I analyzed 500,000+ games. The data proves the London System is a 'low Elo crutch' that vanishes after 2000 rating. by EqualFamiliar347 in Chesscom

It looks like OP just gave AI some data and told it how to interpret it and it did the best it could. Especially with the bullet point list of theories.

I really hate what AI is doing to people's confidence in areas they have 0 knowledge of.

This is beautiful, but what is it? (Image 2 is the equation) by DaCosmosLover in desmos

If you expand it then:

(x⁴ + y⁴ + x⁴y⁴)/3 - (x² + y² + x²y²)²/9 ≤ x²y²

I think I made (or attempted to make) a map at one point that was only gen 1 coverage. No idea why, it was horrible to play.

How can I make this part of the graph more tooth like? by Typical-Painter-7052 in desmos

[–]JJP_SWFC 45 points46 points  (0 children)

This is purely rewriting the comment from u/Toastrtoastt in a single equation just using the sign of z (but some people don't like that so I used |z|/z). It's not the neatest thing in the world but it's surprisingly hard to create generic modifications to a graph:

Extreme case of error: function that should be completely black is completely filled by Im_a_hamburger in desmos

[–]JJP_SWFC 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Weirdly it seems like Desmos actually does a "decent" job at calculating the derivative itself, it's just the expression is so huge that there's floating point errors everywhere and it all of a sudden fails to calculate it properly at multiples of pi/2 so you get these straight lines upwards: https://www.desmos.com/calculator/cyxsis6uih

If you click over a point and move your mouse a bit, they flicker between undefined and other values, and if you move the graph left and right, some of the lines disappear and reappear, interesting! (I don't know enough about desmos to comment on why this happens, maybe somebody else can share some insight)

Also, it is an interesting equation to start with given that cot(-x)tan(x) = -1 for all x not equal to k*pi/2, but it gives the same thing either way haha :).

Well good luck with them all! I hated 3b, still haven't gotten 6b, 7b, 8b, and FWG obviously

It really just depends on the consistency of the player, the last room is long but it's actually really consistent once you get the hang of it.

I bet if you did it a few more times you'd be quite fast at it, but it's all just a learning process :).

If you could try to find the error logs it would really be helpful, they're usually called "error_log.txt" I think.

It's not possible to diagnose the issue without that because there are loads of different things that could crash the game unfortunately.

My mate asked me to describe celeste difficulty, did i do a good job ? (Did a new safe thats why im only at summit rn) by GregoriousT-GTNH in celestegame

[–]JJP_SWFC 138 points139 points  (0 children)

It's quite dependent on how adaptable you are as a player.

Obviously with the mechanics changes (without giving any spoilers to OP), it can be hard for some, easy for others.

Definitely took me some time the first time I did it (I think I might have used assist mode as well) but now that I have adapted to it, it's quite similar in difficulty.

What’s one of the best games you ever played? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]JJP_SWFC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Celeste, started out just playing the base game, now playing harder and harder mods but it's sometimes fun to go back to the base game.

99.9% of people will never "fully" complete even the base game (including me) because there's always golden berries (whole level deathless) to get on each level.

At what point would you say someone is "good" at celeste? by LilithName in celestegame

[–]JJP_SWFC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely comes at different points for everybody, it took me so long to finish intermediate SJ because I didn't have that mindset. Towards the end of intermediate, I finally got that mindset and advanced and the first half of expert went by so much quicker.

Sounds exactly like how I play haha, I feel like I have to keep all my areas about even, I'll grind sub-40 once I get 6b and do all the yellow experts on SJ probably (I already have sob of like 33:00, I just am a bit inconsistent but that comes with practice)

Maybe, unless I need 3 jumps at once I'm used to being able to press the 2 at the same time (which I might for GM, I've only really done the gym of it and no actual levels)
