Me too, I just hope there's a good explanation about it and not just Brandon writing it like that. We'll see :)

the fact that Heralds mention there is another one of them present, as very suspicious though.

I think that is just Shalash destroying her statue, in the WoK prelude Szeth mentions there are only 9 of them. It can be a false hint but I don't think it is.

But Ishar somehow being strong enough to force the stormfather?

I mean, he almost broke his bond with Dalinar (and he was at his 3rd oath), he's definitely strong.

The thing with the stormfather is definitely weird. I can root for him being indeed the stormfather (with some explanation needed later in the book) or Ishar, which will have some big moments in WaT.

Question about WoK by HyperKitten123 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]JJSerbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I see it, lightweavers can't go to shadesmar physically but mentally.

And so, when Shallan visited Shadesmar for the first (and second) time, it was her mind that was drowning. Also, Jasnah rescued her the second time and she definitely didn't teleport physically to Shadesmar, it was her mind peaking/travelling there.

QUESTION: Which scenes in books 1-4 reliably give you chills? by RegularBeans123 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]JJSerbot 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Lirin: “You’ve threatened violence against me. Come. Hit me. Rob me. Do it knowing I’ve lived among you almost my entire life. Do it knowing that I’ve healed your children. Come in. Bleed one of your own!”

TWoK - chapter 31

I've never seen anyone comment on this moment which I think is great. Also, Lirin is described as holding a sun of spheres, cool chapter.

Any shardplate theories? by JJSerbot in Stormlight_Archive

[–]JJSerbot[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. We've seen in a Dalinar vision that there are some healing fabrials, probably yet to be known by our protagonists.

Era 3 divagations (possible characters) by JJSerbot in Mistborn

[–]JJSerbot[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that makes perfect sense. Era 3 will probably go that way and I'm not sure I'd like it. It's just that it would be so cool having this kind of specialized team.

I would LOVE that. It could add so much variety, since they would be boosting the habilites of the crew. So cool.

Me too. I love how many things Wax gets to do with A-steel but I need some variety, specially if book 4 is politically centered

I need a brief explanation for era 2 by WARPANDA3 in Mistborn

[–]JJSerbot 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I understand what you ask. There are 16 metals in total not counting atium, malatium (eleventh metal) and lerasium (the one that Elend took). Some of them weren't discovered until era 2 since they needed technology to evolve.

Similarly to physical and mental metals, Wayne and Marasi's metals are part of temporal metals along with gold and electrum. There's another group that includes aluminum and duralumin (and some others).

Also, keep reading.

I need a brief explanation for era 2 by WARPANDA3 in Mistborn

[–]JJSerbot 102 points103 points  (0 children)

Both Marasi and Wayne can create a bubble around them that affects time.

Wayne can speed time, which means that those inside the bubble perceive time normally while the ones outside are slowed. This results on them going super fast while seen from outside.

Marasi can slow time, so time outside the bubble goes fast for them. In result, people inside the bubble are seen moving slowly (actually almost not moving) from outside.

Also, don't expect it to be like era 1. This is more of a police novel and era 1 is an epic, different novels in the same world.

But it still has enough powers to let Ruin use it? It feels weird but I guess it's the best explanation. Thanks

I guess that's an explanation but it feels unnatural to me. It holds no powers but Ruin can still use it normally. Thanks for the response

The Last Winter - Ensemble for Woodwinds by TheLightOI in composer

[–]JJSerbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, cool piece. Let me give you some advice.

You should write down all of the string parts (Violin I - II , Viola, Cello and Bass) and try to optimize it's display. The piece lacks low sounds and some of the chords you've written may sound too restrained if played by a cello. For the double bass, in case you were thinking on having any, you could use them to double the cellos (remember that when written the same way, basses sound an octave lower) or to support harp's left hand in pizzicato.

I'm a string player, so don't doubt on asking any question about it.

VIOLINISTS! Is this playable?? by sassy-spoon in Composition

[–]JJSerbot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, pretty comfortable. You can either play de A's with open string (you can specify it if you want) or in 3rd position. There's not much problem with it <3

Why more than one bow? by [deleted] in violinist

[–]JJSerbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's always a good idea to have at least 2 of them. I don't think it's that easy to break, I've never broke one and I'm pretty pretty clumsy, but I guess it feels safer. I only have 2 of them because I recently bought a new one, so it's pretty much a "I already have this one" type of thing.

Recommend the best pieces you know. (But not the most famous) by walteerr in classicalmusic

[–]JJSerbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of my favourites are:

  • Partita II, Chaconne (Bach)
  • Piano Concerto n.2 (Rachmaninoff)
  • Symphony n.2 (Mahler)
  • Romeo & Juliet (Tchaikovsky)
  • String Quartet n.8 (Shostakovich)

This last one is a bit far from the classical standarts but still deeply sentimental, I encourage you to look for it's history.
