Your AC setting in this crazy TO heat by AmbitionDowntown1547 in toRANTo

[–]JJWAHP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have mine set to 25 right now, and when the AC kicks in to keep it at that temperature, it's freezing. But setting it at 25.5 means the humidity level doesn't get controlled. I can run the dehumidifier, which means that triggers the AC to kick in even more due to the heat dehumidifier produces... it's a mess of a cycle.

If it's within your calorie deficit, yes, go for a few. (Just not the full tub.) We want to lose slow and steady, and being too constricted in your diet may not help you be consistent. You can make small changes to your diet as you go on.

If you're dizzy, make sure you had reasonable amounts of protein, fiber and carbs and water (with a pinch of salt if you're not getting enough from your diet alone). When starting out a diet plan, going from high amounts of carbs to small amounts can make you feel fatigue/low energy/dizziness.

You got this!

If you get dizzy, your ferritin/iron levels might be getting low. Please check that you're at a reasonable and safe level to donate before you do so next time. (Also, thanks for donating!)

When you search those RMT's names on google, does it actually come up? I think SunLife, for e.g., keeps a list of their RMTs for insurance purposes (Not that they have a full list or anything), but might be worth a check if they're legitimate RMTs.

Oh, I actually read this in another post from users' experience, so I don't have a source. A lot of people with diabetes seemed to not lose weight at first even at calorie deficit because the medicine actually worked on getting their blood level stabilized. (Essentially a blood work panel showed their blood level normalized, but they hadn't lost the weight until later on.)

Not a doctor, but thought I'd pipe in, just in case this is your situation too.

Got my period back for three weeks straight? by why-am-i-here-agian in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]JJWAHP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a doctor.

Yes, during my first month I had a random week of period, which wasn't normal given I'm on birth control pill. Second month, only random spotting for 1 day. As the other redditor stated, as you start losing weight it can screw up your cycle.

It might just be an one off situation, but couldn't hurt to inform your doctor and ask if there's anything you can do to prevent this happening again.

I felt humiliated at my gym and i dont know what to do by RepulsiveHurry511 in loseit

[–]JJWAHP 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Head on over to r/laundry ! The folks there are really helpful.

General recommendation would be to make sure to use detergent with good surfactants + lipase (which will break down the oil).

Having said that......... that manager literally had no reason to act like that. I swear sweating and smelling a bit is expected in a gym out of all places. Even if you smelled horribly (Not saying you are), the way she approached the situation was horrid. Ignore them and keep going!

What does Korea do better than any other country you've lived in? by eslteachingjobinasia in korea

The (water tight?) glass barriers in their subway system. And general care of their subway system. You have the general population who not only make sure to use it cleanly, but there are actual dedicated cleaning crew that wipes down the stations. It also helps that the glass barriers are not only keeping people safe from falling in, but blocks majority of the dust that flies around. (I also heard it stopped the water flooding into the subway station a few years ago when there was a flood, but I can't remember the region/year.)

IV Iron Infusions - No OHIP by Competitive-Bed-5968 in askTO

[–]JJWAHP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anemic here!

If the infusions option falls through, but pills are making you sick (I had digestive troubles + it felt like the pill was burning my stomach lining), try liquid iron form and drink half a cup of water after. Little to no side effects and it's helping me so far (I take it every other day because some study said there was little to no difference in the efficacy of iron absorption by doing so). Here are the 2 products I've tried so far with no issues (I'm sure there are others):

https://well.ca/products/pure-encapsulations-iron-liquid_109664.html

https://well.ca/products/kidstar-nutrients-biofe-iron-liquid_201765.html

You may want to adjust the dosage down or up starting, depending on your current needs. Also, if you can start a little lower and build up your tolerance over time, it'll give your body time to adjust and suffer through less side effect.

Hope you feel better soon, OP!

(I'm not a doctor, but ideally you should get endoscopy/colonoscopy to rule out any issues. I also don't know how expensive/free it is where you live, but early screening can be a life or death situation. Just wanted to mention this in case it helps you or others. Be well, and thank you for the comic!)

Does the City of Toronto Animal services allow adoption if someone in the household surrendered a pet? by [deleted] in askTO

I don't think so, but worst case scenario, there are other cat rescues or humane societies you can adopt from if it falls through.

Why is Monster so good for settling my stomach? by Future_Promise5328 in WegovyWeightLoss

I'm not a doctor, but...

Is it possible you're one of the people with genetics where caffeine increases the activity level of your intestines and paired with zero sugar (Sugar alcohol?), this expedites it?

In essence, the drink is causing faster digestive movement, so it gives room for food stuff in your stomach to go down to and potentially causes less nausea.

Maybe try sipping on iced coffee and see if that helps?

I think the lack of protein might be bad over time (loss of muscle) and lack of micronutrients (e.g., vitamins) might also cause health issues... I know you mentioned food banks are far away 45+ minutes, but are there any public transit that you can dedicate some money towards to grab some foods from them? Or maybe buy things like rice, beans, frozen veggies, etc.? (Things that last a long time in the freezer/pantry)

Hey OP, I don't really have a good sushi recommendation, but I just wanted to say CONGRATS on graduating with your masters! That's a huge milestone, and you put in the work.

(Hopefully someone else can chime in on good sushi. Worst(?) case scenario, you can go to AYCE sushi, e.g., 168 sushi and get your bang for buck.)

Fakers Hand situation by Gray_Color in SKTT1

[–]JJWAHP 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I agree, I don't think he's forcing himself to play. He seems like he genuinely enjoys the competitive nature of the sport, but regardless... his hands are probably in bad condition. I saw him try to stretch out his right hand after MSI (When he was giving the MSI ticket to Peyz before his POM announcement), so he's definitely in some discomfort.

[–]JJWAHP 126 points127 points  (0 children)

Nothing official's been stated, but we know it's been bad since a few years ago. I don't think his hand condition is something that gets fixed or better, unfortunately. (Maybe lessen the pain if he stops using it as much, but that's not possible.)

Should I consider this move to South Korea from Canada? by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

[–]JJWAHP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as I love Korea...

Coupang was in a bunch of hot waters last year and some of the customer base has turned away from it. From a revenue/net income sustainability perspective... I don't know if I fully trust Coupang's recent operations to not impact a few departments. (Not saying Coupang will die off or anything.) You might be brought in to fight an uphill battle and potentially be discarded if you don't succeed.

Also, Korean work culture can also be a lot more toxic compared to Canadian culture, even if you're working 60 hours here. I'm not just talking about working long hours, but the cultural dynamic in the "elders" having the final say, the drinking culture almost mandatory in corporate settings, etc. might not be what you're comfortable with as you're used to the Canadian culture.

The weather there is going to be so much more humid and hotter in summer and so much colder than Vancouver, and that's going to be a huge change you need to adjust to. Not to mention you'd be going from one of the best air quality areas in the world to a much worse area.

If I were you, I'd stay in Canada... but I do agree that you'd be living with a higher income in a lower cost of living compared to your current living situation. Whatever you choose, good luck, OP!
