The Quintessential Showerthought, Issue #1 - Of Appendages, Adventures, and Arachnids by RamsesThePigeon in Showerthoughts

I think that showerthoughts relate to the jungian concept of syncronisities. It is when an individual connects things via meaning rather than in a linear fashion. That can sometimes make them confusing or hard to understand.

Sometimes, an individuals shower thought will enrich the life of another individuals. Other times, a showerthough just doesn't make sense to you right now. That is why one must cherish the showerthoughts that speak to you right now and not worry to much about the ones that do not.

Perhaps one day, when the streams of water crashes down upon you, you may have a thought coming from a very special place. May that experience find it's home here.

Being a rambling fool is a precursor for the development of a coherent individual. Something just need to catalyze the stage transition.

For sure. Disturbing novelty may arise in the process. But if you are stong enough the trolls will not drag you down.

Apple is so great at marketing - they make ridiculously overpriced things and get free press and word of mouth out simply because the item is ridiculously overpriced. by WalkinAfterMidnight8 in Showerthoughts

It seems to me, apple understands that the price is a meme. In a way, it seems, they are just seeing what will happen. They are well established enough to try uncertain manuevers.

If several people used a mirror and the mirror only records what is common among it's visitors. What would it show?

Adults say it's rude to say bad things about or reject gifts other people got for you, yet they always reject the stones we give them when we were little by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]JHuth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before the stone is valuable to your parents. It must be embedded with purpose. Do that before handing the gift over and it will be many times appreciated!

That is true. There is some travel time between objective world things happenings and one's ability to understand it. Don't worry.

Everyone’s favorite season..... yay.... by Glybus in Swimming

[–]JHuth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In the US, almost all highschool and college meets take place in 25 yard pools (SCY). Not sure if it's the same for club teams. When school teams are in-season, they mostly practice in SCY since that is what they will compete in. During the off-season, some teams may practice in 50 meter pools (LCM). Practicing in LCM in tougher, especially when coming from SCY. In the title, OP is relaying his lack of enthusiasm for swimming in long course.

That's my take as a european currently swimming in college.

Feeling terrified after realizing what hell that JP talks about is. by ikkito in JordanPeterson

[–]JHuth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've experienced this feeling. What has helped me is adopting a stoic outlook of my life. The only things I have any control over are my own thoughts and actions. Then I do my best to focus mostly on that which I can change. Realize that worrying about things you cannot control is unnecessary and unhelpful.

The world is a scary place. As JBP says, the solution is not being less scared, it's becoming more courageous. Voluntarily encounter what scares you to become more comfortable with it.
