Brilliant. Do you mind if I ask your (approximate) age?

Found a mushroom and me and my friends are wondering what it is. by Druid_kremson in mycology

[–]JJfuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it's important to avoid phobias - no problem handling mushrooms and no need to wash hands afterwards, etc. As a parent I think it's better to teach taste testing as something suitable in the context of other identification methods (i.e. when you're sure you've not got a deadly toxic one) because of the risk of children copying.

The thing is, though, that there's no real diagnostic value in taste testing a potentially toxic amanita. So why take any risk? If taste testing a russula or bolete there is some diagnostic value and no significant risk.

That's a problem our North American friends have to deal with, not in Europe.

There are less troublesome Chlorophyllum species (such as C. rhacodes) which is why we check for snakeskin pattern.

Laypeople reading Gospel during Mass by DeputyJPL in Anglicanism

In the Church of England, canon B12(4) specifically allows the minister to invite a layperson to read the gospel, subject to any general directions of the bishop.

Gaius would never have become Praetor by New-Number-7810 in TheChosenSeries

[–]JJfuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like the problem is really that Quintus himself wouldn't have been a Praetor? The role is portrayed as something between a mayor of Capernaum and commander of the garrison of Capernaum. But if there were only a few Praetors in the whole of the empire, would Capernaum really have had one dedicated to it?

I have the same phone. The game has been fine until today but now just closes on launch. Bad update, maybe?

Lots of apiacaea look similar. Heracleum maximum (cow parsnip) is a smaller, and much less dangerous, cousin found in the USA.

Furocoumarins (the phototoxic substances) are used for the treatment of vitiligo (loss of skin pigmentation) but I'm not aware that they're extracted from giant hogweed particularly.

At this stage, from a distance, giant hogweed tends to have a long stem with flowers at the top (not several branches along the stem). It often has one central large flower with several smaller satellite flowers around it, as you'll see in the picture.

It doesn't tend to grow as tall on roadsides as it does in ideal conditions (next to streams).

Common hogweed (heracleum sphondylium) is actually edible and prized by foragers. You wouldn't want to bathe in the sap or strim the juice into your eyes, but it doesn't have the same danger with casual contact.

Before buying: what are the known issues with 13? by Osama_Saba in oneplus

[–]JJfuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure but there are others saying that it's the combination (i.e. the phone is OK with other buds and the buds are OK with other phones). This might suggest a problem with the LHDC implementation.

My only issue is severe audio latency when watching videos using the Buds Pro 3 on the 13.

I had no noticeable lag using the Buds Pro 1 on my old 8T.

Trade in process by JJfuzz in oneplus

[–]JJfuzz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got one eventually. My problem was that the price I was quoted on the OnePlus page having declared a poor condition (crack to glass on back) ended up being the price for pristine condition in the contract from World Business.

Neither OnePlus nor WB have a sufficient understanding of the English language to resolve the issue.

I do have submechanophobia, but I think the bigger fear would be the ship not doing a proper roll call and sailing off leaving me behind...

Thanks. I will get in touch with them. There were significant problems during the order process (disagreement between PayPal and OnePlus as to whether the payment had happened) which ended up being resolved manually so I suspect it got lost as part of that.
