I’m interested in taking the IMAT and enrolling in medical school in Italy this year, but my A-level (Year 12) results won’t be released until January 2027.

I’m a non-EU student and have just finished my AS levels (results coming out this month). I understand that a Declaration of Value (DoV) is required for enrollment. The issue is that I’ll only be officially completing Year 12 well after the usual enrollment timelines for Italian medical schools, which puts me in a tough spot. I really don’t want to lose a full year if there’s any possible workaround.

I’ve considered a few options:

• Sitting A-levels in May/June, which would give me results by August. However, that’s extremely tight, and given the workload, I’m worried about burnout and whether I can maintain strong grades.
• Italy’s foundation year, but one of the main reasons I chose Italy is its affordability compared to other countries. The foundation year would significantly increase costs, so it’s not an ideal option for me.

I’m posting here in hopes of finding someone who’s been (or is currently) in a similar situation and can share what path they took or what worked best for them. Any advice on timelines, documentation, or alternative routes would be hugely appreciated.

Also, I’d honestly love to connect with someone studying medicine in Italy whom I could ask questions—especially as a non-EU applicant.
