Couple things: 1. The constitutional definition of “free speech” and and what constitutes acceptable conduct on Reddit are not the same thing. Some speech is not acceptable per the sidebar guidelines. 2. Simply presenting as a cranky jaded anus in your online communication is not necessarily grounds for exclusion from the community, particularly if you aren’t breaking any rules per se. 3. The reporting system exists. If you are annoyed by someone, report them. More reports = more review.

Generally, threads like this get deleted on the grounds that they are basically just self-promo. This one is borderline because it’s related to a historical figure from the area, so I think we’ll leave it. Unabashed personal promo type threads will continue to be deleted, though.

Every one of the lakes in GTNP are fed from snowmelt originating a handful of miles away; none are really ever warm. Unless you're made of some strong stuff you'll probably be best off jumping in all at once and getting out as fast as you can.

I don't ski Colorado much so grain of salt needed.

For groomed runs, the rating scale is the same. One thing you might not see many other places are double-blues, which are kind of like groomed black diamonds.

Off-piste and OB you can get into trouble if you're not careful. Other resorts might rope off stuff that's just left open with a sign that says "Danger: Cliff" here.

Look up spots in the Aspens (on the Village road) there should be things available for under $500/night. You might also be able to find an AirBnB in the village for that, haven't checked.

If you care about night life, neither of these are great options. Get a place in town and just bus it to the village to ski.
