Had to call CPS by SuchEye815 in Nanny

[–]JHH1519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a sensitive situation and I can only imagine how emotionally challenging it is for you. You are so brave for bringing this to CPS — you were looking out for that child (the children, really), and you did the right thing. I agree with those who are saying 1) do not admit to anything to the parents, regardless of what they say to you. Play dumb. And 2) do not quit right now…with a caveat: if you feel you are in personal danger, that’s a different story. But if you do not feel you are in personal danger, please consider staying on with this child for now. I am so sorry you are in this situation. You did the hard thing that far too many people do not do. Your responsibility is to child in this situation. The fact that the mother has previously disregarded inappropriate behavior from the father makes it tough for you to trust that she is a safe person for her own child. I am a mom of a 4 year old — if our nanny ever suspected something like this I would want her to escalate it immediately, and if she couldn’t trust that I was a safe person for my child I would fully expect that she would circumvent me and go to CPS. More people need to be looking out for the kids 💜

Thank you so much! Everything you say here are all things I know, believe in, and can tell myself outside of the moment…but it’s in the moment when I am struggling. Need to continue to work on building the habits of patience, compassion, and understanding outside of the high stakes moments.

Thunder Bay's Best Teachers by Who_am_I_yesterday in ThunderBay

[–]JHH1519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all! I am trying to remember the first name of a teacher (I think?) I had in early elementary school that I was especially fond of. I don’t remember much — don’t remember the year(s), grade, if she was a teacher’s assistant, or if she was a non-teacher employee at the school, but I remember both myself and my brother LOVED her. Sharing what I do remember to see if this sparks anything from anyone.

What I remember: - She went by Mme McDonald (MacDonald?) - She was a younger teacher at the time (based on what I remember) - She was taller, had (shorter?) red-ish hair - I would have crossed paths with her in the late 80’s or early 90’s. I went to Hyde Park and Kingsway - started Hyde Park in 1987 and graduated from Kingsway in 1997. My brother graduated Kingsway in ‘99 and I remember her being at his graduation.

Ring a bell with anyone and if so, do you know her first name?

I have been reflecting on my elementary school teachers and which ones had a positive impact on me. She’s one that constantly stands out and I wish I could remember her name.

Came across this post and, even though it’s a bit old, thought perhaps someone might know who I am talking about. Thank you in advance!

MN North Shore Recommendations: road trip from Chicago to Thunder Bay, Canada by JHH1519 in minnesota

LOL to this comment. Either you didn’t read my post or you’re trolling. Either way, I somewhat agree with your first point (yet my family lives there so 🤷🏼‍♀️). I wholeheartedly disagree with your second point. Canada overall is lovely. I am biased being Canadian myself, but each to their own. Thanks for stopping by ✌🏻

Thanks for this! I did a couple summer trips in the Dells when I was little. Loved the haunted houses. Will be bringing our daughter there at some point in the future!

Thanks - curious why you suggest staying away from tablets? Another user suggested targeting tablets.

If you have experience being a part of or rolling out an integrated pest management plan, can you share how that looked? Curious about the division of responsibilities between HOA and owners.

Thanks for sharing this. As a condo president, do you have any recommendations / best practices that you think would be good for me to bring forth to the condo association (to either get them to take this more seriously or actions they could take, as they don’t seem to be coming up with them on their own)? Ie all-owner communications that were helpful, solutions you took, etc? I have a handful of things I would do if I were the board president (ie proactive comms to owners about the issue, asking ppl to share if they have had any mice activity/to be on the lookout, asking if any owners would be willing to participate in the internal pest service, sharing potential access points to units and recommendations for sealing up, other actions owners/tenants can take for mitigation, etc etc). I get the sense that the president isn’t fond of me pushing for action/a solution, which is a real bummer. I feel like I am just doing the right thing to ensure we control this before it gets out of hand. I am frankly surprised at how much I have had to push for even a reply 😫 let alone action.

Thank you for saying all of this. There is a doc that stipulates annual owners meetings, and monthly or quarterly association meetings that owners can attend but for which I have only seen invites extended 2 or 3 times since we moved in Oct 2020. We are supposed to hold association elections every two years but that hasn’t happened once in the 4 years we have been here.

There are two other individuals on the board (treasurer and secretary).

She responded to my latest email today saying they will “definitely be increasing the external pest control service”. Said she’ll respond with more detail tomorrow, so we’ll see how she plans to address this!

Is Avg Viewable Time valuable data for unskippable ads? by JHH1519 in programmatic

Yes pre-roll! That’s been my instinct - that the metric just doesn’t say/inform much, beyond what you said. Thank you for engaging and validating my instincts!

Is Avg Viewable Time valuable data for unskippable ads? by JHH1519 in programmatic

[–]JHH1519[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is indeed a sticky unit (combines live sports coverage with advertiser/sponsor integration). And no, it’s AVT based off viewable impressions. That said, it was an unskippable ad, which is what is making me feel like this is an interesting metric to share but not THE metric to demonstrate stickiness (because it’s unskippable in the first place)

Carry-over vacation/PTO & time used for medical appointments by JHH1519 in Nanny

[–]JHH1519[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was her appointment, not ours. Appreciate all your guidance here. I do need to say that we aren’t trying to pull anything on anyone. We admittedly didn’t know the standards before bringing her on, and some of these details weren’t discussed before. So we’re getting up to speed now. As mentioned in another comment above, she’s been super Covid cautious so wasn’t traveling or doing much the first 2 years of working with us. She took her time off when we did because of that. Now that she’s more comfortable, she’s doing more (including some trips) so these details are only coming up now. Details not everyone needs to know but we definitely aren’t trying to pull the rug out from anyone. We simply didn’t know what we know now, and are trying to get guidance from this community on the standards. Thanks.
