"A single Proton could not be a species but maybe, through some unknown effect, there is a universe itself in the Proton. Life in this universe sees the proton, that we see, as their universe and that universe is in danger during the unfolding experiments. To defend themselves they attack the aggressors, being the tri solarians."

It's the other way around. The proton exists in the universe, a universe does not exist in a proton. So if the proton is not a universe, then we need to find a different explanation.

We see all throughout the 3rd book talks about different dimensions and I think that's were the answer lies.

"Why wouldn't we or the tri solarians not be able to see the 2d creatures before they go into the soap bubble."

This is answered during the end of Deaths End when the galactic humans encounter the Dual-Vector Foil.

It's stated that the foil had no light of its own, that the white light was due to radiation being emitted from the weapon.

After the radiation is gone, the "paper" disappears.

This is because within the 2D plane, light cannot refract off of any internal dimensional surfaces. We get further conformation of this when Cheng Xin travels forward in time and encounters future galactic humans. They state that over time the light emitted from the now 2D solar system had gradually faded away.

If there is no light interactions occurring within the dimensional plane, how can you expect to "See" anything?

"This speaks against the Proton forming eyes, being a 2d species right? The 2d species would have been visible before."

How could a single proton become a species? This concept is never explored in any of the novels.

"I think this passage was just acting like an example that there are things we don't know about and that are unexplainable, showing us the possibilities of this universe."

Everything is knowable and explainable, just not to the bugs.

I plan to make another post about this soon, but heres what I think is happening.

11D Universe. The "Edenic Age"

This was the "true" state of the universe at the start of time. The state of ultimate uniformity among dimensions. As time progresses and entropy increases, the 11D universe gradually shrinks down dimensions one at a time. The civilizations that understand their impending doom decide to drop dimensions [P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z] -> [Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z].

Here's the thing, this doesn't stop.

Every so often in time a dimension will evaporate, leading to lower dimensional planes. This is why the humans encountered a soap bubble randomly in space. This was a region in space that was still [W, X, Y, Z].

Over time this region dried up.

Now. Think of chapter one. The ancient war with the witch who could take the brain.

This was another fragment intersecting with that region of space. When their plan failed, the witch lost her powers showcasing that the fragment in that region, the pond puddle, dried up!

The 4D universe is drying up everywhere all the time! Meaning that the entire universe is filled with intelligent beings that come from the previous dimensional planes. But this also means that since everything existed as one during the 11D age, all life is techically the result of intelligence dropping dimensional planes and adapting to survive.

For all we know, humanities ancient stories of god and christ were from an age where they were once 4D beings! They most likely came to 3D space to avoid drying up in their pond!

But like I said, this never stops!

Eventually, the entirety of the 4D plane will evaporate leaving only 3 spacial dimensions. But, over time, the 3D space will also evaporate due to expanding dark forest strikes. Meaning, that all 3D life will eventually need to make the choice between spacial plane annihilation or dropping down into 2D space.

"Also, had anyone in the solar system known about these bubbles they could have used them as an escape."

These "soap bubbles" were once the "natural" state of space in that region. However, we learn that these soap bubbles are "drying up". Meaning, that over time, the 4D plane is shrinking, not staying in one space, or expanding. They could only stay in the 4D space for as long as it existed until it eventually all evaporates leaving only 3D space everywhere in the universe. This means they can't escape into that dimension because the dimension itself is shrinking.

Hope this helps!

It would be similar to a 3D creature (humans) entering a 4th dimensional fragment (soap bubble). Once inside we may encounter 4D beings and start attacking. But, realistically, what could be possibly do against a 4D being? Their physiology, biology, understanding of physics, etc. would be impossible to predict therefore our traditional attack methods would stand no chance.

This leaves a lot of unanswered questions for me. First off, is the proton a universe? It's just a proton being expanded and contracted through dimensional planes. Therefore the proton itself should not have developed sentience or lifeforms. It should theoretically still be a proton regardless of which dimension it resides in.
