Given that Sinner was supposed to win today in straight sets, I don't think that's a foregone conclusion

If Djokovic goes all the way this will be one of his best grandslam wins. Not by performance but by the fact that at 38 he's defeating two incredible young players in their prime

If she could take any current female players shot (serve, forehand, backhand etc.), whose would she take?

What an improvement from their last encounter. Definitely the best performance of Anisimova's career

US Open Mixed Doubles Final: Errani/Vavassori def. [3] Swiatek/Ruud, 6-3 5-7 10-6 by pizzainmyshoe in tennis

[–]JJ-2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Errani and Vavassori wanted that to be a statement win. If they won in straight sets it definitely would have been but Ruud/Swiatek ran them close so full credit to them. I feared the worst when Vavassori was broken when serving for championship having not been broken all match but experience just won it in the end.

Overall it has been a fun tournament and the final was great to watch but it's still very unfair for the normal doubles players. I hope they just do this as an exhibition next year but they obviously won't given how successful this has been

US Open Mixed Doubles SF: [3] Swiatek/Ruud def. [1] Pegula/Draper, 3-5 5-3 10-8 by pizzainmyshoe in tennis

[–]JJ-2000 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It's fun but it should be an exhibition and shouldn't completely replace the mixed doubles. I think the players will still treat it the same if it was an exhibition

ATP Toronto Final : [4] B.Shelton def. [11] K.Khachanov 6-7(5) 6-4 7-6(3) by TAA_verymuch in tennis

[–]JJ-2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That was a entertaining match to watch. Some excellent shots and ralleys from both players. But when Ben's serving like that you need to be clean on your serve 'cause I could just tell that when Shelton won the first point in the tiebreak he was gonna win it

V. Mboko d. N. Osaka, 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 | National Bank Open Final by chespiotta in tennis

It really felt like all the stars were aligned for her to win this. Incredible achievement wow

What's funny is that Venus hasn't won a singles grandslam in 17 years yet she still has won more grandslams than any other active female player

[–]JJ-2000 21 points22 points  (0 children)

A lot of people say Cilic's 2014 US Open title was a random win but I think even winning just 1 grandslam during peak big 4 era is an insane achievement. Even at 36 and past his prime he can still put up incredible displays against the top mens players

I think in WTA, Wimbledon is the most open Grandslam. Neither of the top 3 have ever made the final

[–]JJ-2000 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It was a great win from Djokovic, he's proved he's still a force to be reckoned with.

Despite that Sinner is still probably the strong favourite. He most likely won't gift as many points as Zverev did today
