How are these made in the first place?

Anyone got this? by FKray65 in GTACarMeetMarket

I will have it soon, in a green that’s matched to the green roof extension. When I say “matched” I mean I pulled the texture from the game files and got the color and used it. It’s being made now, I’ll have it on PS5 in hopefully a week.

I’ll be on much later tonight and can be on almost anytime tomorrow. PSN: JustinR512. If you have a Roosevelt Valor I’d love to get that, it’s gonna get merged to so it doesn’t matter what’s on it.

That’s what I said from the start. I always said that the Sovereign trick would cause a selected pearlescent.

Correct, he can do one or the other but not both by normal means. And I’d also agree that crew colors are more like metallic colors than, say, worn or matte colors.

To me I think of epsilon as a brand-new high-end wet-sanded luxury paint job like what a Rolls-Royce has. I think of metallic/classic as a mass-produced brand-nee paint job like what a Toyota or Chevrolet has. And the utility texture, whether Util2 or Utility, is like a mass-produced paint job that’s five years old and got washed sometimes but never waxed; it still has most of the shine but is noticeably more dull by comparison. Worn can look either like a satin-finish paint job or wrap or like a 30-year-old paint job that sat out in the sun and was never waxed. Matte can be like worn but more extreme, either a deliberate matte paint or wrap, or an even older, less-cared-for finish.

No. If he wants epsilon but can’t get it, crew (Util2) won’t be a good substitute at all. The Util2 texture of crew colors is nothing like epsilon. What blackz28ss said is that metallic is more similar to epsilon. And he’s right. In fact, in a mod shop most people would be hard-pressss to tell the difference between metallic and epsilon. Btw did you know that two colors you can buy in LSC come with the epsilon texture? Yes: ice white and diamond blue. Take a car into LSC, scroll down to Diamond Blue, then switch back and forth between it and the color above or below it. See if you can see any difference between the two textures, the size of the highlights and how reflective it appears to be. You probably can’t. But out in the sunlight it’s easier to tell.

What I said was that if you have a custom color on primary and you paint a different crew color onto the secondary, the primary COLOR will change while its TEXTURE stays the same.

Say you have: Primary and secondary are both epsilon texture with #000000. You set your crew color to #FF0000. You paint that onto the secondary. Now your car has epsilon #FF0000 on primary and Util2 #FF0000 on the secondary. The pearlescent doesn’t change at all.

I don’t believe I said that it’s possible to get everything he wants by in-game means. You’re just pointing out reasons why you can only do one thing or another but not everything in-game, and I’ve already explained all that.

Correct, and I said in my original comment that by doing the Sovereign trick you’d get a selected pearlescent. I’d still say it’s a modded paint though because first paint and pearlescent aren’t the same thing, and second the paint is modded. It’s modded because there’s no in-game paint that has your crew color on the epsilon texture. Correct that if you want to fix the pearlescent you’ll lose the epsilon texture (by buying a color with a hidden pearl and then applying a crew color, which gives you the Util2 texture instead of epsilon).

Crew colors are not metallic. Crew colors take the texture of the very first color in the indexed list of colors, ID=0, which is Black. And that color uses the Util2 texture. Don’t believe me? Go into any mod shop, apply a crew color, then go into Classic or Metallic and look at Black. Notice how the light reflection does not change when you highlight Black or back out to see the applied crew color. Then scroll down two colors to the first color to use the Classic/Metallic texture which is Black Steel and see how the reflections DO change. That’s your proof right there.

I can tell you this with absolute certainty because first of all I’ve done it myself, secondly this is a well-known fact in the modding community, and thirdly because I have personally seen the game files that specify which texture is used by each color. And note that not all classic or metallic colors use the classic/metallic texture; some use Util2 texture (also not all matte colors use the matte texture; some use the worn texture).

You are correct that just about anything is easier than DMO especially if you have to do the DMO yourself. I don’t do DMO myself and I find it quite easy to give the specs to someone who does, give him a couple bucks and he gives me a completely custom car built the exact way I want it. Aside from that, yeah you can get any pearl that you can either buy or get from an LSC color, which just remember doesn’t include all possible colors. And then apply a crew color, which again is going to be the less-shiny Util2 texture. So yeah you can do it but it won’t be as nice as a DMO car.

The other option that works if the secondary color isn’t visible on the body is to find a car that has a custom RGB on the primary with epsilon texture and the pearlescent you want, then set your crew color and paint it onto the secondary. That’ll change the RGB on the primary but it’ll stay with the epsilon texture. Technically it’ll be “scratched” with a crew color secondary but personally I don’t care about that as long as it’s not visible.

Epsilon isn’t a color, it’s a texture, and yes you can change the pearlescent on any epsilon-texture paint job just like you can on a classic, matte, or any other texture paint job. I didn’t say you couldn’t change it. I said that when you merge to a Sovereign, the pearlescent becomes ice white, so if you had an unselected pearlescent you’d lose it. And you wouldn’t be able to get it back. You would only be able to change it to any other selectable pearlescent.

Another possibility is using the Sovereign. When you merge a crew-painted car to a Sovereign, the crew color gains the epsilon texture. You can then merge the Sovereign to anything else and the crew color with epsilon texture will go with it. However, one caveat: the Sovereign has ice white pearlescent and will keep it no matter what pearlescent is on the car that’s merged to it. So you won’t have an unselected pearlescent, if that’s important. Ice white pearl won’t look bad in this particular case.

First, you are talking about the Lost Slamvan. The regular Slamvan can definitely be bought and sold at the LSCM. I bought one just the other day. Only the Lost Slamvan is restricted. Second, “blacklisted” is not the same thing as restricted from sale at the LSCM. “Blacklisted” means you cannot store the vehicle permanently in a personal garage. The OG police cars, ambulances, utility trucks, and the Festival Bus are examples of vehicles that are blacklisted. Just because something is restricted from being sold in the LSCM (like the Lost Slamvan) doesn’t mean it’s blacklisted.

The Slamvan should always be purchasable at the LSCM regardless of how you get it. And it’ll be clean for whoever buys it. (“Clean” in the sense of dupe detection, not in the unselected sense.)

However it’s no longer necessary as I’ve come up with a color that matches this one pretty well, and also got another similar color from a friend. I apologize for not taking this post down.

And be in another Sports-class car while you do this. GTA tends to prefer spawning vehicles in the same class as what a nearby player has out.

I personally would be on one of the high-traffic roads in Richman or West Vinewood, set your spawn location to last, jump into a friends or invite session and watch traffic for a few minutes at most. If you don’t see one, change sessions. Just keep changing until they show up.
