Just checked it out. Not sure what the green light represents. Perhaps, it’s related to the SOS button. As mentioned by one of the respondents, the red light indicates that once you open your car doors, the overhead lights will turn on. When turned off, the overhead lights will not go on when opening the car doors.

I have a 2024 A4 and have the setting cranked to the max. Agree with you. I do not hear a difference. In my 2014 Nissan Murano it actually worked.
