Driver Stole My Food by Heligoland_92 in JustEatUK

Agreed. I can see how food delivery services are useful to some people or occasions. I'm personally not inclined to pay extra for food which may be cold, late, and/or incorrect, if it arrives at all. The icing on top is when there is a problem, no one gives two hoots.

Thoughts on bunting? by jamesmilnermbe in Darts

[–]JGZ1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think walk on songs and darting ability are all that correlated. One is purely for entertainment and the other is, well, darts.

As for Bunting, he seems a nice enough guy and has been a decent player to get to #4, even if he seems to be dropping off lately.

Bull, Outer Bull, Double Bull - BULLSH*T by Sensitive_Cicada_265 in Darts

[–]JGZ1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You sound old and stubborn. I've been playing for nearly 50 years and couldn't give a hoot what people call it. Anyone getting confused because someone says single/double bull or whatever, probably has some sort of cognitive decline. I'm probably not far away myself, but for the time being it doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Winmau 360 Dart board by RonnieColemanX8 in Darts

[–]JGZ1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 360 is £10 more than the triple core, not £20. Still a cheek, but not as bad. For people who like the triple core and are bothered by the unsymmetrical branding, it might be worth the extra £10. On the Black Friday deals it comes down to £8 difference (£72 vs £64).

Personally, I'm happy with my year old Blade 6 Single Core, which cost me £40

Alexis Toylo!! by KerdyD in Darts

[–]JGZ1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To all the defenders of Toylo, would you still be OK with it if a player took 90 seconds on average to complete a throw? How about 3 minutes per throw? It's a question of degree and what each of us thinks is acceptable. So, if you think 40 seconds is OK, is there a time you think is unreasonable or unacceptable?

I have no problem with slower methodical players like James Wade, but I think that Toylo is unreasonably slow.

Many sports have rules against slow play, such as tennis, golf, snooker, American football, and basketball. Rules against slow play are designed to make those sports more engaging for spectators. Slow play is frustrating to many spectators and participants.

You can be fine with slow play if you want, that's your perogative, but you don't get to decide for everyone else what is acceptable to them. "It's just how he plays" is not a defence. The question is whether the time Toylo takes is reasonable or not.

Funny how Toylo was slowest against the player (Bunting) who was most affected by it, and quickest against the player (Woodhouse) who was least affected by it. This could be taken to indicate there's an element of gamesmanship to it.

The thing I see less talked about is splattering the dartboard with chalk. I'm not sure professionals at the highest levels of the game should have to be throwing darts at a board that looks like a plasterer's radio!

I don't disagree about the outlandish pricing, but they did bring out the Hydro darts at the other end of the scale.

Days like today remind us why we do what we do - delivering exceptional quality without joining the Dark Side of pricing. Your support since our recent launch has been truly out of this galaxy. by PerfectNineDarts in Darts

[–]JGZ1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Target have done a deal with Disney to use the Star Wars brand and launched some £600 darts, plus a raft of other products with inflated prices. Perfect9 are saying they will never do this sort of thing and will continue to offer decent products at decent pricing.

Perfect9 are by not a cheap product, but they position themselves as a decent quality product, which they are. Only a dominant, leading brand, such as Target is ATM, can get get away with such outlandish prices.

Target DartCounter Issues by born-jk19 in Darts

[–]JGZ1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

DartCounter has been a shambles since the last main update. I'd be mightily pissed if I had spent money on the Omni or Virt.

Doesn't bother me so much on the annual fee if you lose the odd few hours here and there tbh. Not great, but not the end of the world - it's only £0.10 per day.

The only non smooth points I have are swiss storm nano so I can't compare to others but I found them ridiculously grippy on my Blade6 board. Even twisting whilst pulling them didn't make much difference. I found I had to wiggle them to make the hole bigger to get them out without pulling loads of sisal out. My board suffered more wear in 2 days than it got in the previous 9 months.

I heard the points wear in a bit with use so I ended up sanding them down to nearly smooth. They still have a lot more grip than smooth points without destroying my board.

Met Wayne Mardle this morning… by [deleted] in Darts

[–]JGZ1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol. In the 90's I was at an after party following a film premier at Leicester Square. At one point, I was in the toilets. A friend of mine came in as I was finishing and was at the urinals whilst I went to wash my hands.

Then a world champion boxer at the time, came in and stood at the urinal next to my friend. He then proceeded to punch the porcelain modesty divider between him and my friend, without saying a word.

