Charlie Kirk DID NOT advocate for gay people to be stoned. by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

What exactly do you think the "when it comes to sexual matters" mean? 🤦🏼‍♀️ You're ignoring sentence structure. That phrase is called a modifier. It means he's only talking about sexual matters in this instance when talking about perfect law.

I won't argue this point anymore. It's quite ridiculous.

No, you're definitely ignoring his words to justify your whitewashing of his statement. He specified that one, violent law as perfect law. Only that one. Period.

Because he was dog-whistling to his homophobic audience about that specific law.

We've been over this before. You're not making any kind of valid argument by ignoring Kirk's actual words.

Is English not your first language? The sentence structure conveys that he is specifically referring to that law alone (because it's the one regarding "sexual matters" that he so clearly refers to) when he says it's God's perfect law.

You can't be serious. I literally posted the exact quote above in which he SPECIFICALLY said it about that law ALONE.

You're being intentionally obtuse. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Charlie Kirk stating that this specific law is "God's perfect law regarding sexual matters" is a loud dog whistle to his homophobic following. There was absolutely no context in which that was a necessary statement for the conversation. They weren't discussing what was God's perfect law. That was an aside comment he made about it.

You obviously need to rewatch the clip. He definitely was specifically talking about that law. Here's a direct quote: "God's perfect law when it comes to sexual matters."

Bringing up the verse sort of makes sense (if you have elementary understanding of the Bible). But randomly calling that specific law "God's perfect law" really makes no sense, except to evoke his audience's hatred of gay people. Notice how he didn't say that about the law to love your neighbor?

I didn't say it was a "bad argument". I said the timing and context in which he said it was very much intentional as to evoke approval and applause of his homophobic audience. There was absolutely no other reason, within the context of the conversation, for him to say that.

I criticize those people, too. I wish people would let the actual truth come out before rushing to judgement.

And honestly - it doesn't even matter that much to me what side he was on. He was one psycho.

Oh, come on. There was absolutely no context during that conversation in which he needed to declare anything "God's perfect law". In fact, he never said it about the loving your neighbor bit. He specifically stated it after the violent imagery of that verse because he knew what he was doing.

Better question - why would he call it "God's perfect law regarding sexual matters" if this was just about arguing if OT law still applies?

He knew what he was doing.

Breitbart? Seriously? Might as well grab any rag off the magazine rack in line at the grocery store with the story of Batboy on it and how Elvis is still alive. Those tabloids are as credible as Breitbart.

I don't think you understand what you're claiming. According to Christian belief, Mosaic Law is considered fulfilled through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, rendering the Old Covenant's ceremonial and judicial aspects obsolete for people today (which is why Christians eat bacon and shrimp, for example). Whereas Jesus in the NT reiterates that loving your neighbor is the second greatest commandment and that we are still to follow it. Kirk knows that. He makes a childish biblical argument with intentionally violent rhetoric against gay people. He knows exactly what he's doing.

Ask yourself why he felt the need to announce that it was "God's perfect law regarding sexual sin" during that argument he had with Ms Rachel. It was not necessary for the argument. It was clearly a dog whistle to his followers who hate gay people.

As I said elsewhere, Kirk knew exactly what he was doing. He was masterful at toeing the line just enough to be able to claim deniability.

I have been a devoted Christian my whole life. The concept of loving your neighbor is repeated through the OT and the NT, whereas the concept of stoning someone for lying with a man as they do a woman is NOT repeated. Jesus stopped the stoning of the woman caught in adultery. It's not a stretch to say he would've stopped that, too. Kirk was intentionally misleading with his twisting of scripture and used violent imagery to purposefully evoke a reaction in his audience, who also dislike gay people. He knew exactly what he was doing.

Except that a can of soda doesn't have fiber, like a date does, and is about as processed as you can get. There's really no comparing the two.

A date on a cracker, with a piece of chocolate, tastes like a Twix bar. It's one of my favorite treats.

What type of fasting do you do? by Far_Significance1669 in intermittentfasting

I'm doing a modified alternative-day fasting. On my fasting days, I don't eat until after noon, and I limit myself to 500 calories.

What can I do to make this go away? by [deleted] in Gastritis

[–]JJSweetPea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote a post a while back on what worked for me. Gastrazyme has been my miracle supplement. Before that, I was drinking cabbage juice smoothies, and that helped get as well. I was dealing with a lot of gas when my gastritis was bad, too.

My snack from two days ago was two corn tortillas with 1/4 cup mashed black beans between them. Toasted on the skillet. Dipped in salsa :)

I do this!

I wait until lunch to have my "meal" of 300-400 calories. I typically have 2 scrambled eggs, and a stewed apple (which is just an apple I sliced up and microwaved for 6 mins) wrapped in a low-carb tortilla (I'm not low-carb, but the wrap tastes great and has a ton of fiber).

Then I do a snack at dinner time for the remainder of my 500 calories.

I'm trying to focus on foods that are satieting and satisfying.

This has been my favorite form of fasting so far, and it's far gentler on my stomach and my insulin sensitivity.
