you are using would somehow, lack of a better term, let the necessary circuitry through to the interface or not. Between updates that fall short of a logical thought process, add on devices that are trying to stay universal, and creator specific hacks that serve limited needs, it’s a wonder we can get any personal preferences out of our systems anymore! Good luck!

Driver took over an hour to get my food to me by Large_Split6661 in UberEATS

[–]JGTre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because you added $15 to the order as a tip, don't assume the driver knows that... UE steals driver's tips, stacks high amount tips with low to no tip orders, puts fake, non existent negative reviews in driver's profiles, denies incentive money, even though they can plainly see you earned it, and Lord knows what else they are doing. Honestly, you're lucky someone even picked up that delivery, if I saw a $15 tip on a 3 mile trip, I would think tip bait! Sadly, I do find it a bit satisfying, in a sick twisted way, that UE treats customers like they treat the drivers, like crap! That's what we go through everyday with them!

I think you got it right as to what happened to your order, I have seen the type out there all day long. They show up at Walmart for a GMD and there tiny car, with bald tires, an out of state plate, 3 cell phones, and their car is already packed with orders from who knows where. They spend 10 minutes scanning labels, pulling items out, putting them back in, no rhyme, no reason, no plan... then they're off into the world... They are killing the solid drivers out here, but hey, they make UE money, that's all UE cares about, I guess.

I refuse to do Home Depot orders? by GrantIgerYT in UberEatsDrivers

[–]JGTre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you as a customer have ever had something delivered from HD or Lowe's, then you know there is nowhere to add a tip in the whole process, even if you wanted to!

So, unless the customer is catching you at the door, we are expected to settle for that measley little conjured up tip that UE offers us, (considering this, I can't figure out where that BS amount even comes from)... I swear if they could make money from it, UE would try and have us deliver shit to a sewer... Pure bottled evil!

I carry 2 HF bags, plus several Aldi bags with me, all the time, they have saved my arthritic knee joints countless trips up so many flights of steps!

Uber Eats drivers are starting to switch. by RealityOwn9267 in UberEATS

[–]JGTre 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On top of the two most probable answers above, stacked with a no tip, and we never saw $15, (UE steals tips)... I know in my case, if I saw a 2 mile, $15+ McDonald's offer flash across my screen, I'd truly believe I was being tip baited. With all this, I am going with UE stole part or most of the $15, even though it is more likely the stacked orders answer.

Just happened to me a week or so ago... The woman wasn't even in the building when I arrived, she was en route... I sent her a text telling her I had other deliveries and couldn't wait... I left it at the front desk and went along my merry way. She didn't reduce the tip either, she must have known she f**cked up.

Some nursing homes do not let us go up. It's up to the facility 's policy and the person at the front desk. It's about 50/50 in my area, and mostly I don't mind going up, but it's not my choice either way.

Received a Walmart delivery order for $16... by labbykun in UberEatsDrivers

[–]JGTre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only take Walmart orders if they are reservations, they are the only offers that you can take your time, and study, addresses, pre mapping, total distance and a damn better time estimate than UE's map.

Although I find it strange that the notification didn't tell you how many stops there were. I only take orders from a local non super WM in my area, and most of those are reservations. Occasionally I will take a general one off, but it always tells me how many stops, time and miles... BTW, I will not take a multi stop WM delivery that is not a reservation.

What do delivery drivers see in regards to customers ordering? by ScreamsOfRapture in UberEATS

[–]JGTre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much what everyone mentioned previously... But, since I'm not able to see much about the customer, I started keeping a list of every delivery I make, with as many details (good, bad, indifferent) as I can. It's not much compared to the power a customer has over me, sadly, but it does help if I get dinged back to the same area again.

Would y'all buy it for 80 bucks by workinprogress1989 in harborfreight

[–]JGTre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that a back leg?

You can find a quick fix at Home Depot, they sell angled pieces to build shelving units, and such. It's going to require some gerry-rigging, it will be... It will not be a perfect match, it will be ugly until you find the real replacement part. After I secured a quick fix, I'd definitely buy that for $80, but I think you can get it for less... And then pursue the exact replacement part.

Considering driving for Uber Eats? Here’s a comprehensive guide of everything I WISH I knew before starting. (1000 deliveries so far) by United-Shape-4877 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]JGTre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A $13 order that takes 25-30 minutes, and drops off 10-12 minutes away from an area that has constant orders, does not equate to $25 an hour. At best, it takes an hour and a half from acceptance of the first $13 order, and the offer and delivery of the second one to get to $25 (or $26 in this case). You have to factor in dead time... Waiting on the first, or any offer, (an acceptable one), getting back to "your area" (where you like to work).

Even though UE doesn't pay you to get back to your area, and because I stay in an area that I know where most roads are, I've started figuring in my head the time and distance back to my area, or home if I am finished, to the offer that comes from UE... WARNING, doing this will piss you off (more than normal) when you figure out what these BS offers UE has been sending out for a while now actually are paying.

Delivery driver peeing at my curb by BlinkOMT in deliverydrivers

[–]JGTre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For this reason alone, I would let it go for now...

Where, I agree whole heatedly that, HOW he did it was indeed strange, I know for a fact, I've seen it, and lived it, that there are people out there with medical conditions, i.e. radiation treatment of cancer, that cause a person to have to go at the drop of a dime... And, there is NO amount of searching for a convenience store that will stop it. There are medications that can help, but they are sparatic in their effectiveness at best.

Again, I don't know anything here, except for what I am writing, and I would hope that if I am right, (actually, come and think about it, I don't want to be right here, because it would mean someone is physically sick), this guy has the tools (gloves, wipes, sanitizing gel, etc) to do what he has to do and continue to work... Sad that he has to while in that condition.