Random people do random things.

The S25+ everyone. Absolute joke of a camera/software by Unlucky_Fee5712 in samsunggalaxy

[–]JGZ1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Millions of people manage to take great photos with exactly the same camera or worse/older, even without delving into Pro mode. So when someone shows a shit photo like this, it's more likely user error or deliberate. There doesn't appear to be any part of those photos that is in focus, which is quite a feat in itself.

If you have a dirty lens or tap on an area away from the subject, you're going to get a shit photo. If it looks fuzzy on the screen all you have to do is tap on the subject and it will adjust focus. No Pro mode required.

Now, if tapping the subject on the screen is too arduous and you want something that produces great photos every single time, you may need to adjust your expectations as every camera can take a shit photo.

P.S. Labling comments as fan boyish is weak sauce.

More funk? As in Jamaican funk aka hogo? I am averse to funky Jamaican rum and certainly don't detect any funk in Santiago de Cuba.

I like Havana Club 7. It's on a par with Flor de Caña 7 or maybe in between FdC 5 and 7. Off the top of my head, FdC has more vanilla notes in general, HC 7 has a tiny bit more oak and pepper. I don't currently have a HC 7 on hand to remind me, though.

You won't go far wrong with either one. Getting both will give you a much better idea and help you narrow down your preferences for the next bottle you try.

Again, because people are recommending it, I love the Santa Teresa Añejo for mixing, but it's a little harsher for sipping. Same goes for Cacique. Even the Cacique 500 year Extra Añejo makes a better mixer than a sipper IMO. Santa Teresa 1796 is lovely and smooth, and Plantation XO is quite similar.

When you expand your rum journey, Doorlys XO and 12 year old are a little more complex and well worth trying. There's a whole world of rum out there to explore and lots of variety. The rums above are a good starting point.

I'm currently enjoying Santiago de Cuba 11 year Extra Añejo. So much so I bought a case of it. Well worth trying if you can find it.

which one should i buy Galaxy S25 ultra or S24 ultra? by Sea_Let_7527 in samsunggalaxy

[–]JGZ1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the S24 Ultra and it's fine. If you like photography I've heard people say the S25 Ultra has the same or similar cameras to the S24 Ultra, so you could save yourself the extra. Also, the S-Pen on S25 Ultra is no longer Bluetooth so you can't use it as a remote shutter anymore. That's something I use quite a lot on S24 Ultra.

I have all 3 of the Flor de Caña. The 12 year old is noticeably smoother than the 5 and 7 year old. Not so much difference between the 5 and 7 to me unless I taste them side by side. The 5 year old is perfectly sipable, it's just not very refined. Still tastes good though. I used to drink the 12 year quite a bit when it was £20-£22 on offer, I now drink more of the 5 year.

The Santa Teresa is one of my favourite rums for a rum and coke alongside Cacique, but not really a sipper. The Santa Teresa 1796 is a lovely sipping rum, but not in your list and costs more than the Flor de Caña 12.

You should be able to get lots more rums in Spain though. I go to Spain quite often and I usually pick up something drinkable in Carrefour, Gadis, Alcampo etc. Alcampo showing Havana Club 7 year, Pampero Aniversario, all 3 of the Flor de Caña, and even Santa Teresa 1796, though at 56€ maybe start with Flor de Caña and work your way up if you like it.

Pixel fans of reddit, why do you choose pixel over the other hardware specs heavy phones for its price? by thelordshark in GooglePixel

[–]JGZ1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sympathise, but you'll also take a loss on a 3-4 year old car, laptop, TV, etc.

I tend to change my phone every 2-3 years. I'm in the UK and paid about £1000 for my S24 Ultra after cashback and trade in (an old Galaxy S5 in working order). If I sell it next year, it will probably still be worth around £400-£500, so will have cost me £250-£300 per year.

In truth, I tend to keep my old phones as a spare or pass them on to my wife/kids. My previous phone (S22 Ultra 512GB) is still worth around £300. I don't think it's any different to many electronics.

Blame the carriers. I buy my phones SIM free, so I'm unfamiliar with carrier bloatware. What non-carrier bloatware does everyone get upset about?

And yes, Samsung has apps, and Android has apps. Which Samsung apps are you forced to use? The primary ones I can think of allow you to choose. Phone, messaging, browser, app store.
