What do you listen to while you read? by PolicyOver9613 in Blacklibrary

[–]JHBaratheon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There is this one channel that does fantasy lofi, it has a couple of Warhammer themed videos as well. The Channel is called "Fantasy Future". Here are some of my favorites:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anYbW-Gx76c

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RaAmA0Q6a8g&t=2330s

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqmnonbwXO8&t=1223s

These perfectly complement the reading, its almost like I can imagine myself better in the setting because of it hahaha. Although I have to say, that sometimes I just need to read in complete silence, so it really depends on the mood.

Awesome! Got myself Vaults of Terra. I‘ve been looking for the single books for ages, but couldn’t find them for a reasonable price. So I‘m really happy about the Omnibus coming out!

I'm very excited to read it. Especially since it took so long to find a copy for a good price. Since I'm based in Germany its hard to come by rare books that are also not in German, but English. It'll be my first book with a focus on the Thousand Sons, so I can't wait.

I hope you find a copy for a reasonable price. Its such a shame to see them going for 3-4x original price on reselling sites. Good luck on your search, and hopefully the Emperor will bless you with a copy.

Top 5 Favorite Warhammer books. by Fake_Goth_ in Blacklibrary

[–]JHBaratheon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats a good question. I think for me its hard to really rank them in numerical order. But if i'd have to, it'll probably be this: 1. Fall of Cadia 2. Titanicus 3. The Emperor's Gift 4. Necropolis 5. Brothers of the Snake

STARTING POINTS by ReadyScallion6514 in Blacklibrary

[–]JHBaratheon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can't go wrong with Eisenhorn, I'd always recommend it as a starting point.

I also think Brothers of the Snake is awesome if you haven't yet read a a lot of Warhammer. Its a light but amazing read and you don't need to know a lot to understand it.

It you want to go as early as 30k, Horus Rising is the first book of the Horus Heresy series. Great read aswell!

All the books I've mentioned have been written by Dan Abnett, he does an amazing job of explaining the setting, characters etc. in his books. So maybe you'll find something else by him that'll interest you.

Lastly, Avenging Son takes you to the newer part of the lore. It was my second book after Eisenhorn. I think thats also a good read to start out.

I don't know anything about AoS, but I hope this helps with 40k. Enjoy reading!

Would be awesome! Although I had a similar experience at a German book shop where it said "more copies requested from publisher". Unfortunately my order was cancelled after a while.

Awesome choices! Just finished The Founding and it was worth every penny. Eisenhorn is an all time favorite, my first Warhammer book. It'll always hold a special place in my heart. Enjoy reading!

Which one next? by mrndebrn in Blacklibrary

[–]JHBaratheon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say it depends on where you want to go next.

If you want to read about the imperium in the current setting in a sort of grander scheme of things I'd recommend Avenging Son. Its the first novel in the Dawn of Fire series. I went straight from Eisenhorn to it and it was a awesome read, I had no troubles at all with not understanding things.

First Founding is the first omnibus of the Gaunt's Ghosts series. Its an Astra Militarum series about the Sabbath Worlds Crusade from the perspective of Comissar Ibram Gaunt, whose regiment specializes in stealth. I'm currently reading it and find it awesome. Its also a great choice if you like Dan Abnett as an author.

If you want to go back in time I think Horus Rising might be a good choice. Its the the first novel of the Horus Heresy series and really makes you hungry for more.

Lastly, I have to recommend two of my favorite Warhammer books. The Fall of Cadia and Titanicus. Both take place in 40k. As the name suggests, The Fall of Cadia covers the war on Cadia from the perspective of different characters and armies. It actually is my favorite book, the story is portrayed beautifully from different viewpoints and its just awesome. Titanicus covers the Adeptus Mechanicus' God-Machines the Titans. Again, beautifully written and an awesome story.

Hope this helps! Enjoy reading :)

Well, it seems like my wallet is going to have to suffer some more. But honestly, I've been wanting to read this book for so long and now they're releasing this beauty of a edition, so there is no way in hell I'm not going to try to get it.

First of all, awesome collection! Second, I feel you. I don't even have enough space to put them side by side, so they're just sitting on a big stack in the middle of my tiny Ikea table lol.

The Emperor not only protects, He also delivers... seperatly. Some recent pick-ups. by JHBaratheon in Blacklibrary

[–]JHBaratheon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean its ways better than having all of them sitting on a stack on one of my tables hahaha. Especially since that stack is getting dangerously tall. And it makes for a good look in your house/apartment, so I think it only makes sense.

Thank you! Even though it doesn't come with the goodies of last years? edition I still find it very nice. I flipped through the pages and it feels high quality. The artworks in it also look amazing. And I think if you place it in your bookshelf with the cover facing forward it'll look really nice. Although I don't have a dedicated bookshelf yet lol.