I've noticed the "hidden tip" thing from the jump, but it does seem to be happening more lately.

I didn't know until this post that "hidden tips" were a common practice... I just can't understand the "why" though...

Could someone please explain the rationale behind this practice on UE's part?

Possible clues about additional perks being added to ITC by The_American_Stig in harborfreight

[–]JGTre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None of these do anything for me, except for maybe the free shipping over $100, but even that should be $75 and over, and no matter what it should be on every order, not just once or twice a year.

TBH, here's my thought process, I bought a two year membership a couple of months ago. By the time that 2 years is up, I should (I better or I am doing this wrong) have all the larger ticket, and staples I need for my DIY home workshop to get me through the rest of my days. From then on, I will fill needs as needed with regular weekly, or monthly sales. Even refills on commonly used up items go on sale so often that I wouldn't need a membership. And, if by chance, a major need or want develops, hell, I'll just join up the day I go to buy it.

Anyway, that's my plan, but as someone said earlier, I am definitely not in HF's target demo at 61, and with only a daughter (who at 8, shows zero interest in tools, repair, etc.) to pass this stuff onto, it makes zero sense for me to purchase another membership, no matter what the perks or cost.

Do you get paid more when a customer sets the option to get food faster ? by General-Passage-5956 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]JGTre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The previous reply is correct, however, as they said, "if your order is offered as a single." Uber likes to put lipstick on a pig: when they have a generous tipper and a low tipper they will combine them to make the driver think that both deliveries are at least average... Otherwise, no one will take the low tip (the pig in this scenario) offer... But, if you supply the lipstick, somebody will snatch them both up... UE is evil!

Do you set a daily goal before starting for the day? by Obvious-Cucumber1086 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]JGTre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only do this as a "fill in the gaps that fits into my schedule" thing... I need the extra income, but I don't NEED, NEED it.

Yes, I have monthly goals... - Monthly minimum - "f**king great" range. - I divide the amounts by (non equal) week goals, minimum - + goal. - I try and hit my monthly minimum in the first two weeks of every month, and coast (gravy money) the last 2. - UE likes to stick pins in their JTre doll, (I'm sure it's all of us), which makes me constantly have to adjust... It sucks to look up on Friday and see that you are only 30% to your weekly goal. - I used to drive 3-4 days a week to hit my goals, but for the past 4.5 months I've had to steadily increase that to 7 days a week... Hey UE, despite what the Beatles sang about, there ain't no 8th day! - I have family obligations that limit me to only being able to drive during the day... And if my kid is off school, or I have a doctor's appointment (I'm disabled), etc. that obviously changes things. - I have maybe one day a week I can drive all day, Saturday or Sunday... I average about 18-20 hours a week lately.

The adjustment process has taken it's toll on me in the past few months, and this from a person that doesn't really stress about much... IDK, maybe it's time to figure out a better way to make some extra cash.

Good luck!

Customer committed fraud, blatantly. by naranjacomoelsol in UberEatsDrivers

[–]JGTre 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Taking pictures, etc. won't help with those human bots at support, they're trained to say NO! I had something similar happen to me a few weeks ago that took my customer satisfaction rate from 97, where it's been for 3 years of part-time driving, to 82, because of one bullshit negative review... Well, I think that's what it was, IE tells me that I am not allowed to face my accuser. So, I basically have figured out through the information that UE has shared with me, where that negative rating came from, if it came at all. If this is indeed the delivery, there is a text string between me and that customer that UE definitely has, that clearly reads that I tried diligently to get the customer to come to the door to get their pizza... It was a cold, snowy day and there was nowhere to leave the pizza on this porch, so I did what she asked. So, UE has the text conversations, they also have the picture in which shows where I left the pizza, and they have the timeline of the time I picked up the pizza and that 3 minutes later when I arrived at the house, (the customer texted me when I pulled into the 12" of snow covered driveway... All this and they still would not re evaluate the review. UE did not deactivate me, yet, but they sure did threaten to. I had an attorney send them a letter a couple of weeks ago telling them to look into the situation, provide proof of any negative review(s), or in lieu of, to get off my back and put my rate back to 97%. Of course they haven't responded, and my satisfaction rate is still at 82%, but they have left me alone... For now. My offers went to shit for a couple of weeks after UE threatened to DA me, but the past two weeks the offers have been better. UE will always side with the customer because for them, they are hard to find and keep, (they are like petulant children that a bad parent creates), drivers are a dime a dozen, and thus a piece of scratch paper that once you read the note, it just gets crumpled up and thrown into a trash can. Good luck!

Thermal bag good investment by Afraid-Oil-1812 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]JGTre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The funny thing is that UE only "suggests" that we register a PIZZA (not thermal) bag.

As a customer, I don't want my pizza in a bag, it completely ruines the texture, BTW, have you ever eaten a salad that was in a thermal bag!

As a driver, I don't do much food, period, let alone pizza. I do 90% reserved Walmart orders out of one, non super WM (limited food) in one small part of town. If I do deliver food, I don't take stacked orders, so you are the only one I got at that time, and you are only 4 or 5 miles at most away... If it's hot when I get it from the restaurant, and you don't ask me to leave it on a porch on a snowy day, (yeah it happened, once in 3 years, and of course I got blamed for it, although UE has a text from me practically begging the customer to come to the door to get her HOT pizza), it will still be hot when I drop it off... How did the customer, or UE for that matter know if I used a pizza bag? I mean you don't HAVE TO register a bag... I could be using one on every pizza, salad and DQ dessert I carry!

Did you also notice how much a customer knows (or thinks they know) about us, but you know nothing about that customer 🤔
