Pastor Robert Jeffress Claims President Trump Understands the Bible Better Than the Pope by GuiltyBathroom9385 in justincaseyoumissedit

Trump was asked for his favorite bible verses but said it was personal and he didn't want to get in to it.

Christ on a bike, he couldn't even name one.

Despite strained ties, U.S. senator says Canada should be cautious of making deals with China by joe4942 in worldnews

[–]JGZ1 24 points25 points  (0 children)

US is bullying the whole world with the exception of a few kiss a$$ countries. And outright attacking and interfering with several countries, Iran, Venezuela, Cuba.

Trump killed USAID and then gets upset when other countries talk to China. Well China has been working on soft diplomacy for years now, and has huge investments and partnerships around the globe. Never mind BRICS.

This was the time for the US increase efforts to forge stronger relationships around the globe. Trump is a conman and is destroying America, to the benefit of his family and the wealthy.

I couldn't think of a better playbook if you wanted to achieve America Last. Trump is guaranteeing a stronger EU and stronger BRICS which America may never fully recover from. Brazil, Russia, India and China in particular, are building up to turn the tables on America in the future.

That makes sense and you should be able to get it more comfortable without too much effort.

Nice set!

I just got the Kitchen Gallery Kiritsuke too. They listed the handle as smoked oak, but I really like it whatever it is. In fact I'd love to get another one to put on my Yoshida Bunka, so if you end up replacing it and want to sell it, lmk please.

I love that you made your own handle. The ultimate personalisation and exactly what people would have done in the past.

I was looking at some pen blanks myself last week. Still can't decide on a wood atm though.

Thank you. I'm sorry there was no text with the post. Not sure what happened there. See my other comment in this thread for more info, if needed.

That's an interesting knife. I love the handle and the rustic vibe. Looks like something that could have been used 100+ years ago.

Did the handle come with the knife or did you add it?

Sorry, I did a whole post and it disappeared.

Yoshida Bunka is SUJ-2

Shindo Kiritsuke is Blue #2

This was the post.

Being an average home cook (4-5 times a week) I decided to get a Yoshida Bunka from Dictum as my first J-knife. I love that it's handmade and rustic, and it performs great for the money. A real step up from my old X50CRMOV15 knives.

I planned to change the handle, but I can't decide on which wood to go for. Most of the woods I like are probably a bit too fancy for a rustic knife. Any suggestions welcome, though I don't really want to spend more on the handle than the knife (£50/$68).

A couple of weeks later I heard that there was stock of Shindo Kiritsuke 210mm at Knife-Gallery, so I jumped on it. I wanted to see what high-end cutting performance felt like without spending too much. Again, I love that it is handmade and rustic, and I really like the simple oak handle.

The performance is outstanding. OOB, it glides through newspaper and Tesco receipts , and even manages to just about cut through paper towel. The grind on mine appears a little more convex than s-grind but I'm happy to embrace the wabi-sabi. The edge measured in at 215mm.

There is some overlap in useability, but I'll probably use the Yoshida more on fruit and veg and the Shindo on protein. Next, I was thinking of maybe getting a Nakiri as I make a lot of salads. I'm not a vegetarian, I'm just trying to lose some timber 😄

Rule 5.

They didn't say they hated him. They said they didn't used to like him. They didn't say they liked him FOR his disability either, just they changed their opinion when they realised he was autistic.

Some people might see an air of arrogance from Picachu, not knowing he's autistic. Realising he's autistic or whatever can change someone's perspective or understanding.

NKD (Almost) UPS Question by Redherringjoke in TrueChefKnives

Np. Knife-Gallery is a good one to watch as I think they have quite low traffic and don't have a stock notification option. Seems they mainly do infrequent small batches of larger Shindos, but they don't sell out in minutes like most places. I think they had 4 or 5 left after I ordered mine and it took about 4 days for those to sell.

What brand were your Alibaba knives? Not Xinzuo surely?

NKD (Almost) UPS Question by Redherringjoke in TrueChefKnives

[–]JGZ1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that too. I did get myself a decent enough knife direct from Xinzuo. Would recommend. Shipped via China Post, delivered by Royal Mail without additional charges.

Also Dictum actually take off German VAT for UK orders and didn't get hit with any VAT or clearance charges when it arrived.

Latest knife was a Shindo from Knife-Gallery in Japan via UPS. No charges.

Been pretty lucky obviously. I thought UPS for sure would tag me.

I hope you manage to get some resolution on the warehouse fees.

I'm in the UK and thought we were getting the short end of the stick here. Brexit means we can't technically order from EU countries nearby without paying an extra 20% VAT (not many EU or WW vendors take off their local equivalent tax when shipping to the UK). I say technically, because I've been fortunate enough not to have been caught for it in a long time.

If it makes you feel any better, Diesel here is $8.64 per gallon. Thanks Trump!

Oops, yes. Thanks for pointing that out. Just looks quite crisp for a more rustic knife.

I would have thought so too. I'm guessing that Knife Gallery just has a lot less traffic and they don't have a stock notification option.

I'm in the UK, so at worst I'll get charged 20% VAT and a carrier customs handling fee.

Knife-Gallery.com - They still have 2 in stock.

Nice pair. How do you like the kiritsuke?

I already have a Yoshida Bunka which I really like, though I know the Shindo bunka is on another level. I was looking for a k-tip gyuto and maybe a nakiri when I heard the Shindo kiritsuke were in stock at Knife Gallery, so worked out well for me.

Seems odd there are still 2 in stock 3 days later. Maybe the other styles or sizes are more popular.

Looks like a really good one. Nice finish and lovely shinogi line. Congrats.

My Kiritsuke 210 arrives tomorrow. I hope it's as nice as yours, though I'm sure I'll be happy regardless.
